  1. Started by Wrenchface,

Hey everyone, glad to back, one of my non-yam projects has been causing grief, soon sorted hopefully. Anyway, I'm starting in the planning phase of converting my all original 81 XT500 to a street tracker style bike and am looking for some input on a few things. Currently has a 19" rear and 21" front wheel and I want to go 19" for both. My options appear to be to get a 19" re-laced from my original hub or find a compatible front end from another bike. I would 'like' to leave my original wheel intact for option of bolting everything back up to return bike to original if ever so desired and I think the stock forks would look too long, goofy, with a 19" wheel. I'm hoping I…

I have decided to clean up the alloy lower front forks. I usually get them polished to look pretty. This time I am going to have a crack at linishing and then hit them with non-yellowing clear lacquer. Here they are now ~ RegardZ.

I have just got some new foot pegs for my XT. I had a quick look today and the fitting for the old ones are rusted and corroded solid. I can't afford to start the job and then fucking it up, because I will have no transport. Can any one offer any words of wisdom? I'm wary of the pin snapping and not been able to get it out.

  7. Hi everyone, ive just purchased a pair of progressive springs (because my old ones were very soft and dipped suddenly under any hard braking or release of the throttle in low gears) which have arrived, but are only about 20mm wide compared to the 35mm wide stock springs in my fork. as you can see in this diagram, http://www.boats.net/images/diagrams/yamaha/MCY/2005/XVS650T-F_TC-F/IMAGES/FRONT_FORK.png, the standard springs (14), washer (15), and spacer (16) fit the stanchions nicely, allowing no room for 'wobble'. the problem i have with the new progressive springs is 1) the hole in the washer is wider than the springs, so it just slides over the top, along with the s…

Hi guys - I hope you can point me in the right direction. My wife is learning to ride so we picked up an 06 YBR 125 to practice on. It has been great but yesterday we went out and the bike just died. we pulled into a garage to fill with fuel and the bike would not start again. Checked fuel was going to the carb ok so pulled the plug (which looks good) but there was no spark when cranked over. The fuse looks good too. I'm thinking maybe the coil but not sure how to check with the multimeter? Any help would be much appreciated. DL

  10. Hey guys, I have a 1985 Yamaha SR 250. Unfortunately I have 3 problems I need to deal with in order to get the bike registered. Brake light stays on Neutral light stays on in dash I need to reconnect the fuel lines and i'M unsure of the placement. First of all my tail and brake lights are always on, I realize that my tail light should stay on but the little button that my front brake lever pushes in to activate the brake light is stuck on. When I changed the broken brake and clutch levers to new ones I greased them and I think i clogged the buttons Is there anyway to fix them for instance WD 40 or silicon spray? Or would I need new switches? Secondly my ne…

  12. hello people, This is my first ever post on any motorcycle forum, i am hoping someone out there might be able to help me with a problem i'm having with my 2003 DT 125 that i just bought on the 1st of august, i am trying to deresrict the bike. I have taken the restrictor out of the exhaust, but i'm not sure if the power valve is working properly because when i hit 6000-7000rpm the bike stops revving! My bike has the servo fitted and it moves when i switch the bike on but the last DT i had flew when i hit the dreaded 6000rpm but this one wont budge at all this makes me think it is NOT working while i am riding . Now I have read a few posts on here about earthing a wi…

Hi guys, I am currently working on my new XT125 X 2006, it's my winter project bike, trouble is I can't get the dam thing turning over. I definitely have spark, I definitely have fuel ( if I pour some done the spark plug chamber) yet it won't fire up? What could potentially be wrong with this?

Hi all, I bought an xv250 recently and installed heated grips about a week ago. Yesterday when I got to work and switched the ignition off with the key the engine kept running, even with the key out. It turned off with the killswitch but the lights were still on. I turned them off at the switch too and left it figuring that I'd look into it when I got home but unfortunately something was still draining the battery. I disconnected the grips and got help jump starting it and made it home but the thing still kept running without a key even in the same state that i bought it in. when I got in and the neutral light was still on with all the lights switched off. Anyone k…

Hi, I have a Yamaha dt 50R from 1993 (). I own this motorcycle for many years, and it is a quite fun for city ride. Fun ride turned to extra fun when original DT 50 R engine fail. So I decided to swap with RD 80, wich has 6 gears, and is a lot faster. But fun ride turned into bad ride when the kick start shaft break at 2 peaces, and engine could not be runned. Since then I my motorcycle is staying in garage and I`m looking for some solution. Can I found somewhere complete kick shaft with sprocket and spring? DT80 and RD80 are two identical engines. Or some suggestion about engine swap? It might be cheaper to change engine. I`m not quite shure will dt50 ch…
