    Hello, well i have a question about the clutch setup on my 95 XV1100. do the diaphragms wear out? i'm replacing the clutch cable and adjustment parts at the handle due to someone(before me owning it) bending the adjustment hardware and the clutch cable starting to rub through. but whats happening is when i ride the motorcycle is this. i'll warm it up ride and the 6 miles to my buddy's house. all is good shifts fine shut it off hang out for a hour or so go to leave and now it clunks into gear and is hard to shift. is the diaphragm collapsing and causing this disengagment issue? is it a major adjustment issue? i bought this motorcycle from a person who lived in the cit…

    Half asleep watching some science program, when this stuff is shown. must have loads of uses, gaskets etc and is really sticky so could be used to hold platforms for cameras etc http://sugru.com/about

    Hi all Short while ago I had a problem with my Virago 750, it cut out and then proceeded to run but misfiring. After several suggestions from the members I have ventually changed the coils, the plugs and finally the battery after discovering that the old battery was too small. It has been running like a dream and yesterday I did a 50 mile ride out with friends and not a hint of trouble. This morning jumped on it to go to work and it started first time, no choke, sweet as a nut but after 12 miles it started to misfire badly and again when I came out of work it would not start but it was turning over lovely.     Recently I upgraded my bulbs and ever since the sidelight has stopped working and now my bike will only start when it is on high beam. What could be causing this? I knew I should of just left the lights as they were and not interfered, it has caused loads of problems. Thanks

    what are the diferent wires on the stator for. On my bike one goes to the ignition coil, and the other 3 I dont know. I know one also charges the baterry, but that leaves 2 that I can´t figure out what they do. i have an RS100 thanks RoSa

    I have been reading a lot lately about hard starts and rattling/ticking noises in R1s of different years. I purchased mine used last year with intentions of making a track bike out of it. After a week or so I too noticed the famous "ticking" sounds they love to produce. I took it to the wizard here in Tennessee and found that the cct was in fact bunk and replaced it.This did help some with the hard starts, I'm guessing that it caused improper timing issues. We checked the fuel maps and found them to be right on for stock settings. Still after a few days of sitting it is hard to start. Any other ideas???

  9. Just thinking that a rs100 barrel should just bolt straight on to a rsx? just need the right piston? or would i need a con rod change and other dubious ammounts of work?

    my chains snapped in half, it went on a mad one and ruined my casing, 3 bolts have fell out and gotten lost and the others are all bent does anybody know any were i can get some new ones for cheap? i cant find them anywhere and a new/used casing would be good too.

    Hi, my son has a DTR 125R (W Reg 2000), great runner and been reliable up to present. Recently when he rides its as though the choke is stuck on! it starts to splutter and loose power then gain power again, i have rode it myself to see what he was complaining about and its as though its being ridden with the choke stuck on full, can anyone help??

    bike idles at 900rpms when first started. as it warms up the idle increases and when i ride it the idle increases and will mnot return to normal until bike cools down and it's the same thing over again next time i ride it. anyone have any suggestions how to solve this problem? the bike performs very good other than that!     Hey All, The guy I bought my XJ750 from dropped of the fuel injection parts that came with the bike....i'll put up a photo later. From what I remember 80's fuel injection was shite so most people ended up binning it in favour of carbs which is the case on my bike. Do you think it would be worth while seeing if it works and changing it back? It looks like a set of carbs with leccy wiring and multi plugs with what I assume is the fuel pump..... Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? All the best everyone

    Hey there, I recently purchased a 1974 dt 100 for $150 AUD (bargain right!) I bought it as a rebuild project however there is one problem - I know next to nothing about motorbike mechanics. From what I can tell almost all the parts are there, and I was told that when connected to a fuel source the motor ran. I was wondering if anyone out there knew enough about motorbikes for me to send/post a few photos with what I have and perhaps give me some guidance on what I need to buy/do to at the very least get the thing running again! Any help Would be greatly appreciated!

    Can anybody tell me if any Virago's came to Australia with spoked wheels. I've been chasing some for my 1995 XV1100 and was told by a wrecker that the Virago's only came to Australia with mag wheels. Appreciate any advice. Cheers. :yay:

    Hi all sorry to bother your goodselves but my wifes virago 535 x-reg wont start. All advice greatly recieved as im a novice at bike repairs, Syptoms are: Turn on ignition and neutral Lights up, Flip run switch and neutral light starts to pulse and a clicking is heared like the sound of audible indicator signal from right hand false airbox cover. This is with lights turned off, if light switch put to parking position clicking and pulsing stops. Turn Lights on and neutral light goes out but no lights. Turn indicators on and they dont light but get a sound like a strangled horn sound building in pitch. Thank you all for your time all the ebst, James

    So I think it is a 1980 dt175g, the build date on the neck reads 11/79, the serial numbers is 3R9-004536. So what is it? Next, I need the schematic on the motor, cause of course it is not running, just did the top end. It had a mouse living in the air cleaner and it sucked all the bedding into the cylinder. But taking the side cover off the kick start side I have found a broken circlip I dont know where it is from and before ripping the whole motor apart schematics might help. Can anyone help with this? This is just a start to the rebuild/resto of this bike but need some help. Thanks Mike Moon

    I run a '93 FZR600 3EN model. I have been considering swapping the rear wheel for some time for a 17 inch wheel, to take advantage of a better range of tyres. I know that the rear wheel from a TZR250 will fit (forget the model) & also from a TDM I believe although they're now quite rare & hard to find. I saw at the weekend that the FZR1000 EXUP was fitted with a 17 inch wheel... Does anyone know whether this would be a straight swap or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks

    Would be grateful if anyone here can help with the following query; I am in the process of building a DT125 LC. My frame is a mk1, verified by Yamaha UK who kindly also supplied a Vehicle Registration Number & year of manufacture. I could not get a DT engine, BUT managed to pick up an RD engine which has dropped straight in, no problem. I have sourced RD electrics, loom etc as I am aware that the mk1 has 6V electrics not 12V & the RD engine will be 12V. I intend to keep the bike for myself, and to this end it will be made up of the best of the DT bits plus a few other nice custom bits. I have seen somewhere on here that the standard LC barrel can…
