Spark plug cap is in good state i.e. no tears or holes, but now and then sparks are jumping across between the engine and plug cap. I noticed this today checking the electrical connections as the bike has been stalling. I thought the stalling, particularly when at low revs, was caused by water as it seems to happen after I wash the bike, or if soaked in the rain. This is what happened on Thursday, bike got soaked and stalled 4-5 times on the way home from work. Never used bike on Friday (had a day off work ), so back to top; discovered the sparking! I figure there should'nt be sparks jumping, so how do I stop 'em? Hopefully if this is fixed it might cure the stalli…

Hey all, I'm fairly new to biking. I have had my YBR125 for around 4 months but haven't spent much time riding over the winter. The snow has melted here in hertfordshire and this week I have been riding to university. I have noticed that my gear shift seems to become loose, as in I shift up then the shifter becomes loose and I can't put pressure on it ready to shift up again. This only seems to happen when I am in second gear. I am going to change the oil tomorrow but I am wondering if there could be a serious problem with my gearbox? Or if it is possibly becoming loose and may need a tighten? I am quite a beginner with motorbikes as I mentioned earlier and I am h…

  6. Started by Grouch,

Hi Guys, Yesterday I was about fifteen miles from home and my bike started cutting out when I was stationary at lights etc. At first the bike would kick up again, but then it wouldn't. When I did manage to get it to start I had to use the choke, otherwise it would cut out again. Eventually it cut out and would not kick up again at all. I managed to bump it off and get home with the choke on. When I got home I left the bike for about six hours before I had to go to work, and it kicked up straight away. This morning the bike started first time and after I had warmed it up for ten minutes I turned the choke off and it cut out again, surprise surprise I had to bump it again.…

Ok. this silencer is in good condition. BUT the baffel is well and truley stuck.. I removed the bolt that holds it and well nothing.. As you can see the little grabby bar you grab with your pliers just isnt there. I have tried wd40, tried to wedge it out. tried to round out the lip on the silencer so its not as tight. rode the bike with no bolt holding the baffle. and nothing. just hasnt moved at all.. I have a much better baffle to use i just need to get this piece of junk out.

  9. Started by northerner,

Hi just bought a 900 for a bit of a project to be an upgrade for my 600 which has a few problems. Its been stood for a year but starts on the button but requires a new collector which I'm going to get from Sandy spares. The main problem is that when I try to shift into 1st gear, the bike stalls. I found that the cable was not adjusted by the lever at all so I adjusted it but it made no difference. The clutch fork moves when you depress the lever and it feels like the plates are moving. Its quite low mileage 26k with loads of history ie services so I'm kind of hoping its not the clutch. Any ideas ?

when I took out the bearings of the rear hub, i noticed that one of the bearings had a bit of Italian tin wrapped around it. This i believe is because the hub was too big for the bearing from the factory!! I can tell it hasn't spun as i can still see the cast markings and no signs of wear apart from reusing that bit of tin, along with bearing lock, has anyone else got any suggestions? things I have thought of; 1) Just bearing lock = too much gap 2) peen the alloy inside = won't get it central, can fail

  11. To replace the cable just remove the screen and remove the two instrument cluster nuts with an open ended or flat 10mm ring spanner. Now lift up the instruments and remove old cable and fit new one. Hope this helps someone, saves taking the front fairing off.

  13. Hi there, I've got a SR125 and recently it's developed this problem of only seeming to run when the fuel tap is in the reserve position. When I try to run it from the on position, it sometimes won't start or if it does it will tick over but when I apply the accelator it cuts out. However, it runs fine in reserve. I got it running in the on position the other morning but having gone about a mile it suddenly started to lose all power and eventually cut out. I really don't have a clue what to do.

  14. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help..? My uncle owns a 2008 Fazer 600. Great bike, but he needs to fit a gel seat to aid comfort (he is a pensioner after all!). But he doesn't want to strap some gel to the seat as doesn't want the extra stretch for his legs. So we've decided to buy a 2nd hand seat, cut out some foam and fit the gel. The problem is about what year seats will fit his 2008 bike - we've had different advice from the local Yamaha dealer to that of breaker yards (who also disagree with each other). From the Haynes manual, we believe the seat may have changed in 2007, so do we need a 2007 onwards seat? Or will any seat from an under-seat exhaust Fazer fit…

  15. As i'm fitting my clutch i was wondering can having to much resistance damage the clutch? Is it better to have a softer clutch?

Hey there, I recently serviced my bike (YBR 125) and upon checking my chain I found that it appears to be very loose. I therefore need to tighten it, I have the haynes manual and I need a torque wrench, I think its for the axal. What i am wondering is what torque wrench would cover the the majority of jobs the I would be doing my self on the bike? I don't want to spend too much at the moment and have been looking at the following ones: http://toolstoday.co.uk/shop.php?sec=prod&prod=4755&cat=49&load_page=Sealey+Torque+Wrench+Micrometer+Style+3%2F8%26quot%3BSq+Drive+7-112Nm%2F5-83lb.ft This one seems to have a good range. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dra…

Hi, I have recently picked up a near new 2010 FJR1300A [1500km], but noticed that it takes a few times to restart and run. It seems to be most prevelent after city riding on hot days. The engine temp gets up 2 x bars above mid point. It is nearly as if the fuel has boiled off? Cheers Ray

Help I was recently trying to solve a problem of a misfire on my bike by cleaning all the terminals on the coils, plugs, wiring connectors etc but when I went to start it nothing happened!!. The starter motor does nothing although all the light, indicators ec work and they do not dim when pressing the starter switch. I have taken the switch apart, cleaned it and applied dielectric grease to protect it but still nothing. I seems as if there is a break between the switch and the starter. Can someone tell me if there is a solenoid or a starter relay fitted and if so where abouts are they? Using a spare battery and a set of jump leads can I test it by earthing the cha…
