I recently purchased a 1974 Yamaha but I do not know what the model is. Is there any way that I can tell. The tag below the handlebars is worn but I can read the number that is stamped on the frame. Is this useful information at all? Thanks, David

sent off a fiver before xmas to the DVLA for some history on me xs400. In comes a big bundle today (all 13 previous owners) names and addresses. the bike was sold by Wylie and Holland in Market Drayton, Salop. They are still trading, so I wrote to them tonight and I'll see what they say! the bike then worked its way round Wales and Anglsey before ending up in Altrincham and then me (In bits) There is a mistake in the chassis/frame number from the outset as they have put an extra 0! nice to see and I may write to the previuos owners to see if they have any pikkies of the bike (it was Black at one time) drewps

The trailer is a 6x9 foot for scale. These have been on the ground for 20-30 yer=ars. Sad to say only 4 worth saving, and that is going to take a lot of work. Did mange to save some bades and a few petcocks. Well off to the scrap yard.

I have been looking at the Dt125 Lc between the years of 1981 and 1988. I am just starting my cbt, and would like some background information on them, i have done a fair few internet searches but they all come up with the same stuff, So....... How much should i spend for a good condition one ? What would be the best year to buy be ? What is the fuel consumption like ? What are they like to ride ? Would you recommend a 17 Year old to have one ? And has anyone got one in the midlands area ? Kind Regards David

Hey everyone my name is Greg and am now to this forum, I found a really good deal on a dt175 motor while in the process of gathering a parts list to rebuild my 125. Ican get the 175 for cheaper than I can build my 125 due to missing parts. Is this swap possible and what mods would have to be done. Im up for more power for less money. I have a 1981 (Ibelieve a dt125 e?) no title just off road. I bought it stripped down and does have a mono shock so I know the era not the model(I know it is not the dt125r because of the distictive gas tank. Any info would be greatly appreciated.(seens to be more parts for the 175 too!!! Thanks for looking!!

I saw an advertisement for a 125 DTMX yesterday, I was looking for a bike for a forum member who wants a classic 125 trailie, I came across this and I thought very nice and underpriced. I rang the number and apparently it was sold yesterday. The asking price £650 http://www.adtrader.co.uk/motoring/motorcycles-and-mopeds/yamaha-dt-dt125-lc-125-lc-trail-res_5196020.html Today I see it is on ebay, only just listed and already 6 bids, in front of what he paid at £655 and 6 days left yet!!. If you see a bargain you really must act quickly before someone steals it for profit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-DT175MX-DT-175-/200568035922?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2eb2c9…

Hi everyone, I am restoring my 1975 DT250 and have found a rear wheel off a 1974 Dt250 to replace my bad wheel with. Are they interchangable? They look very simliar from the pic. posted on Ebay. BTW, so my rear wheel as noted above has been dented and thus has a flat spot. I have tried (aggressively) to pound it out. OMG is that metal strong... it is hard to believe that any rock etc. that could have been hit could have done such damage!! Anybody else experience this? Lastly, are these not great bikes!? I remember riding one (in my quite distant youth)just like the one I am restoring and they are just a fun and smooth ride! Though I ride my KLX250 offroad exclusiv…

Here are some pics of my 79' xs400 cafe project. There is alot i am changing with this bike. Dont worry bars are on the top of the list (going to install some clip on's). And yes the seat is a fab'd steel pan. The gas tank is a 77' xs360. The bike has been converted to a single mikuni vm34 round slide. Plans to completely change the whole image of this once original bike. check the pics out and let me know what you think.

I have a 1974 MX250A that was recently taken out of storage. After servicing the carb, it fired up on the second kick. It is in pretty good shape and probably at about 90% original. the gas tank is plastic, but most everything else appears pretty original. The front tire is shot, but the rest appears to be performing well. Anyway, now that it is up and running I don't want to put it right back in storage. Does anyone have an idea of what type of price these things can bring in and the best place to post it for sale. I would hate for it to go right back into storage and I have a kid on the way so won't have much time to ride. I am in S. California about 30 miles ea…

Hi! Well my DT clan is progressing well, got the blue one on the road and the Mrs is enjoying the experience of falling off it lots. I got a spare motor for mine at a bargain price, so that has gone under the porting tools eye. Got a spare carb off a 350LC to try on it, so some fun to be had with the jetting ahoy! Anyway, My main problem seems to be with the 32 year old (same age as me.. neat) suspension. Bottoming out is part and parcel with even the smallest of jumps! I've been looking at ways round this and have seen a fair few jack-up kits on the Bay of E, but am reluctant to pay £30odd for something that I'd look at and make myself anyway.. I can see how the…

Thinking about wiring the tracker now and have accessed all the electrical sites, but want to pick your brain cells. I need to find a low profile connector for the reg/rectifier. ATM they are in 2 parts, but it would be great if I could wire it with 1 x 9 pin connector which can be fixed to the ally plate within the frame. Any ideas? what would be the thickest wire i would need, I'm thinking 2mm for ignition and reg/rect. any ideas? also thinking of replacing the original connectors with waterproof ones, but there are loads out there, what do i need to choose the right ones. prob only talking 4 or 5 connectors Any ideas? having to put in…

Hi all first off let me remind you of who i am. I left a post a wee while back asking for advice on riding a shaft bike as i had never done so. Well the advice was great and i have just had my first ride on my 1991 XJ900F and boy am i a happy man. I only went about 80miles and the bike was flawles up the gears down the gears accelerating and brakeing. And the comfort i have never rode a bike that was that comfortable. Any way got to go and try to wipe the smile off my face or the wife will be thinking i am having an affair. Thanks again for the advice and good luck to all of you's.
