Ok, so i have a 1993 Yamaha dt50mx and i am going to fit a 65cc big bore kit and a full gianelli exhaust system (front pipe and silencer) and was wondering if i am going to need to re-jet the carburettor because of these modifications. If anybody knows if i would need to do that and any problems i may have please let me know. Thanks.

I need help with my 1981 special 400. This bike has sat for years until my dad got it running last summer. He said it ran great except the slide was sticking in one of the carbs. Fast forward a year, I want to start riding again so I brought the bike home and cleaned the carbs and got the slides working real smooth. When I put the carbs on and started it up, it idled great. But, every time I even gently try to give it some throttle it dies. Did I miss something when I cleaned the carbs or could something be out of adjustment? Any advice is appreciated.

I have the following problems with a built 1983 SE SR 250 to 13kW: The bike was standing 4 years and was moved only sporadically. It does, unfortunately, only after an oil change, new spark plug and cables, and cleaning the carburetor only a top speed of 80-85 KM / H (with one person). In 4th gear you can turn minutes to almost 8,000 rpm (longer trust I am not), but when fifth in the Gang turns it rotates only to max 5300 rpm and has no power to say of slight slope they will be slower. Any help obout this problem ?? excuse my bad english.

So i'm finally getting serious about getting this bike back to good condition. Issue number one was wiring. fixed that by just making a new custom stripped harness. Issue number two was the fact that i'm running pod filters. I've upped the jets and upped the jets, but it was still just not running right, and frankly it was running dangerously lean (i came close to overheating it the other day). from my reading, my theory is that without the restriction and resulting slight vacuum from the stock airbox, the carbs don't pull fuel through like they should. In addition the slides won't respond correctly. The pod filters offer little to no resistance (usually a great thing…

Hi, I have a 1980 Yamaha XS400 Special that only fires on one cylinder. Recently, I cleaned the carbs, changed the fuel filter (the old filter was black and really dirty, and debris was floating around after I disconnected it.), and put new fuel in it then it ran fine. I then put some oil in it and it ran even better. Yesterday, I put more oil in it (since I didn't put a lot in it originally) and tried to start it up and it did so reluctantly. It idled at around 750 rpm, and stalled out a few times. It also stalled when I shifted into first gear. What do you guys think is a possible problem? I'm looking around these forums as much as I can for a solution. Thanks, Eric

I have been having problems getting my bike to charge. After riding it for a while, the flasher suddenly didn't work and afterwards I had to drive without lights home. I checked the battery with a voltmeter and it said 12v. Starting the bike up the voltage didn't change at all, even at 3-4.000 rpm, no change in the voltage across the battery terminals. Things I've done: Checked the voltage regulator, which seems to come from a Honda. I checked the regulator with an ohmmeter and it gave following results: Between Earth and Lights (I) - 36.6 ohm. Between Earth and Field coil - 36.6 ohm. Field coil and lights - 0 ohm. NE0 said that his regulator had a value of …

Hello again,I have developed further issues with the bike.Started the bike up to find it misfiring(left hand down pipe cold)Checked for spark and found no spark on left hand cylinder.I have checked the points and wiring with a multi meter and all seems in order.I have also checked the left cylinder primary circuit by connecting to the right cylinder coil and the right hand plug spark so I happy the primary side is ok.I suspect the ignition coil but when I do a resistance check as per Haynes manual the readings are ok?Could you please tell me the correct ngk plugs as the bike has B8ES fitted which are a colder running plug that is listed.

Hello Guys, I just picked up a 1979 Yamaha 750 xs Special with just 13,000 miles on it. It's been ran modestly since 1979 but has been sitting for a year now. Any thoughts in what steps I need to take to refurbish this classic?? I'm excited to have it as it is in really good shape, and was well maintained from original owner! Thanks Lenny

Hi Just started to build bike up after painting frame ,well as mentioned before been on with this bike for years, and the bits came from all over the world, so it is hardly surprising that stuff is not compatible !!!!! well just for a start have stuck harness on and stuffed front end wiring into headlamp shell to worry about later, only 2 components which I have mounted are flasher relay and rectifier these fairly sure are in right spot , have a orange & 2 blacks which look like they go to coil is this correct ? also although this loom is intact it seems as though bits missing/short like rear lights wiring is this a separate loom/battery area ,cannot see any connector…
