I'm looking for specs on the front end of the XS500. Namely the rake angle and trail. Technically I can work out trail if I know rake angle thanks to basic trig. I'm back at work on my bike finally, and I want to convert the front end to modern suspension. But I want to try and keep it close-ish to stock dimensions if I can. I just don't have the stock numbers to start. If anyone has been through this with the XS500 i'd love to see what was done, but my searching has turned up nothing for this bike. The tripple guys (750 and 850) seem to do this often enough.

Hello, this is my first post in this forum. I have bought an old yamaha DT125 Enduro/DT125E (Electric start), 1977 model. I have searched around the internet for a time, but ar not able to find parts catalogue for this mc. It has yamaha prefix cide 1G0 on both frame and engine. Ihave payed for online download manuals on the net, but each time i am getting for either 1976 or 1978, wich have another prefix. Do someone know where i can buy or download this manual?

Hey there, I have a 1983 rx50 with low miles. I picked it up off a guy who got it from a guy... long story short the thing looks mint but has obvious signs that it was left sitting since 83. I got the thing rebuilt when one night my entire house starts smelling of gasoline. I go out and luckily my toolbox was open and fairly empty as the tank decided to give out and fill up the box with gasoline. I had resealed the tank with a KBS coating kit and had used some JB Weld on the sides prior to the failure and decided to get a friend to help weld it up. I got it back and decided to start removing (or try at least) the tank sealer with some methylene chloride based strip…

Ive just managed to get my hands on a very cheap '81 xj550. She's a little rough at the edges and runs a bit lumpy but I reckon she is worth spending some money on and getting her put right. The clutch makes an awful racket, which seems to fade a bit when you pull the clutch lever in and the gearbox makes a nasty chattering noise at idle engine speeds when cold. The 5th & 6th gear wines like hell when cruising at around 40 - 50mph. The front brakes have been modified and something else has been put on, but they have been "washered" out to fit, and the front wheel has a spacer in it aswell, which makes my forks run slightly out of parallel ! The Carb…

Hey good peoples, Here's my 1983 XJ550 'project' that I have had since last summer with little time to do much to it. I'd be interested to know if it's a Seca or Maxim, or was that only in the States? Frame number is 4V8005168, same as engine number. But something don't look right at the back end... I suspect it been chopped, as has most of the electrics, basic 'hillbilly wiring' as the moderator on the XJ Bikes forum called it. Anyway, here she is in a very rat form... who knows exactly what this?

hey I recently found a dt100 I think it is a 1976. what do you guys think it might be worth not running but in pretty good shape. It is missing a few things like the head light and front fender. I don't have a picture of it yet as I haven't bought it yet. still working out the details with the owner. I'm just trying to make sure I don't over pay the guy. any info is much appreciated. also is there anything to look for specifically? Thanks Jeff

My turn signals are causing me a major headache. Let me give you some background: BIke has new 6v bulbs all around. New Flasher relay (2 prong its so hard to find a 6v 3 prong - so i have a ground that is wide open) Brake light no longer illuminates when I pull the brake and when I installed the new flasher relay it worked for about 5 minutes and now the blinkers and horn dont work. **Headlight works fine** Fuse is still good, even put in a new one and it didnt make a difference. All the bulbs are still good. In Short: -No Horn -No Turn Signals -Tail light comes on but does not brighten with brake PLEASE HELP!

Dec 1975 (build) DT 175 Enduro Trials and tribulations later, the bike is running, not perfectly, but running well. The "perfectly" part will be a function of the carburator. Anyway, here's the "first" in my life and not sure if anyone else has ever heard of this oddity... So, my son rides this bike. Arrived home from work and decided to try it out. So, upon starting it, the tachometer was not functional, cable was connected on both end, and then I engaged the first gear with clutch in... slowly release and I swear the bike's motor/gear pushed drove backward. Was this an anomoly or is sum-ting-wong? Bear in mind, I recently had the bike torn down and cams…
