Hi all, I'm looking for a few folk who have restored FZ750s in the (relatively) recent past to help with a feature in Practical Sports Bikes magazine. It would involve a chat on the phone (or email) and you supplying a high res photo of you and your bike to go with your words of wisdom. We're after hints/tips/advice/techniques - anything that might encourage our readers to have a go themselves. If you'd be up for helping, you can contact me at [email protected] or on 07875 736021. Many thanks in advance for any offers. All the best, Gez Kane, Practical Sports Bikes

Anybody see this episode. Henry Cole featured an XT as one of the icons of the late seventies before starting his trip through South Africa on a british bike. Nice to see an XT on TV.

I just checked out a 1973 TX500 head and it appears that I will have to split the cam-chain just to remove the head. Can anyone confirm this? I am also wondering now, is there enough room to remove the head whilst engine is in the frame? The engine is running well (low mileage) there is just a bit of an oil leak about level with the two inside exhaust bolts RegardZ

hi, while working on some electrical issues (flasher is not working any more; battery is not charged correctly) I found the rectifier that is mounted underneath the fueltank more or less molten down .... (where a double white lead meets a red one...) the rectifier itself is a black littel box of about 2cm) do you know from where I can get that part? is it yamahaspecific or can I use a generic one . .. hope that this is the root cause of my probs... cheers tom

Hi all I got myself an old XS 250 a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed riding it, it has a nice big bike feel is comfy and has enough performance about town to keep me happy and can cruse at 65 to 70 on longer trips. I am loving everything about it apart from the front disk brake it works but takes a big handfull to slow it down, it is working perfectly so nothing to improve there, also has a braded hose fitted. Just wondering if anyone has got an XS 250 or has had an XS 250 brake master cylinder apart and knows the piston Dia. If i can get one even a mm or 2 smaller i will get more PSI for the same effort, (travel will increase but i have room f…

Hi, I have a 200 cc Yamaha in bits, frame and engine numbers match, but both start with a star and 397 dash and the rest of the number. I also have another Yamaha 200 cc, seems very similar, but frame and engine number both start with cs3.... so that is clear. Does anyone know what the bike with frame number, star 397.... is.... Anyone got any parts for these, especially a rear mudguard. Many thanks, Cheers Jacques.

Hi..been off the forum for awhile as work intervened with my projects. Have acquired a XT just yesterday. Here`s how she looks..want to get it looking better. She starts easily..only thing when I took it down the road and tried to open up she started dying..fuel pouring out carb overflow..so I`m guessing float valve faulty again same as my DT175...a good carb clean no doubt required. What is with these Yamaha carbs? Although must say bike stood for 6 months.

hi all, I have to admit, that I was a little bit disappointed about the topspeed of my 78 dt125mx. --> not more than 90km/h (55mph) .. maybe the speedometer in inaccurate... my kawasaki ke 125 (1978) appears more powerful and is faster as well.. ... how fast should it go? ... any obviouse modifications to improve power? ... does the 175 barrel/piston/barrelhead fit? if yes: what else need to be changed in order to have the full dt175 power? thx in advance tom

So, last time i got to ride the DT was mud running though slush, on my way home on the road, my bike lost all throttle reaction and just started redlining, now everytime i start it it redlines, ive spent about 12 months trying to fix it, cleaned the carby, air filter, checked the throttle cable isnt jammed up, but it still just redlines as soon as i start it, i had to ride home using the kill switch so i could slow down because all it does is go flat sticks

Hey everyone, my first post to go along with my first bike i bought yesterday: a 1975 yamaha xs 500b it does not run i think the wiring is not hooked up right from what the previous owner said. i bought it to have something I will post many pics later on... It needs a lot of work i believe, but I have never worked on a bike or actually any engine although i am familiar with the idea of how they work. I know i will be replacing many parts but im not exactly sure how to determine which ones need replacing... It came with the repair manual, have not referenced it (and title of course)..So after getting the bike the biggest problem i have is where do i start? I have…

Hi Guys,i bought my mx 14years ago with 1k miles on the clock, since then i have only used her for a quick trip down memory lane once in a blue moon and she now has 1700miles but is starting to look tired.I am getting tempted to start getting a few bits blasted and painted but feel i may ruin the bikes originality, she has never been apart and is 100% standard. What do you guys think. Ps any way to put pics on here??

Having bought an Aug 1982 The Biker magazine a while ago because of its Project DT Enduro article, I finally purchased the June 1982 edition the other day off eBay. It arrived this morning and now with both DT enduro articles, I can now consider the small tweeks and things to make my DT175 worthy of my vision again. Its amazing that these 31 year old magazines are talking about just the type of things I have and am considering doing to my DT!

Hi everyone, I am looking at turning a sr 250 into a street tracker, The rear wheel is a 16 inch does anyone know if there is a 17 or 18 inch wheel that would fit this bike as i am unable to obtain 16 inch enduro tyres, I do not want alloy wheels they must be spokes, Does anyone know if i.e. rear DT, XT, SR 500 etc wheels would just fit straight onto exsisting mounting ?? Anyone out there experimented with this ??, The other option is to have the rear wheel rebuilt but i am on a budget lol, Can anyone help ?? Regards combat 41 Plymouth, Devon
