hi there, i'm thinking of buying a dt125 x the super moto version, just wondering if the engine has chaned much from the older type, i used to own a 1988 dt125r so i'm familier with the power valve, i know there is a servo motor kit to make better use of the power, will this kit fit on the newer engines, eg 2005 i can remember with the powervalve closed it was responsive down low but lacked top end pull, but open there was a big flat spot in the middle of the rev range any advice appreciated cheers, nick

Can we shorten the back shock? putting it on the lower mount hole is not quite good enough for a beginner, Peeking at the shock it looks like it may have a spacer at the top that I can shorten till my girlfriend gets the hang of it. Already dropped the forks an inch Not much weight on her so not really worried about lowering the back

right, i have a 2007 yamaha dt50r de restricted. its all completely standard. i drilled the hole out of the exhaust and cut a bigegr hold in the airbox. put a 110 main jet in the carb. its been running fine for about a month but yesterday it emlted the aprk plug. so i went out, got a new iridium plug. and went out today, all went fine..untill about 30mins into the ride. there was the same 'burrr' noise at high revs and the power went, let off the throttle and stopped. waited for 5mins. then started her again. rode her home (about 10mins) then thrashed her down the road, i think it all fouled the plug but not quite meleted. gouing too check in a second. is it running t…

Well found another cylinder for my bike, and it's a 1979 not a 1978. Anyways, it is very rough, but it is complete. Just needs to be cleaned back up and brought back to life. Should be a fun, fast ride when I'm done with it. But it was free, and I don't really feel like parting it apart. Inner tube for a seat cover... This has been cleaned now Cylinder was shot and then lost by previous owner... I'm going to replace several main bearings inside the case while it's apart Going to need: Rebore Piston, pin, rings Seat cover Work on the plastics or else replacements, including side covers Rear tire Tail light …

Now I love the XT...never had so much fun on a bike. But there's a few problems. Seating: 90% of my mileage is two up cos the wife likes going on the bike. Unfortunately the XT seating is not really designed for two people...it ends up with me nearly sitting on the tank and the wife half on the luggage rack! Power: 2 up does hit it hard, particularly uphills and in a strong wind. Overtaking has to be planned very carefully. Most of the time I'm revving it like hell to keep the momentum going. Brakes: Single disc up front, and once again, with the additional weight of a pillion it tends to fade a bit. Fine for normal use, but in the event of an emergency, …

I just got the bike and I would like to check the electrolytes in the battery. If it needs I will replace it but I can't even figure out how to get to the battery. I can see the leads and have been able to charge it , but I don't know what to remove to get to the battery itself. The manual doesn't tell you. Thanks

Hi everyone, I just joined a few days ago. Anyways my bike is an old 1978 IT 250 dirt bike. I got it from a friend of mine as it didn't run anymore and I started repair work on it but he lost interest and just let me have it. Anyways, what I am looking for is information on the cylinder jug. The piston had tons of play in it and so I removed the head, piston, piston pin, and cylinder. Anyways I removed the cylinder and piston so that my friend could take it somewhere and have it rebored and a new oversize piston could be ordered so that I could put it all back together and get the bike running good. Long story short, the cylinder was at his parents house wh…

Hey.. wondering if somebody could give me a little insight on this.. I have a Yamaha DT 400.. and sometimes when I shift.. I forget to hit the clutch.. BUT!.. it shifts with no problems with no clutch. Is it necessary all the time to use the clutch? Really just wanting to know incase i'm in the trail and my clutch cable goes on me.. I know that when I'm stationary.. I have to use the clutch to go in to neutral or first after stalling it in mud or something. Thanks for any help you fella's (and gals if there are any) can give me. -Derwood

On the carb (ignore the float bowl line and vacuum tube from afterburner to secondary carb and all other fuel links between the carbs) there are two outlet pipes at the rear of the carb (carb intake side). I suspect the one on the primary is an overflow, but haven't a clue as to the one on the secondary. Anyway, my inclination was to let them vent freely. Is this correct or do they have another purpose / connection?
