Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes

Anyone know of a list of Yamaha VINs? I am trying to determine what year my WR250Z is. Its VIN is 4JW 000573. Anyone?

I bought my first dirtbike tonight, Yamaha RT180, and it started up easily enough at the sellers and ran fine. When I got it home I couldn't get it to start. I replaced the gas, drained the float bowl, etc. On checking for spark by pulling the plug, grounding it, and cranking the bike over I'm noticing that there won't be a spark for maybe 15-20 cranks and then it will come on for a dozen or so and then go off for a while again. Really weird. Can anyone shed some light on what's happening? I really need to get this bike working reliably since it's elk season. Thanks.

any one got a manual for dtr 125 i think round about a 94 or 95 cant get it to run since i replaced the conrod and piston had it reboard dont thing i put it back to gether right think i got the timing right piston at the top then flywheel on all lined up did start wen i put a cap full of petrol down the plug hole not sure weather or not i lined the shaft inside the crank for the fuel pls help aint been on the bike yet and want it running

What do you recon I could get for this.. I will be selling it in around 9 months.. It has pretty much new tires.. new engine rebuilt, 60cc big bore kit and runs well. Top speed around 60MPH. please take a looks.. Cheers p.s sorry for the naff pictures i took them with my phone..

Is it worth while to fit a wr gearbox to a yz450.....???

I am brand new to this forum. I am just getting my 11 and 8 yr old boys into riding. I just bought my 8yr old a brand new Yamaha TTR50. I want to get my 11 yr old a used 90. Are these bikes supposed to be good? I have heard they would be good for them to learn on. Just wondering what your thoughts on this model bike and any other imput? Thanks

Hi anyone, I've torn down a 1994 yz250 two cycle engine only to find a burned piston and rod bearing. The crank case sections are apart. I need to pull the crank. Do I have to use the Yamaha "screw out the crankshaft tool" or is there another method to remove the crank from the right side? I have another spare crank and rod, so all I have to do is swap. Also, is installation the reverse of removal? Any proven methods would be appreciated. Many Thanks!

hey guys was woundering if any one could give some advice i got a yami dtr 125 and had new conrod piston and head rebord i put it all back to gether myself but it wont start first time i tried to start it it started but now it wont im not sure wether or not the timing for the fuel inside is lined up dont know how to do it any one know giss a shout pls

just wundering if anyone has any ideas on how to derestrict my 96 tdr125. i can only get it to 60 and it people claim it does 75 -80 in the reviews i have read. any ideas?

So I'll be picking up an MX100 in a few hours for the wife. It's a runner but looks like it wouldn't be out of place in a Mad Max movie. Cheap as chips so I bought it. I figure I would rather spend a few hundred on a beater first then if she likes dirt biking I'll get her something better down the road. Any of you lot have any experience with this model? Any tips or comments will be greatly appreciated..... I'll see if I can post some pics later so you all can laugh at it (and me). Updates will follow as I throw more money at this money pit.

Hi all first post and all. I have a DT175mx that apparently once upon a time was i would say raced but used in enduro competition would prob be a better bet. It then returned to being a road bike, then became a box of bits, then back to a bike,then i got it. Thing is she 4strokes like crazy unless you ride it like a full on crosser (no surprise)with big fat gobs of throttle. It goes well enough when you do this lifting the front wheel for the first couple of gears if you dont lean foreward, but trying to hold a steady throttle in town or traffic is becoming a real pain in the asre as the 4 stroking is steadily getting worse. Hi, new to the boards here! I have an 85 IT 250 that i recently resurected (well sort of). Bought it non running even though the seller said it ran when he parked 2 yrs ago. It needed a new CDI and i replaced that and got it fired up after flushing and cleaning the carbm, air filter, oil change. I have not been able to get it to run correctly into the mid range and beyond though. If i let it idle for a few seconds then hit the throttle it will resopond but then quickly start to bog within a few seconds. Hi Ive just bought a 1990 dt125r, i have replaced the wiring loom as it had been cut up by the previous owener. I know have a spark,cleaned the carb,when i kick it over it occasionaly tries to start, has anyone any ideas why it wont start? any help appreciated.

Hi everyone- I just started resurrecting a 1978 DT400E with 7,000 miles on it. Don't have a manual yet, but it's on order. I'll be spending a lot of time on these forums, I just know it. I received new fork tubes with the bike, which I'll be installing tonight. Could someone be so kind as to check their manual and tell me how much fluid goes in each tube? I'd really appreciate it. got a 1994 super tenere 750. has been missing terribly/losing power going up hill. changed plugs 5 months ago, went fine, but slowly gets back to square one. backfires when coming down hill/change down a gear., and struggles to get up hills - and misses badly and basically sounds more like chitty bang bang than a bike!.just changed plugs again and checked air filters, and it's going well again. old(ish) plugs were black and sooty. changing the plugs and getting to air filters has been the pinnacle of my mechanical career so far, and any suggetsions on what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated! jaff

Hi everyone, i am a new member and happy owner of a lovely blue 2004 dt125 re i have already de restricted it and now it has a little extra power( it had to be done it was shockingly slow lol.) (snorkel removed, jetted, ignition wire mod and derestricted the front pipe oem rear exhaust for stealth just a quick question please, does anyone know where i could get a hold of a replacement seat cover?, it need not be yamaha oem, as i intend to change the graphics (my next question so where do i get a graphics kit?, or could you direct me to a company/shop that supply new/different ones.? thanks in advance Darren.
