    Hi ive just bought a dtr 125 54 plate nice condition totally standard , i dont know anything about bikes but ive seen a lot with the dep exhaust system fitted. I was wondering if this system makes a lot of difference to the the power or if yo need to tweek up the engine to really make a difference. And also is it possible to just put on the silencer ? pete lancs

    I have a 1975 yamaha dt175, the bike is in great shape; I bought it from the original owner who kept it in his garage, it only has 1300 miles on it. When I bought it, the bike started on the second kick and was immediately drivable. He did tell me that the petcock had begun to leak, and so the fuel line was constant to the carburetor. He said it would be easy to fix, just an o-ring. I took off the cover(the one that says on, off, res)and replaced the rubber gasket with the four holes in it and i had to configure my own o-ring to go around the turn knob, but I am still having a leaking problem.     What should my temp needle be reading as mine is still reaching the far right at traffic lights !? Have topped up the rad with coolant and the expansion tank is reading full, but the needle still near enough hits the red (in the little gap between white and red) when idling for a short while. Theres no change in power or any noises or anything, just dont want it to run toooo hot ! I havent actually waited any longer to see if it does actually over heat, to concentrated on getting away from the lights for some air flow so the needle will drop ! Maybe me being paranoid !     Hi Does anyone know if there is a website somewhere that lists the correct paint code for the DT? I need to get a tank sprayed up in the colours in the pic, but the tank I have has already been resprayed a different colour, so I don't have a sample to match to. Also, the black on the side panels - is it a satin or gloss black? Cheers Lee

    Evenin all Right to start i am rubbish at maths unless its money then strangly enough i am pretty good!! The manual for this athena kit informs me that i should ditch the auto lube system in favour of premixing at 3% Fine easy enough but a bit of a chew carrying around oil. So in theory could i use the auto lube system as standard and just add some oil to the tank to make the mix up to 3%? Was thinking one of those super strength engery shot bottles. much easier to carry about than a full size bottle By any chance does someone have the figures for the standard lube system?     Hi. I have a 1997 Diversion XJ900S and it runs like a dream. Steady as a rock, But when I let go of the hands it starts to vobble. I have had bikes before and never experiensed this. Don´t say " keep the hands on". I just want to knew if it´s a diversion feature or a bug. What kan I do to prevent it? Are there any vobbling steer gas dampers to use? or is the barings of the steering axel bad? Best regards Anders

    So, i thought i was very near to getting the final DT up and running. I started work on the electrics and have now spent many hours trying to just get a spark. I have power coming from the generator as my dad found out "oops". But when i test with a multimeter just as the wire leaving the CDI goes into the ignition coil, its extremley weak, and i get no spark. I've come to the conclusion that either the CDI is shit, or the pickup coil is shit. Either way its all poop atm and im fed up for today so ive packed up ready to go to work. I've been trying to work from the the loom on my 2002 DT which works fine. The main question is has anyone got a CDI unit for a mk3 LC…

    Just bought my first bike in slightly more parts than i originally thought it would be in but its in much better condition than i expected aswell, just needs asmbly. come into a few problems two main ones at the moment. 1: throttle cable (from the splitter to the handle) has just been changed by me for a brand new one yet it still has the problem of the original one. It doesnt return to idle it just gets stuck. is this common? 2:which areas do the clutch/throttle/front brake go through from handles to there destinations. cant seem to figure that one out. is there a diagram anywhere?     hi all, new to this forum. just got me a dirt bike YAY.... anyways i have a 75 dt125 that runs good but needs a little work. I also got a 76 dt175 as a parts bike. Was wondering if id be able to use the exhaust, and sprockets from the 175 on my 125?

    my dtre 07 seems to dislike coolent, every time i top it up it just comes back out the overflow when im driving ive been leaving little puddles of it every where any ideas how to stop this would be great

    He I hope you guys can help me I'm new to working on bikes and have this problem I can't figure out. Last weekend I rebuild my front brake caliper. I bought the bike a few months back and after riding for about 20-30 min the brake would lock up. I found there was a'lot of rust in the system so I flushed it out and installed all new seals and purged the lines of air. I was out riding it today and it started locking up again. I hope somebody out here with one of these bikes may have an idea on what to do with it.

    Anyone in the UK got a lead on where to get hold of fork gaiters? Pattern would be fine. I measured the ones on the bike (no idea if they are original or pattern) and they are 270 x 30 x 45. Can't see this size on e-bay. Cheers Lee

    Folks- I'm new to this forum but it looks as though my problem may not be. I have a 1980 Yamaha DT 125 Enduro. I'm the second owner and it has about 5,000 original miles - garage kept (always) and not run for over 10 years. It cranks fine, but the problem is that the engine struggles at mid to high end of the power band and it smokes a bit (at high end). The jets are relatively new, and the gas tank has been cleaned and sealed. Air filter is clean. Muffler is ok, for 30 years old and very difficuly to find a replacemtn for - unless others haev ideas?? Perhaps a larger question is, what type of carb do I actually have?     Hi folks, I currently own a Yamaha DT125R trail bike and the carburettor keeps flooding the engine due to the float valve needle being worn. The carburettor on my bike is a Mikuni VM26SS and I would like to know if the Molkt 26mm carburettor would fit as a replacement to it? Or are there any other alternative carburettors for this bike?     Hi, have just resprayed a petrol tank in Halfords petrol resistant lacquer but feel it needs another coat. The instructions say it cant be re done afterwards but I did a test bit on the underside of the tank and it appears fine. Reluctant to do the rest of the tank until checked with someone who might have done it before. What is supposed to happen when you try to put another coat on, is it safe to try? Phil

    just wondering if any one had any ideas about geting my dt 125 to go faster iv done all the usal stuff to de restrict it its a 07 dtre what ive done modification wise is earthed the reed wire so it revs freely, big boy full system, boycen duel stage reeds,removed the two air bottles and blocked them off and removed the snorkle also turned the powervalve almost 180 lol i just had the thing doing 7o to 75 screwing it in 4th but as soon as i put it in to 5th it just dies powerwise the thing is heating up quick ive been told this is because of the amount of air the bikes getting and the lack off 2stroke and petrol ive been looking into ways of fixing this i was thinking …
