First of all Im new to the forums & Just like to say Hey to every1 who reads this , Now im looking for Someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge, I bought a yamaha dt 125 And the first thing i did was drop the gearbox oil , & put fresh in , But as i took the oil out i noticed something a little out of the ordinery , the oil coming out was GREY! , Now ive seen black and thats when it definatly needs to be changed , & if its a goldie colour its ok !? I may be wrong , Please please please someone help as i am totally lost as to why its this colour All the Best James

ryt am going to tell you everything what up with my bike at the min.i am having trouble starting it and 1nce it starts it runs for a few the cuts out and if i try and rev it it also cuts out .it has recently had since i bout it...... new standard jets ,spark plug,air filter,1 of my friends said that the float makes a lot of diff.so if it is set incorrect could this be stoping my bike starting , SMOKING!? when my bike start there is alot of white smoke comes chuking it out of the exhaust i dont know if this is because it hasent been ran in a while or what ,?? any replys would be thanked

Nearly finised my DT 175XM and am trying fo find some new original looking tyres. Its easy to adopt alternative 'paw print'but ideally I'm looking for the square pattern in 2.75x21 front and 3.5x18. Have ben searching for some time but the size and pattern keps turning up zip. (Tried V Rubber -close but wrong size and stopped making them) assistance,ideas very welcome. Tks

hi every 1 sorry to keep bombarding u with questions:) what are the standard carb setting for a yamaha dtr . the pin is on the 3rd mark of the needle,the bike kicks over but rens for few seconds then dies so i just wana know how many turns the air mixture screw is and if there is any outher things what could help it thanks

my choke lever snapped today and was just wanting to know if any 1 know were i could get 1 or if any 1 has 1 spare wich i could buy of them ? Ryan

Hello Everyone I have a 1998 yz 125 and there is a oil leak coming from the powerport. its not a drip either, there is a good bit coming out!! its on the right hand side of the engine beside the expansion chamber. there is also a good bit of oil coming from a run of from the powervalve anyone have have ideas what this is about?? i was told that it could just be a seal around the powervalve? any other advice would be appreciated! Hello everyone, And thanks webmasters for helping me out,was a bit lost indeed..well like I was saying hate to jump right into a question ,If I could would come over and have a beer or two lol...Anyway I bought this 1980 Yamaha 175 mx for my son to ride or at least to give it a try hoping he loves it as much as I did growing up,So this bike is getting fire although it is very weak ..note new plug and boot was bought.The manual says for the coil that the primary value for ohms should be at 1.0 +/-15% .but mine says 0.0 and the secondary is at 6.3 but says should be at 5.9 +/-15% But im use to a 4 cycle where you throw a little gas in the cylinder and if i hear it trying t…

I know its a slightly odd question and i think i've put it up before many moons ago but! Anybody out there know what causes a 2 stroke to 4stroke. Sounds stupid i know. My DT does it even after the rebuild. Runs smooth with big throttle but chugging in traffic and it starts to 4 stroke, its like a misfire but not. More every other ignition is a bit lacking and the engine gets a bit arsy. Like when they are full of smoke in the first 500yrds when they are cold. I know she started her life on the enduro circuit and i've been less than kind but i'm curious. I can wind the throttle fully open uphill into the wind from 20mph in top and she will pull cleanly right up …

anyone here know if the dtx speedo drive unit works with a dt125re hub? as i have the hub spoked into a 17" wheel and dont want to go spending money on the unit without knowing if it will fit thanks Jake

Having a little problem with the restored '79 DT175MX. With new bore/piston/rings the bike starts and runs very well until it gets warm after say 10 miles or so. At this point if you put the bike under load at speed at say 4000 RPM it sounds as though it is blowing from the head or pinking? once the bike cools down its back to 100% OK. I have had the top end off and all things seem fine (Gaskets, rings, torqued heads, standard factory exhaust,etc), Carb is not blocked. I am running the bike without the autolube at 25:1 mix with quality semi synthetic 2T oil.. Is it running lean and perhaps needs rejetting without the autolube? DO I need to block the autolube pipe? hi everyone just a quick pic of my green laner with polished yz upside downers i have made to fit,work really well and look the dogs,top yoke bearing nut etc needed altering,yz calliper and disc,standard re wheel.

iv a 05 dt125re dat i cant get past 52mph.. iv earthed de wire coming from de speedo, iv taken de cat out of the exhaust, engine is perfect i rebuilt it myself a few 100 ago. de bike will fly up to 52 then its like its smothering itself.. i think it must be the power valve because ther is no shortage of power but at 52 it just chokes up. iv read that de wire frm the speedo needs to be earthed to stop de power valve restriction but this clearly hasnt worked, any1 hav any ideas? thanks

Hi there, I am wondering if there is any way to change the speedo on my DT125RE 07 I have gone from a 21" to 17" wheel size, is it possible to change the speedo so it recognises I have a smaller circumference, with it being an analogue speedometer? thanks alot Jake

Hello, I have a 1987 DT 125 LC III that I am just about finished rebuilding. I am getting a spark out of it however it is very weak. I checked the resistance of the Exciter (source) coil and pulser coil as instructed in the manual (haynes) and got a reading of 378 Ohms. The manual says that it should read 180 +/- 10% so between (162-198)ohms. The manual states that if the coil is suspect by this test to remove the stator plate from the machine and take the assembly to a Yamaha dealer for further inspection. Is it possible to test these coils myself? The DT coils can be renewed individually if I can find out which one is faulty, I just don't know how to do this. Or …

top site, and great forums, hoping you can help a customer of mine. I import yamaha suzuki and kawasaki parts to australia and help people get riding again without paying through the nose. a bloke emailed trying to find a top clamp for a ttr 600 begarde (not sure if thats correct). all the parts fiches i work from are US based and that bike was never released in the uS. if someone can point me in th e direction of a site that has the TTR 600 parts that would be appreciated. hopefully it will also have dt 200's as i cant find them anywhere either thanks

Hi Finally managed to sort the electrics out on this bike, and am now ready to get some indictors. Anyone know what indicators belong on this model i.e. chrome? black? Also do the front indicators mount on the bars? Many thanks for any advice. Lee
