  2. I have fully restored a DT50 LC with OEM parts from the USA. Originally the bike was a project for my daughter when she was 14 to learn basic bike mechanics and restore the bike with me, but she was not interested. She is 18 now and the bike is under cover in my garden and is in need of a loving home. MOT until December 2010 and Tax until end March 2011. Unfortunately I don�t know what its worth so if anyone can advise I would really appreciate it.   3. hi i have just bought a yamaha 125 dtr off road,(year 1996 ) and the power valve has been tied open with a lace, . what i want to know, will this cause any problems when riding it. ! also how much would it cost to have it re-connected to the throttle, again," been told today it will need the full throttle and cables purchasing for it, to work properly, has anybody got 1 cheep as well, any information would be very greatfull many thanx wayne

Hi, DT125R 2001 and please someone tell me where the coolant tank is ? because the dope i have bought it from says the small tank at the back left is 2stroke oil ! and so is the one up the front right ! Im thinking this is now BALONY and that the tank front right that has oil on the lid is 2stroke oil, and that the small tank at the back left is the coolant tank !!! CORRECT ??? if so, i have run the bike so i now presume i have a radiator full of oil !!!???!!! any remedies ? Thanks for all your help guys on my other questions, as you can see im new to dtr's so all the help is gratefully received ! Thanks 2stroke ray

    hi all , after buying a xt125r and being a bit disapointed with the general performance , ok so 125s are low on power but this felt strangled to death !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so when up at sheffield motorcycle centre i saw a full arrow exhaust system for £220.00 i thaught why not , had it fitted so as not to effect waranty , bike was better but only marginally , anyway after talking to steve the service manager it was decided to renew carb under waranty as it was very hard to start from new and tickover was very irratic and it was definatly a bad carb , it was also dyno tested and rejeted from 105 to 110 jet, well what a difference , revs to the moon and now goes very very well ,…

    just wondering if anyone studied (and made a drawing) of the wiring under the flywheel - one thing i found while looking it over is one wire from the source coil goes to the condenser, and the other one is soldered to a jumper wire to the lighting coil,- is this correct? i need some basic theory -one end of the source coil is grounded and the other end goes to the condenser, ? all 4 of the leads coming out of the lighting coil (which i wont need) are continuous to ground- why is the source coil hooked to the lighting coil? (with the short heat insulated jumper)

  7. hi, i have a dt125r 2001. i was advised to clean the carb so i have. i have put the carb back in the bike but as soon as the petrol tap is turned on petrol pours out the overflow ? also when the bike is kicked over it sounds like its on full throttle ? someone said that the slide is stuck but when the throttle is twisted it sounds like the slide is going up and down ? have i put the slide in round the wrong way ? as for pipes, i have 1 pipe from the petrol tap, and 2 pipes going to the head of the engine that strangly seem to be coolant pipes ??? Please Help, i need the bike back running and need to get going on it tomorrow so all the help is gratefully received !…

    So i emailed the ebay member about that powervalve set with cables etc that was posted and they assured me it was a 3 wire version. This is what turned up. Is this not a 5 wire version?     Please Help Me ! I have just bought a dt125r 2001 13000 miles. The choke lever is allways on the up position. it wont start if i put it down and when the bikes running if i put the choke lever down it seems to put the choke on, revs higher and smokes alot, is this correct ?! it also seems to hold back at higher revs and just splutters and seems like it wants to go faster but cant. im not sure if the bike has been de-restricted or not or tampered with in anyway but doesnt seem right to me. i have changed the air filter and put in a new plug with no change to the running. i thought that usually choke on is up and off is down ??? is this why im having running difficult…

    Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew where i could find an alternative rear fender? I have the 1997 model and the rear fender swoops down, i wanted more of an enduro look for the bike, a slightly upswept fender like the Yz. Any ideas where i can find one cheers.

    The carb is clean, It's getting fuel to the carb but won't start, If I put alittle gas on the cylinder if fires instintly, Any thoughts? Thank You for any help Bryan edit I was riding it and it acted as if it were running out of fuel, Yes it has gas lol!

    Hi Just stripping down a 1981 DT175 I've just picked up. It would appear at some time in it's life someone decided to improvise somewhat (bodge), and drilled a new hole through the frame to mount the suspension in a different place - (to the left of the flange in the pic). I assume this was to give more rear ride height? Either that, or the shock that is fitted is shorter than standard. So 2 things - anyone able to confirm the length of the standard shock, and secondly, is this a common alteration? Lee Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    I have a dt 125lc 1985 and have just put another engine that i got off ebay in it but i cannot get it to run i have a spark and fuel but it just about runs and backfires and dies if you turn off the choke or try to rev it.I have tried a different carb and reeds but it makes no difference so i am wondering if its a timing thing or my cdi is not compatible with my engine,does anyone know a way of checking or are all the cdi"s the same.I was told by the seller that the engine came out of an 89 dt and mine is a 1985

    Looking to buy a 125 and I've seen a: DT 125R, year 2000 X plate, average condition, original blue bodywork, offroad tyres in good condition, good for about 65-70 mph, 11800 miles. Theres no service history or V5 doc or anything like that. And no idea of number of previous owners. The guy is geting an MOT for a year but no tax. What do you think this bike is worth cash in hand?     My Gilera RCR 50 has broken, and i don't know how. Recently the exhaust fell off but we welded it back on after a day or 2 without the muffler. THe exhaust has fallen off again and now it wont pull more than 10MPH uphill and 30MPH DOWNHILL!!!!!! IF i pull the clutch in it will cut out and it will not kick start. Can anyone help me Im desperate to fix it so i can get my 125. I know it's not related to a yamaha but i really need help, any help is appreciated THANK YOU!!

    Hi i have a 1985 XT350 , my engine had a knocking sound , so checked valve clearances. They were in the specified settings. I then pulled the camchain tensioner out, this was working fine. My search moved to the clutch basket , as i recently replaced the plates/corks, and springs. I noticed that the clutch basket had allot of free play on the basket. Yesterday i removed the basket , and i found the main shaft has 2 mm play (as you pull it towards you) a small amount of up and down play. Also the cog on the left to the main shaft that engages the kick start mechanism is very worn , like it needs a washer to space it out? I suspect a w…

    hi there, i just bought a 1986 yamaha xt350 and there are some problems... firstly the speedo reads faster than it should, goes up as a percentage...eg when going 20 it reads around 25 and when i go 30 it reads 40mph. is this normal for this bike? wrong size wheel? the bike also occasionally backfires, i noticed the exhaust is missing a screw so is not completly airtight at engine end, is this why? also the engine chokes at around 6500 rpm then continues through the revs fine...could that be to do with the exhaust? also are there any tips on starting the xt...can be a real workout at times! thankyou, any advice would be greatly appreciated. cheers max
