Hi there I've not long just bought a DTR125 on a 51plate. the bike has done 21K The last owner said he don't think the bike's had any engine work done, So I was thinking with it having 21K on the clock and no new top-end would I be losing out on power? I can get 65 nearing 70 but I'm hitting 8000rpm. I know the bike can do more as I've had one before. But I was 3 stone lighter. I'm now something 11stone.. So taken all this into account what do you think. I want to redo the top-end over xmass just for the sake of the 21k on the clock.

Hi guys, back again for some advice. Took the bike for it's MoT today, unfortunately it failed. Main reason was because of the horn. It was pouring rain all the way there and the horn refused to give more than a squak, even dried out. Ordered another one from Yambits so should be here tomorrow. Other failure point ws something I mentioned before. When the indicators are on the lights dimm/flicker/flash/"are adversely affected by the operation of another lamp" as the lad put it. Also when the horn button was pushed same thing happened. Could this be a bad earth somewhere? If so, is it just a process of going through all of them or are there any more likely than others? Or …

My MOT is due and its booked in for wednesday and im worried the tyres wont pass and tbh they are rubbish anyway (cheng shin ditchfinders !) so im after a good set. I very rarely go off road much so looking for somthing with more grip on the black stuff but cant seem to find much info ? also the sizes dont seem to add up when looking on tyre sites the sizes on the tyres say 4.00 x 18 rear and 2.75 x 21 front . Hi, I have a Yamaha DT 125 re (07) and I'm not sure weather it has a restriction of some sort, I have come to think this as I am unable to rev high in top gear all the gears have quite abit of pull in them too but top seems to not give this. is this just due to the size of the bike or a restriction, thanks Jake

Hi Every one; First of all I just want to say what a great site, I have been reading it for awile just for fun. Now I have a issue that has me puzzled. My 78 DT 400 with 5000 miles on it starts on the first kick and runs great for 4 to 5 min then dies even while excelerating it just cuts out and will not start back up no even a hint of starting. If I wait a hour or so it will start up again and do the same thing. I have had the carb cleaned and the petcock aswell it is getting fuel because when I pull the plug it is wet. I realy apreciate any help that can be offerd. Thanks Matt

well, just thought this may be a good thing to post. yesterday, my xt500 broke my leg. the kick starter kickback from hell. some how it cracked both my leg bones at my ankle, luckily for me everything is still in the right place and i have avoided surgery for now. this bike had given me a pretty good wack before, even left me a little bruised, but obviously nothing like this. so I was hoping some would be able to give me some hints. is this a malfunction or has the xt550 maimed before? I know that the auto-decompress was working properly because I had just recently had it adjusted and it was doing its job. has anyone else experienced such a nasty bite f…

I went to remove the reed switch restriction on my dt125 2001 but it had alreday been removed and put in a bag ect... But my bike still strugles to get over 60mph and rev over 7000rpm in 3gear up. If anyone could help i would be greatful Thnks Connor

OK, well, the DT125 is still waiting for me to get round to doing anything with it, but I've had my hands full runnng about after the G/F who has 'ideas'! Last one she had was to restore a bike..... so she took my 750 to bits! THOUGHT I'd solved that problem getting her a little Honda Super-Dream to play with, but no! We were looking at some old pictures & vids, of me trials riding, and NOW she wants to have a go at dirt-riding.... LUCKILY the DT is to tall for her to ride..... Hey iv just bought a dtr 125 06 model and was wondering about the ypvs, it seams to urn the rong way when i rev the bike. when i start the bike it cleans its self as it should clockwise then anti. when i start the bike it moves clockwise but when i rev it moves more clockwise, i thought it moves anti clockwise to the same place as when its off??? P.s. sorry for spelling nd gramer XD someone ellses vid but same thing

I recently bought a 1981 DT175. Maybe I'm expecting too much but it seems to be down on power. I ran a compression check and 1st kick had 75psi, 2nd kick 85 3rd kick had 100psi. The bike wont idle and niether screw on the carb affects the idle or performance of the bike. It only had 1800 miles (if odometer is correct) on it. Should this bike have a power band . It doesnt seem to when get the rpm's up. Any advice would help. Thanks

I was riding my bike the other day and i let it sit in the shed over night then when i went to start it it started normally then i let it idle for 5mins then she just died if pulled the carby out cleaned them the petrol filter was block and i cleaned that and it still wont star and if you let it sit for a couple of hours then try to start it it start for only 5 seconds if anyons has any idea's or suggestions please help me

Well, myself and OG compared Power valve operation today and it caused more confusion than we expected. I will let you see for yourselves and see if you can tell the difference and maybe explain the whys and wtf's! Heres mine And heres OG's Baffled (formally know as Vez).

Hi there i have a DTR125 2001 model, Ive only had it 4days. In the 4days ive been doing 60 65mph. I can reach 8000rpm but i dont wanna push it anymore as its got 21k mileage. The owner that i bought it off didnt know much about the engine and said that he dont think anything has been done to it. only when doing 60mph it feels like its saying i cant do anymore but il try.. also rattels is another thing ive no idea about. I know they can do about 80+ but i just dont think mine will even hit 75. 65mph at 8000rpm sounds abit strange to me. help please.
