  2. I brought one of these LINKY 6v 2.8ah/20 hours. The bike should be charging at a max of 2.3amps at 8k revs. 8k revs is in the red on the rev counter. Assuming the bike runs mainly (almost always) below this, would it be safe to fit this? The battery says that the initial charge amps should be 0.7amps The bike should be charging at 0.2 a at 2k revs to a max of 2,3a at 8k revs The battery is a VRLA type. Thanks.

Hello, I have just recently had a engine rebuild on the DTR125 and have been running it in, the other day the kickstart got stuck but me and a mate managed to get it running again. I have been out on it today and it doesnt want to rev over 5 or sometimes 5 and a half. I have no clue what this could be. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

  10. I recently took off the friction and steel plates to measure wear and re-lube them as they were constantly stuck together leaving constant drive when in gear. To get to the plates, I only had to drain the oil, take off the outer clutch casing, then the 5 springs. I didn't have to touch the push rod. I also disconnected the clutch lever and cabling. Anyway, that's the back story - I measured and lubed the plates which were a little dry but fine, put it all back together and re-tightened the springs to factory spec. After reconnecting the clutch lever and cable, I've found there is no tension or resistance when depressing the clutch lever. Strangely though, the le…

Hi guys, as you know I have got a knocking on my engine. Well stupidly today I thought I would take it for a little run as hadnt started it for a coupkd of weeks...well after a mile the knocking turned to loud tapping then lost power from middle revs...then cut out completely. Sounded like it was slightly miss firing. I recently checked the plugs..leads..valve clearances..did oil change...welded holes in exhaust. Am suspecting piston rings but had good compression. ..till today anyway. One other fault that may or may not be related is the starter motor has been electronically grinding....but I took that to be from lack of use and charge...hence the ride today? Anyon…

Ok, its after 2am and I'm trying to type on the world's smallest Friggin keypad (aka my android mobile) so I will be brief. My wee 99 fazer seat cowl is looking tired - some numpty failed to add enough protection under the soft luggage while enjoying the whiskey and wild women of Scotland ... Ok, just the whiskey. Anyhoo ... Can't find an unmarked one on fleabay etc and can't be bothered looking further. So, could I paint it I wonder? Mmm. Last painted the hall and living room but nothing as far as plastic seat cowls on a bike. Can anyone advise? Assume I'm an ejit and know next to nothing. Cheers.

Hi all Call me lazy but I don't want/have time or spare cash to reupholster my seat! I have noticed a half inch split in line with the moulded stitch lines. Does anybody have any tips to repair it? It's right where I sit so I know silicone type products won't be strong enough. Cheers

Would like to know if the overflow pipe on the right hand side of the carburettor is meant to be attached to anything. Currently has no pipe on it at present and what its for. Many thanks

  17. So, I've had trouble finding quality head gaskets on eBay... I finally broke down and called my local Yamaha dealer, who said he can order me one direct from Yamaha. It would be the Yamaha authorized direct replacement... he couldn't tell me much about who actually manufactures it, or exactly what it's made of. He said it should be the same size and materials as the original - basically, best available. I assume it would be the same one available through "yamahapartshouse.com" - that site brings up a part # 1W2-11181-00-00 which is what I think I would recieve.Link: http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/50041a8af8700209bc7858e1/crankcase-cylinder The only pict…

  18. I thought I would post this is case it would help clear up what to do if you want to register your imported bike. This should apply to non EU imports. That all said, I can't guarantee the following information but I am following this process at the moment and I will update on any progress or problems. This is what I was told, this morning by the HMRC people who deal with this. So you want to buy a bike imported from outside the UK? - I can see you nodding. You want to register it in the UK and ride it with pride? - I can now see you salivating. The process is easy (sometimes). All you need to do is take all of the paperwork and some cash to to local DVLA office, p…

I've currently got a fuel leak which looks to be coming from the fuel overflow. I ran out of petrol today and flipped to the reserve to get me to a petrol station. I filled the tank right up (almost to the top) and rode home (about 3miles). On parking, I noticed a puddle of petrol (also noticed this in the petrol station) and was wondering whether the overflow kicks in if you fill the tank right up to the top, or if there's a problem with the carb? I've taped up the pipe (I'm assuming its the overflow as I can't see anywhere it would connect to) so that's stopped the leak for now. Bike starts and runs fine without any obvious problems by the way.

  20. Hi, I have recently acquired a YBR 125 that I was told was a 2012 model but I am not sure of that, can anyone tell me how I can confirm the manufacture date of this bike? I would also like to find a service manual for this bike as I am getting some spluttering when idling and would like to find details on the carburetor adjustments etc. Thanks for any help! Gerry
