Hi all! (I feel like a foreigner amongst all you Yam owners, Kwaks are normally my thing) Until now! Right! So looking for help, advice, info! Currently rebuilding the above Teezer, got the engine back into the frame and ignition electrics all wired up, wanted to make sure the motor was sound before i progressed, (had the engine split to do the crankshaft oil seals) Anyway, rigged up a temp fuel supply and she fires on the 5th kick! Revved and idled perfectly! Engine sounds tight and sweet with no rattles! Next day decided to tidy things up and noticed 2 "O" rings in the gasket set packaging! Ah! Power valve seals! I have a 1979 Yamaha XS750S which I have recently purchased, I have changed the oil , and filter. Put high octane gas 92 in the bike and now I noticed when I get up to 5000 RPM and over which is way before redline the bike starts to sputter and choke, As if its not getting fuel it begins to cut out. I am wondering what areas to address first and if there are any veteran mechanics on this site please advise me as I can not afford to send it off to the shop they will rape me in hourly wages to do any sort of mechanical repairs ! hi guys im having a lot of trouble with this xj600 . 1991 pre div I bought it as a non runner to do up over the winter months I was told it had fuel issuses and poss need a carb clean . so I got it home tried turning it over and was turning freely using the starting motor but wouldn't kick into life. so I took out the spark plugs one by one and turned over the engine only a spark on 1 and 4 plugs. which leads me to believe the coil could have gone.. as theres 2 coils and 1 and 4 are on the same one. . . now here is the most annoying bit. Hi can any advise i am having major issues with starting my 2008 YBR2008. turn the key the electric start, fuel pump primes and tuns over without firing. it flashes 1 long and 9 short flashes on the engine managment light. This morning it did not want to start fired a few times and cut out then fired and run. got into work an it wnot stat at all. any suggestion to the engine falt code and potential issues. i have replaced the plug with no change. thanks for the advice regards chris

Completed 500 miles with no problem and I'm now experiencing a lot of slip. The only way I can describe it is as if it is not engaging properly. I have had issues in the past where I would get a secondary click as if the clutch was fully engaging after releasing the lever, now I am not getting this. If I use more than half throttle in 2nd gear and up she just revs and loses forward power. The only thing I have done is pour oil down the cable (I loosened the adjuster off at the lever but put it back exactly the same). Is there anything I can check without the need to buy gaskets before payday? There is enough freeplay at the lever and the clutch arm at the engine returns f…

Evening all, any clues? Having a few issues selecting nutural when in 1st gear. I've replaced the clutch which has helped, however it's still very stiff. It's better when the engine is warm. Turn the motor off and it selects nutural easily? 2nd to nutural tends to flick through to 1st so you end up juggerling between 1st and 2nd. No problems when riding, clicks through the gears with no problems whatsover Any help/advice/thoughts. Best Dunc6001

if you take an electric start bike with lights etc an change to a motocross engine how hard is it to wire up the existing lights to the magneto I assume this is the same as making an mx bike road legal however my bike has a battery if using a kick start engine do I still need to use the battery

Well guys...had a lil time on my hands...so no time ta see what the issue with it...ive taken the engine out...took rear wheel off...brushed and cura-rusted...now to spray rust spots...strip the engine...and figure what went wrong Keep ya posted Trying to upload pic but not working from phone??

Woke up from a messy night to find i had bent my front forks not to the point where the bike is not road safe but its an eye sore and makes cornering dodgy. I was due to re up the fork oil and replace the seals but i have bigger problems now lol The chrome fork sanchions are bent at not the top yoke but the lower yoke. Iam curious could i take this some where to get them re bent into shape and not have to worry about them. Or do i have to replace the sanchions. Also i have found a few DT125 fork sanchions that i can pickup cheap would they fit the XT125x? thank in advance for help

Speedo gone on my Xt125X (2009). I'm looking at replacing it with a universal speedo and can find some of the wires from the original speedo connection ie indicators lights full beam does anyone know what the neutral gear signal should be, complete wiring diagram would be very useful many thanks

My friend has a 1983 Yamaha Maxim 550, its his first bike and he got it just 2 weeks ago. Well, he forgot to shut off the key so his battery went dead. We jumped the bike, got it running for a few minutes. But when I took the cables off, the bike stayed on for 30 sec more, then just died. We tried jumping it again, with the same result. Once the jumper cables are off, the bike would just die. Does anyone know what would cause this? Im guessing some relay or electronic component. However, mechanics would be my area of expertise, and electronics my Achilles heel. So, truth be told.. i dont have a clue The extent of my knowledge being that once running, if i…

Hello everybody! Just needed a bit of advice, my bike started losing power whilst on a ride to pick up medication for my pregnant girlfriend and I located the issue. It looks like a duff grounding or possible shorting somewhere within the electrical system. However, I needed some advice concerning the regulator/rectifier, the red wire was loose and had come off and I can't for the life of me find the details in my service manual. Does anyone know which pin it should go to? Hey Guys, Taking a break from customising my Dragstar 125 since the bloody thing wont turn on today. Worked perfectly when I drove home from work yesterday and this morning there's no power. Turn the key, press the ignition - nothing. No lights on the speedo, nothing. The battery has charge (gave it a top up today just incase) and the fuses are ok. Any ideas? Having to get the train full of nightmare kids till I fix it. Save me from teenagegers. Much thanks in advance, Steph

Hello,I have a ybr where I have to pull the clutch in to start the bike in neutral and have the side stand up, not a bad thing however I shouldn't have to do it that way, also my neutral light does not come on when in neutral, any ideas what it could be? And what is the neutral switch could it be this if it is broken ? Thanks

Can any one help I have a 2008 YBR125 with start problems it start but won't fire. The engine managment light flases one long flash followed by 9 short. This is a intermittent problem but is a bit of a pain. I have replaced the plug and air filter. Any know what the falt code for the above!! regards chris

hi has any one brought a new clutch resently for a dt 175 mx and not been able to fit 6 plates as im having a night mare ,i can only fit 5 and its slipping like hell ,ive mesured the new plate and there 4 mm not 3mm as the book says ,this the second clutch i ve brought with the same problem any idears thanks steven

Hello, got a question. my 1995 virago1100 runs great but once I run it down the highway shut it off and continue on the highway(after the first fuel stop ect) it hesitates. so if I cruising along let off the throttle decell for a few seconds and hit the throttle again it falls flat on it's face and then takes off like a rocket. but after a while of running like its it lacks power(doesn't feel as powerful as it should). I fixed a broken vacuum cap which helped a little. any thoughts or common issues that can cause this? I plan to clean the carbs(hoping to find something simple like dirt or aluminum corrosion flakes in a jet). any help would be great!

I have a 1977 xs 360 that wont start. When i go to kick it the motor wont turn, but the kick starter will still push down. It wont jump either.
