HI guys, after a snapped exhaust and a broken ankle I have finally managed to get back on my DTR after about 3 months, so I noticed I only had full beam on the headlight and my tail light had blown so I got a couple of each ,fit one and keep a spare in the shed, anyway all was well when I fitted them but when I got home I noticed the back light had blown again so fitted a new one again it worked but as it was standing there I revved the bike and puff the bloody thing went again , so it seems to be when I revv the bike I blow the back lights, any idea what is causing this? and how to fix this. rather annoying this as its dark when I go to work and dark when I come home and…

Hi all, Again, probably a bit of a silly question but genuine lack of knowledge on my behalf. What should I be doing in the wet/winter season to look after my YBR? I know all the regular stuff but I'm worried all this water is doing damage; I haven't been riding often (floods, floods everywhere!) and the bike stands (covered) in the street as I'm a city dweller. All this isn't boding well- there's beginnings of rust on the chain links which I'll try to deal with ASAP, but what else should I be looking after/ out for? Thanks!

  4. hi there i have an 09 YBR 125 ESD, the rev meter/tachometer is not working anymore,it won't show above 5000 rpm(even at full taps),it used to work fine, ive already checked battery conections, and cleaned out dirty connections in the plugs behind the tachometer,I'm not shure if the rev gauge is mechanicaly driven off the crank,or if it is electronic...I prefer working on the bike myself so if anyone can suggest a DIY sollution for the problem...PLEASE HELP!!! - regards from SA

can someone please explain the technical and cosmetic differances between these two bikes,i have seen both these bikes for sale and they look almost identical, but looking for parts for the dragstar is like looking for hens teeth, yet the internet is awash with spares for the virago, are the spares interchangable or are the bike parts unique?

Is there a successful, recommended way to remove this? Just picked up my new ybr and think it needs treating before i give it a once over with acf50. Would rather not take bits off as its all new to me. Sorry if this is asked loads. Im resigned to the fact that the swing arm will need painting too but can that be done while its on the bike and with a brush so not to get overspray? Also what paint and primer is recommended? Swing arm is black which is straightforward enough but what able the panel in front of it that holds the foot pegs? I can upload photos tomorrow if necessary. All chrome work is fine as it goes but bike side of exhaust has a bit creeping. Going to tr…

The crankshaft on my 250LC was stored in plastic bags drenched in oil many years ago. Upon removal it seemed to be in good condition and the bearings seemed ok. How do I go about degreasing it and removing any contaminants that may be on it. Is it just a case of placing it in petrol and giving it a good swill around. Thanks.

Hi guys hope you all had a good Xmas and have a prosperous new year I have bought some fork protesters for my WR. I was going to let the garage fit them when they service her but I might as well do them myself. I have looked on YouTube at tutorials so I know what I'm doing the only problem is I need to get a torque wrench. I tried using a standard ratchet but the bolt was too tight. I'm just wary about using a torque wrench as I've no experience with one. I don't want to over tighten the bolt or damage it some other way.

Hi peeps, Will have a new project in a few weeks, im looking to see if the XT125 engine and the YBR125 engine share the same parts, its the gear change fork on the end of the lever that i suspect is at fault, got a quote of £36 from my local dealer (probike, newbury) which seems a bit pricey imho

  14. Hi, new to this forum. I'm buying a Yamaha DT 125 RE soon (not sure which year yet) and I want to do quite a look of work to it, performance and visual. So I have a few questions. Can I put RFX levers on a DT? (Footpegs, gear shift, clutch, and brakes?). I will be putting a full DEP system on the bike. Can I have Boyesen reeds installed? Also other than the exhaust which derestrictions are there? I want to be able to get the best performance out of this bike.So if you can list some good performance/visual mods then I'd be grateful.

  16. I need to replace chain and sprockets after a chain break. I was thinking I might fit a 16 tooth sprocket on the front for more top end speed. Does anyone know if this will fit in the sprocket cover without fouling, how many links would I need in the chain, and would the loss in acceleration be that noticeable. Any help/advice would be appreciated

Hi, when you put crankcase halves together, in my case a 250LC, what sealant do you use. I've seen Yamabond 4 mentioned but it seems hard to get in this country (google search). Cheers

Hi Guys, I have a DT125lc mk 2 which was running great until MOT time when my side lights failed to come on. On further inspection and after referring to the Haynes manual the wiring was a bit of a shambles. Decided to rewire the bike behind the cowling as the rest of the wiring looked ok. Basically somewhere along the line I lost my spark via the coil. I found a flywheel current via a voltmeter and connected this to the coil - no spark still? Once I had connected a wire with a current to the coil the current disappeared? When I removed the wire and tested it again there is a strong current?? Im better at mechanics than I am at electronics! Any ideas? I dont want …
