Hi people of the Yamaha Ive got a Rieju 450cc mrt and it came with the best engine around A Yamaha WR450cc 2005 Now the new chain i fitted just happed to push the engine protector into the "left" crank case and put a nice little hole for me to find on a bend. so ive been in and of the road for 16 weeks but im well on the mend enough to take the engine out he he :-) So heres the thing Yamaha say they have no come back for the engine numbers i gave them because its a third party company ect ..... the right side case has ST510 Y-1 and the one i wont says STJ00 y-1 on the case Ive seen plenty of left side cases around the same year for wrf yzf on…

So Ive been having some battery problems. Bike wont start on start button, only kick and I now the the 46 error code which means battery problem. Voltage is low on the batt so ordered a charger so I can do some testing on that. NOW, i realise the battery is incorrect. Yamaha parts list starts to use a YTX7L-BS Yuasa battery which is 6amps but the one i have is a Leoch LB5LB which is 5amps. Could this be the source of all problems and a battery swap will sort it out? Further to that, if i need a battery, will only the Yuasa work or can I use any battery of the same type (YTX7L-BS) I have seen Lextek on ebay which is a lot cheaper than the Yuasa - but do you get wha…

Everyday I get to know my DT175 MX more and more, and today as I was reving it high up since the few start up it wants to get reved high up or else it would die so that's another problem I'm facing but now back to the exhaust point, I saw smoke from the bottom of the bike, for a moment I thought it was the engine, but I'm pretty sure its from the bottom of the exhaust what looks like a leak. I can't find a donor bike especially in Greece, these DT's rare come up for sale. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

As we all know the the debate about high octane and 2 stroke barely ends. So my question will basically go around this topic but not go indepth. So, recently I purchased a 1980 Yamaha DT175F (MX) and due to the fact that I'm lately busy, I just kick start it on weekends for a few mins then turn it off. So I was thinking of getting 3 or 4 gallons 100 octane and since my local shell gas station has got an offer on 100 octane for a while now so I wouldn't pay a alot more for the normal 95 octane. The reason for me wanting to get some litres of 100 octane is that it stays fresh for a longer time inside the tank rather than both affecting the fuel it self and the tank when nor…

Some rare sunshine in Surrey today so I took out my bike to try out the new Cobra slip ons that I fitted. sounds great until I slow down then I get a lot of popping and farting which don't sound so good. Anyone got any ideas? I was led to believe I could fit these with no problem but doesn't seem the case.

Does anyone know if there is a deadman switch on the SR125? I had my chain snap this afternoon and the engine stalled. Is this supposed to happen or could there be damage to the engine? After just getting it home on a trailer I have just tried starting her up, the engine turns ok, but is not igniting. Picking up new chain and sprocket tomorrow.

Bought my first bike and stupidly didn't check this (didn't check VIN either but luckily that matches). V5 arrived today and the engine number is different. On the bike there is 2 lines of numbers on the engine and looks like this.. *E399E-* then 2nd line looks like this (i put questions marks where the actual numbers are: *??????* On the V5 it looks like this. I put question marks for some of the numbers.. E399E0?????? So the first few characters match but basically not the 2nd line of the engine. The owner didn't mention anything, I know I should have checked and asked but is this heard of to have a partial mis match before I go back and ask …

I'm in the process of replacing the old ball bearing headset for new taper roller bearings. Bottom outer race went in fine, top went in fine also. However, when I reassemble the completed yoke back together, I can't screw the nut back on as if the shaft isn't through enough to catch a thread. I've definitely got the bearings and seals the right way about too. Just something isn't quite right and I'll end up having to remove the new outer races, possibly damaging them in the process.

Whether tis nobler to get new rings and a new hone, or whether tis good enough to use piston rings and cylinders that were just done in September? Should I get a hone job, and new rings, or should I just install these as is? They're out of my parts engine, the guy who sold it to me said they were just done in September...and I trust his word, so I'm thinking I save myself $200 in new rings and just use these! So, haven't run it since buying it last week, go out this morning and didn't start on first button press. Turned it off and tried again and it started. Continued to start a few more times throughout the morning whilst I was checking & topping up the oil and before I went out for a ride. I managed to put a little too much oil in so it went above the max marker slightly. Now, during the ride, went to the garage to check the tyre pressure and when I pulled up, i put the side stand on with the engine running so it cut out. Did the tyres and went to start up again and wouldn't start. Tried a few more times and each time the starter was struggling more and more. I left it…

Hi guys, I'm in Japan riding a little FZ250 manufactured in 1988. It's very similar to the FZR250 race replica of that era. It's been a good reliable bike most of the time but I've left it sitting for a few months now unused. I've been running the engine about once a month but with winter I've been a bit tardy in my maintenance. Now the bike battery is flat, so I was cranking the engine using cables connected to a car battery as the bike battery was flat. The engine started cranking as usual, but it didn't fire. I tried again but suddenly lost all electrics (lights out & now power to starter). I checked the fuse but it appears to be OK. There's a …

Well what a night that was! Pissed off is slightly an under statement to say the least. Started off by getting the throttle grip sorted (now running a single pull cable) then moved onto putting the clutch lever on. Connected it up pulled it and it just stayed pulled in, didn't return?? So checked to see if I run the cable wrong but it's fine not pinched or nothing. So looked at the lever that's on the engine and it's popped up and is as limp as a dead dog. Stuck it in gear and pulled the clutch then turned the prop shaft and the clutch dose not disengage. So, I'm now going to have to strip the whole #@***$¥§ thing down again to find out whats gone wrong unless you …
