When my DT175 idles when warm it does so at about 2300 - 2500 r/min. I thought that was quite high so I checked the service manual and it mentioned adjusting the throttle stop screw to achieve a better engine operation. My questions are: A) Does my bike rev higher than usual or shall I go with what the manual says? B ) How does the throttle stop screw work? C) Doesn't it cause the engine to run lean by any chance? D) Does it only affect the smoothness of the idling or the also the rev range? Manual: Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just swapped out the plugs that were in the bike when I bought it last spring. The ones I pulled were soaked with oil. I am new to the world of 2 strokes. With the new plugs in, the left cylinder wasn't getting much power. Exhaust from that cyl wasn't getting hot at all. I did just order new plug wires. What things should I start looking for as the cause of the fouled plugs?

Despite being a trainee electrician this has got me in a pickle soo everything was fine and then I went on a nice long ride this after noon and now when I press/ pull the break it lights up as it should then it's delayed turning the light off, also when I have my lights on the back light just doesn't light up at all, it only started today, the other day i gave bike connections a check over and everything was solid soo what's your opinions on what it could be? Loose wires or something else?:/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello guys, recently a friend gifted me a helmet that he used to ride a few years ago, other than the fact that I don't how good the brand is (JHL) and some dirt inside, it's fairly fine. But I was thinking about repainting it the same colour it already is. Is it possible with just some sand paper and a can of primer and spray paint? Or is it not as simple? Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all I''ve recently took apart the barrel /piston etc and was wondering if I could put it all back together I.E putting the piston in the barrel then putting it together with the gudgin pin instead of trying to squeeze the piston into the barrel whilst it's sitting on the conrod Just thinking out loud as I would of thought this will be a lot easier

Hi, My DT 125r just recetly lost its spark. The electrics on it are from a tzr 2rh and i figured the problem might be in the stator since i just recently machined it to be able to adjust the ignition timing. Anyways, i just took the resistance readings from the stator and got: yellow and brown = 35 ohms black and blackred = 723 ohms whitegreen and whitered = 349 ohms all the white wires from the threeway connector = 0,3 ohm I cant seem to find the working resistance readings from anywhere... Does anyone know these or have experience? Thank you for help

Had my bike running perfect all ready for my trip at the end of the month but we're never really happy are we, always think there's something else to do. so I decided to fit some roller head bearings, big mistake! while pressing the lower bearings in place the roller cage came apart, I was being careful to only put pressure on the inner race anyway greased it up put it back together and thought I'd got away with it as it seemed OK but when I reassembled the bike steering is stiff checked the book it say's tighten then back 1/4 turn but to get mine smooth I have to back more than a full turn doesn't feel good at all, anyone got any idea's

I was thinking about adding a carby air filter, is it worth it? Better in terms of looks and breathing for the engine. If yes, whats the optimum jetting and what size is the stock factory carb? Thanks in advance

Hi all. I'm a bit of a biking newbie (read: total newbie) so not even sure if this is anything to worry about... I've noticed a strange noise when I open up my throttle. It's starts off fairly quiet, and gets louder as the bike warms up. It's hard to describe, but the best way I could manage is that it's a rhythmic ticking/clicking sound. It speeds up a bit as I open the throttle fully, and cuts off completely the second I let go. I can't seem to replicate the noise when the bike is standing, but when I'm moving it's that loud I can hear it with my visor closed & in traffic. Bike seems to pull just fine, no issues with performance at all, just this bloody …

Hi guys, I dropped my bike this morning on my way to work (first ice of the year ), picked it back up and it started just fine and I went on my way. When I've come to go home it wont start. The starter motor kicks over and it feels like its trying to start but just cuts out. I get the low engine noise for 1/2 a second. I tried bumping it and it got the same thing. Battery and fuel are fine I think it might be the immobiliser or fuel injection cut out thats stopping it firing but I dont know how I would go about checking those (mechanical novice here) Any advice or other ideas? Thanks

Hey hey So I posted that thread last week about the indicators not working and then solved it by just replacing the fuse. Guess what? It's happening again! Solid left indicator dash light, no actual indicator lights. What the f*ck? When I depress the back brake, it stays there. I have to lift it with my foot. Can't imagine that being hard to fix though. Battery has gone pretty much flat again, despite fully charging it no more than 2 and a bit weeks ago. I can only start it using the kick start. When I do start it, the choke has to be off(?). If it's on then it won't even attempt to start, and if I kick start it with the choke off, then turn it on, it just die…

  17. Hi, My bike was stolen and after getting it back it will no longer show the neutral light when in neutral (the light is not broke as it has worked for me once when i was driving it the other day i put it in neutral and it worked) when the light is not working I can not start the bike with the kickstand down even when in neutral gear and the bike will also only start with the clutch is held in. Do you have any advice on what could be the problem? also I know It goes into neutral because im able to move the bike without holding the clutch and also when starting the bike via holding the clutch in I can let go of the clutch and it will idle for me Thanks for any help

Been getting steadily worse now its revving high all the time. Applied some lubricant to the cable but hasn`t made much difference. Next step is to replace the cable but could there be a problem with the slide sticking in the carb?

Just back on my SR125 SE after bike being laid up since Nov after a chain break. The clutch seems to be slipping when changing gear, engine races for a bit before settling down after letting out clutch sometimes have a job getting up to 50 till warmed up. Bad when pulling out of a junction, as bike is outside in all weather's but under a cover my thinking is it is hopefully just a stiff cable any other ideas anyone. Bike just clocked 9000 miles today though it is a 1996 model.
