    Hi all, I have an XS250 when I bought it it was a just runner! I have done some work on it and now it is a runner but when I try to pull off in 1st it seems slugish as though I am in 2nd not 1st. Any help would be much appreciated.

    I am completely new to this forum, Yamaha ownership and indeed geared bike ownership. I have dipped my toe in the water with the purchase of a 1981 XS250. This may or may not prove to be a smart decision. Currently it's not looking smart, at all! I've enjoyed 7 years of relatively hassle free scooter ownership/riding but decided it was high time to put my full licence to good use. I fear though that I should have checked this forum out in advance of buying the bike (how many bike owners feel like that I wonder!?!?).     Hi guys, I've come back for a bit of advice on my little ybr. I've got it up to 23 k miles now and in the last week I've noticed a whirring type noise coming from the left hand side (chain side) of the engine when its warm (can't notice it when its cold) Also when I turn it off it makes a final whirr, kind of like when you press the button to turn a hoover on but not hard enough so it just goes for a second, that sort of whirring/motor type noise (sorry thats the best way I can describe it) Now I have tried turning the bike off with it in gear and the clutch held in so I doubt its anything in the gearbox, likewise I don't think its anything in the clutch. …

    hi room,does any body know of a vacuum type fuel pump for an xj600 yamaha or is there a replacement i could get instead?ive heard that mikuni do a vacuum pump for a snow machine that apparently works but has anybody heard the same or know of another pump i can get, thanks jeff

    Hello all. I'm having a problem with my low beam at the moment, any insight would be much appreciated as it's really starting to do my head in. Basically I have no low beam/dipped lights. Only the side (parking?) light works when switched onto low beam. The full beam is fully operational however. It all started a week ago or so, after a ride through some real boggy woods where I dropped her a couple of times and knocked my rear indicator off (I've taken them off now).     Hi everyone Developed a problem during the week where I can't get neutral. When you try you can feel it coming out of first but no green light as you let out the clutch you can hear it clicking up to second, it's the same when you click down from second you feel it's in neutral but no light then it clicks into first,

    Hey All. Being an all year / all weather rider my bike is pretty much dirt encrusted all the time. I clean it then a week later it's back to being a dirt ball. This doesn't bother me at all but my front wheel rim is constantly getting rusted. I've cleaned it back and ACF50'd it to an inch of it's life and 2 weeks later the rust has returned. I can't afford to get it (and the spokes) re-chromed though. I also tried a clear paint, WD40 Hammerited rust gel and more but they were crap from the word go. It's kept in a bike barn overnight and I try to wipe it down but it's not the easiest thing when the rain is still hammering down as you park up for the night. Any sug…

    Hi all, last year I holed the piston on my 1979 dt175 mx, the debris made its way down into the crankcase which means I've had to strip it all down, got the crank cases separated eventually and the bearings, the big ones, are these the main ? are hard and lumpy to turn so I guess will need replacing. The thing is how do you get them off the crank ? I've never stripped an engine before and think I'm in a bit above my head. Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

    Hello Again Guys I've got a problem with my XJ6N's cooling system. I was on my way to work yesterday and got caught in a bit of traffic when I noticed the fan did not kick in when my bike hits 100 degrees. Once I got to work, I checked the fuse and found that it had blown, I replaced and let bike warn up in the hope fan would come on but it didn't. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hello there, as the season is going to start pretty soon, so i was doing test rides with my Yamaha DT125x, but... The 1st till 5th gear is really responsible - they are going well in full thortle, but when i put in 6th gear (im at 80km/h) there is no power at all in 6th gear, if I really try i can reach 90km/h, but no further. I managed to expermented with carb, but no success at all in top speed, just some pluses at acceleration, thats all. I think i am disabled limitator (the black/ green wire), and framed it - it is not helping. Any sugestions? And is there need a screw at this side of carb?

    hi there, trying to find a solution to my xj600 headlight. (sorry if this is wrong place but new here) no power to headlight using main switch or passing switch. when i switch on the headlight to sidelight everthing is ok but when on full light the indicators light along with high beam light on dash. check engine earth all good, and also the battery earth via the block connector that goes into the loom. any ideas as to where any other earths are located or any general ideas where to look next? thanks ferg

    Hi Guys Im Working on my yamaha rxs 100, and it has some chips in the paint on the fuel tank, they are only little but im a perfectionist and would like to sort this out does any one know the colour code for the blue paint on it or were i can find the colour code on the bike ??

    Never owned or rode (a manual) bike before. What do I need to do to make sure she is in the best of condition. I'm a vehicle tech by trade so am mechanicaly minded. Need to know the basics really, it's a new bike so servicing will be done at dealer for warranty purposes for now. Anything I can read through to teach me the mechanics behind a bike is good as I have a lot of mechanical sympathy and like to know how things work ;-) Thanks guys

So I'm getting myself another DT soon (31st March - 17th birthday), this time it'll be a road legal one, had my first DT 125 at 13 and have been in love with them ever since. got a £2000 budget, just looking for a decent one, not many around.I'm planning to do a few mods to it, with about a £600 budget. I've been told about Boyesen Power Reeds but strugging to find them for the DT 125 RE in the uk, they'll have to be imported from America. My question is, what difderence will they make to the performance, is there a site where I can get them in the UK without them being imported, and are they easy to fit? Never done bike mechanics before, just basic stuff here and there..…

    Had an intermittent electrical problem for a few weeks now, battery runs flat after 5 to 7 miles or so, but not always. Measured the voltage from the reg/rect to the battery and sometimes get 14volts at 5k rpm, but not always, can be as low as 11 volts Have checked the reg/rect as best I can, appears to be working correctly by not passing current one way with + probe in +lead to all 3 whites = OL, -probe in +lead to all 3 whites = reading -probe in -lead to all 3 whites = OL, +probe in -lead to all 3 whites = reading Field coil resistance reads 3.1 ohms, brushes are new too, coms are both clean and in good shape Resistance between all 3 whites (w1 to w2/w1…
