just fitted the original mag on the Gilera, but he spark is very weak. I'm thinking that the mag has lost most of its magnetism (they lose it when knocked, not bridge capped or just age) does anyone know if someone has a growler or offers this type of service in the uk?

Hey there, I jst picked up an old DT175 in pretty good condition. It was running until i cleaned up the carb, although barely. Anyway, I pulled offthe flywheel cover to clean the points and there was fuel inside - What does that mean? It was not fireing the spark plug, but it had enough juice to power the light meter when kicked prior to pulling the cover. Anyhelp would be a great. I don't have a lot of tech knowledge but thought this might be an easy project as it was running. Maybe some bad seals. Thanks.

Hi all. This is only my second post I have introduced myself so dont shoot me!!! Im only 3 months old in biking terms and did a rather silly thing with my 2013 diversion xj6. Whilst pushing it into a bike park area at work I didnt realise that I had connected with a pole that was slowly bending the wing mirror back. So much so that it snapped off including the arm! Im just wondering if it is an easy enough job to buy a new one and fit it myself. Im quite handy. Is this advisable and if so where is a reputable source for a replacement? Cheers all!

Hi all, I bought a 1979 DT 175 back in the summer, was told it had had a rebore and new piston, first ride and piston holed ! Damn. Anyway, took it apart, and replaced the piston and rings with new, back together and nothing, well not quite. When I first tried to start it it fired and ran for about 10 secs, since then zilch ? All it does is the occasional backfire ? There is fuel in the bowl. The piston is in the right way. The carb has been cleaned both manually with a guitar string pushed through all the holes then ultrasonically. I did a compression test the result being 100 psi cold which I don't think is too bad considering the rings are new and haven't had the …

Surprise surprise my bike has gone from needing a simple repair and gear shaft to £700 min of work. The starter motor has collapsed. It was in a poor state so can't question it. New ones are £300 but I've seen a used one on eBay for £50. Will I be ok using a second hand one? It needs a new battery because it was stood for 5 months. The battery was brand new a few months ago, surely it will charge or is this correct? Thanks

My chain broke this morning, a bit lucky I was only doing about 30 mph and chain wrapped around front sprocket. Anyway removed the demolished chain but found a nylon block inside the front sprocket cover. I am assuming it is probably a chain guide but where does it go or fit in the cover , it was just laying loose when I took it off and cant find anything in the workshop manual that helps.

I am on my 3rd headlight bulb in the space of 6 weeks the last one lasted 3 days of use I have had the bike for a little over18 months with no problem with them until recently, the only thing that has changed is I am now doing 80 miles most days for work. The bike is unfortunately kept outside and was wondering if it could be a water problem. Any one else had this problem or any ideas

Hi Chaps i've just got my '89 DT 125 R, it was running fine but all of a sudden when riding it for the first time it totally cut out. It did not have any power at all then twisting the throttle. I stopped at the side of the road and it stalled, I kick started and it started first time, then ran fine again. I thought something could be blocked so i have cleaned the carb and the jet. I took it out for another ride and for a while it was fine totally back to normal. After about 30 minutes of riding it totally lost power at 7000 RPM, it sounds all spluttery through all gears and as it approaches the power band 7K it is awful! Now it seems to struggle to get to 40m…

Hey All. I picked up a new top box for my 125 Dragstar and noticed that it had break & indicator lights. The lights on my bike currently are just old fashioned bulbs. Is there anything in particular I need to do to wire these up? I'm not the best at techy stuff I admit. Cheers.

Hi everyone. A quick question I hope. But I have a Yamaha XJ600 pre-diversion and i was looking for a top box but I wasn't sure if I needed to buy a rack before I bought a top box. Or do are there any top boxes which I can buy which will fit right on with adaptors included. I'm sorry if this seems a twattish question but I thought I'd ask the more experienced of you out there.
