  4. Hello Again Guys I'm looking for some advice: I want to put a Leo Vince underbody Evo II exhaust on my XJ6. The one thing that worries me is this exhaust has no CAT so I'm concerned it will fail it's MOT. Obviously I don't want the aggravation of removing exhaust every time MOT is due. Has anyone out there in the UK got one of these exhaust on their bike and have you had any issues when taking bike for MOT or has it passed with no problems. Any advice would be very helpful.

Hey guys, long-time-lurker first-time-poster here! So, I've been working on my xs250 over the past week and now i cant get the engine to start up... It wont fire up, just whirs when i push the start button and I've had no luck with the kickstart either. Basically, to sum up what i've done to it since it was last working: it had broken down on me while i was out on a ride (the vacuum tube kept popping off the tob of the carb inlet and the engine was heating up like crazy, but after much kickstarting i managed to get the thing home with the petcock set to prime) so i decided to check out what was going on down there. I popped out the carbs and checked them over, che…

Can you replace an endless chain with a chain with a removable link? Why do some bikes have a removable link and some bikes have an endless chain which is a pain in the arse to remove?

Hi guys, So, I was riding along today when all lights (dash too) just stopped working, I thought it was the fuse, changed it no good, so started checking the wiring, I've got power into and out of the ignition but was struggling to trace the wires from there. I'm really stuck tbh, any help would be much appreciated

I recently purchased a set of used forks for my bike from ebay one of the lower fork legs are damaged so I decided to swop it over with a spare one i've lying around for years, which looks in good condition my question is about the metal slider ring which is located just below the seal will I need to replace this as its been left bare for many years as I think its supposed to have some sort of special grease on it. It looks in good nick, can I just re-grease it, or if not how do i remove it without damaging the fork leg? thanks for any replies in advance

Hi All I have a stuck flywheel on my 175..I have tried tradional tactics to no avail. Ive use a puller ,lubrication and a propane torch..She isnt budging.Im removeing due to extensive rust inside flywheel are ..I thoudht this may have an impact on perfomance. When I got bike it would start intermitantly and attemp to rev up then just cut out but generally start again with same scenario.I rebuilt carb with no diffrence in performance. If anyone has a solution for flywheel as well as any opinions at all.I would surely appreciate it. Thanks

This slide stuck badly after 20yrs doing nothing. Any suggestions getting it out. Already soaked it in WD40 but fuel has formed a sticky sludge around it. What about chopping off the cable and soaking it in boiling water?

  13. hi all to start off with my bike is the xt version but uses the same engine in the ybr and ttr the problem with the engine is that it eats oil (a lot) iv put two bottles worth in over the last 5 weeks there are no oil leaks what so ever from the engine but black soot accumulating from the exhaust but no horrible obvious smoke coming from the exhaust just wondering if this is common with this engine or is mine starting to tell me signs that something is wrong the engine has done about 20,000 miles since iv had it don't know the exact mileage due to dash going (common on xt) many thanks for reading martin

Hope you won't mind me making my intro via a fiendishly complex problem Recently had some issues with the bike(1980 xt250) intermittently cutting out Traced to a snagged wire or two in the stator Now I have rewired but the prev owner wired the bike in green throughout making plugging the stator back up quite a challenge Six cables out of the stator My method thus far is to plug 1 to 1 (1through6) Then 1-2 (1through6) I Pull the plug and check for spark when I get one I sling in the plug and tentatively give it a kick I have found a few configs so far that seem to work ok, one which gives me spark One which starts easy but runs a bit flat Another that gives …

My 2004 V-star makes a very high pitch whining noise when moving, the noise usually goes after 30/40 mph at higher rpm, but pulling off ans slower cruising speed makes a horrible whine. I know shaft drives aren't always quiet but this noise is noticeable over the exhaust sounds... surely that isn't normal? the noise isn't there when the engine is running idle in neutral, it is only when a gear is engaged and the bike is moving. The garage has said nothing is wrong with it, but I know several owners of the same model bike and year whose bikes don't make HALF as much of a noise! I have changed the engine oil, final drive oil and had the splines lubed.. but nothing has worke…

Ok I give up..where are the XT experts out there? Looked up and down the manual but can`t find something relating to carb airscrew adjuster. Have to ask where is this adjusting screw. Idling ok but the bike is missing like crazy soon as revs pick up. I still plan to give it a good service but thought would check air adjustment so long. I`ve noticed a large screw under the throttle body of the carb on left side..is this it..and what is the spec?

Hi there people . Does any body know if the fuel tank from the air cooled RD will fit the LC ? My tank is made of rust , weld and fibreglass , leaks like a sieve , and is finished in a fetching shade of JCB yellow . I reckon it's beyond economical repair and second hands are hard to find . If anyone has any ideas , nice one ,

Hi guys looking for some advice or ideas to move forward with my project. I have a 1977 DT125 with electric start using the starter/generator setup (model type 1G0) and having tested the armature, rotor, brushes and battery, cannot get the bike to turn over on the button or charge the battery whilst the engine is running via the kickstart. Getting hold of replacement parts is proving difficult and so I was wondering if anything else could be fitted to charge the battery from the running engine. I am not really bothered about the electric start side of things but as the bike needs a battery to run, I do need to find either a replacement or alternative. Any help or advice…

Hi. Any of you guys fitted an sc projects exhaust to an xj6? I've bought a second hand one and trying to work out correct fitting. Basically the header pipes are numbered 1/4 and I'm trying to work out if it's left to right as if your looking from the front or rear of the bike towards the exhaust. Guy I purshased it of can't help and I've been in touch with sc projects but the language barrier is tricky to get my question across. I've fitted it left to right as if your looking at header pipes from rear of bike but it's niggling me whether this us right it not?! Any clues guys? )
