Hello, I've got a bike that starts, idles fine but 3/4 throttle backfires pretty bad. Messed with the timing no change. Put a timing light on it and seems like the mark on the magneto is about 2" early on the pulsar pick up. So, maybe the cdi? Someone cut out a lot of the wiring to make it more of a dirt bike. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone. This is my first post here as I am new so please forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I was wondering if there is any way of tightening my front break? I just don't feel it is that sharp any more. I don't know if it is a case of it being time for new pads or not? The bike has only done 4100 miles and I have no idea of how long the pads should last. Any advice on the longevity of the pads or if I can tighten it up a bit will be most appreciated.

Hi all sorry about yet another post. I have a 1991 dtr 125 and just put a 1998 engine in it as mines went pop Anyway I got it all up and running but after letting it wear in blah blah blah I thought I would cane it just to check it was all running as it should however after 8500 rpm the bike acts as if it's starved from fuel or something it keeps slowing down then picking up speed again but won't go any faster so I thought this could be the reeds so I changed them to boysen carbon reeds as the ones I took out were very worn now after putting the carbon reeds in it hasn't made any difference apart from throttle responce so I'm wondering if it could be an electronic prob…

Hey folks, After a little info really. Im picking up the xj600 on saturday and am just waiting on the haynes manual for it ready to get stuck in. But my mate at work has a 1984 pre diversion XJ900 which he needs me to change the barrels on it due to him snapping part of the exhaust out let when he was taking the nut off the exhaust stud. Now my question is this. Is the basic things like getting the pistons ti TDC on the 900 the same as the 600 and the same with setting the timing on the cams? Reason i ask is that he has no manual and im not forking out for one nor is he as he only has £150 spare for me to get it done. O and he wants it done by next Friday. Th…

Can anyone shed some light on whether calipers and master cylinders are interchangeable, I have a 1984 Yamaha XJ750 (import) frame number 41Y, I got this over 2 years ago having last been MOT'd or on the road in 2005. It's not in bad order runs etc However Brakes were drained, god knows for how long ago and all Callipers and Cylinders are seized, I had been told that this particular model was basically a XJ900 with a 750 lump, so started with the rear brake, got a calliper off a 900 which is identical to the one I removed but the mounting bolts off mine are to big, which isn't to much bother as I'll just get smaller bolts, but the rear master cylinder is u/s so need to c…

Hello, This is my first post so please watch out for the newbie mistakes Basically i am in the middle of a project and have hit a bit of a stop, As i am fitting a new style engine to an old wiring loom i need some in into wiring them together (Reason being i have gone away with starter motor and in the case to make it all seem right i am going away with the wiring in which goes with it), All the bolts were snapped in the starter motor housing so i decided rather than to strip the engine to drill and tap i would fit a kick start. and also go away with the starter motor switch. also i much prefer the old style clocks with rev counter. Basically ive got the new styl…

  16. With a battery less than a year old gone under 12V and needing replacement, I suspected the charging circuit might not be working so tested the RR and sure enough I'm getting readings between 680 and 705 Volts which means new RR. Should I go for OEM or try and find a bargain alternative? The cable length might be an issue with the non-OEM one, as it needs to reach underneath the tank where the connector is.

Haven't posted on here for a while due to college and exams etc however a few months ago I was involved in a bit of a crash and now the bike clunks into first gear (once it's warm it doesn't clunk) however at junctions I constantly have to rev it or it will kinda chug then cut out, also when stationary or moving slowly to a halt it's hard to get it into first/ neutral/ second gear, I know there's already been a post similar to this however I think it might be due to the crash, im not entirely sure, any ideas? And it's a little sr125 Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Hello All. I need to replace the fork seals on my very nearly finished dt250 so I watched a few videos on YouTube and thought 'piece of cake'. Oh dear, bad mistake. I'm having a mare getting them out. The videos show the guy sliding the inner piece like a slide hammer and they just pop out. My bike doesn't seem to have the same end and the innards just slid out leaving the seals in place! Can anyone recommend a method of removing them? Preferably with no expensive tools. I tried prying them out with a screwdriver which just bent and then tried the same with heating up the fork and still no movement. Any help will be greatly received and thanks in advance....
