Hi All Have a 1984 Yamaha DT 125 which I am trying to repair. I have been testing coil via this procedure. DMM to ohm range. Primary side. Probe on negative and other probe on positive. Gets a ohm reading of 1.3 ohms. Gets a literal continuity sound. Secondary side. Probe on negative and other probe on end of plug wire. Gets a ohm reading of 3710 ohms or 3.71 kilo-ohms. Continuity no sound but 887 reading from DMM Do anybody perhaps know the correct resistance/ohm values Am I doing correct testing method. Please help Thank you Gasant

Been having a bit of bother with the YZF lately. Bike starts fine, idles fine & runs fine up to 4-5000 rpm. Beyond that point it feels flat & struggles to rev out. Rev counter needle jumps to 9000 rpm, drops to 3000 rpm & then to zero. Sticking EXUP valve? Fuelling issue? Any ideas?...I know the rev counter movements are a sort of diagnostic code but what does this particular movement signify? Any help appreciated.

Hey folks first question and the search function doesn't seem to throw up much on the mobile. I'm planning on putting some 16'' or 18'' apes on my dragstar and know I'm going to need to extend the throttle and clutch cables. However I'm wondering what else will need extending and what wires will be needed so some advice on what is needed and where to get would be really appreciated. Bike is still at the garage as the 3rd party are dragging their knuckles giving the repair job a green light.

  5. Hello, Thank you for taking the time to read my post. As the title says, after I have been out for a ride I'm having to wipe oil off the back of the numberplate and my rear tyre. The bike was unused for 9 months before I had it but I've ridden it for a month now ( nearly 1000 miles ) and its still spitting. The exhaust looks original so I'm thinking it could be carbon deposits ( I'm getting a new exhaust to eliminate that ) and I've changed the gearbox oil which doesn't appear to be going down at all. Only thing I can think of is possibly worn seals but I'm still learning and do not know exactly which seals it could be. Anyone had this problem? Cheers …

I've been testing my xtz660's electrics to try and solve a spark issue i'm having, got as far as the diode and before i could test it I stepped on it and broke it.... oops. now I've not been able to find any information as to what diode I need to buy to replace it. the old diode had s3v03 written on it but I know next to nothing about diodes and what this signifies, just how to test the little buggers. Maplins have plenty of diodes but nothing that I can see matching this code. The service manual has no information I can find on what size/voltage/rating etc I need and I don't want to put an overpowered or underpowered diode in place. Any help from anyone would b…

Thanks for your time Dan

  9. Hi All Great site, lots of good reading, and helpful members! I have a 1990 YFM 2050 Moto 4 Quad with a new somewhat annoying backfire issue. Right off of idle, somewhere in the 900-1000 RPM range it seems to backfire through the carb into the air box. This continues until it hits around 2000 RPM then it seems to subside, but still runs rough. I've been playing around with different things, (see the list below). I went out to a local dealer showed them the same list and they said "Jeeze, your doing the right tests, and based on # 8 we really can't put a finger on your problem, but try the other things you have outlined and let us know what the result is". …

I recently bought a small top box for my little sr .. It's not to carry any great loads it's just to carry paper work to college or carry a spare change of clothes for work .. It's ideal for what I want however I'm a little stuck on attaching it to my bike, my bike doesn't really have any trims to attach it on so I'm gonna have to modify the attachment point ... I'm gonna add some photos and any tips or ideas would be great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both sets of Mikuni CV carbs on both TDMs leak - hook up start the engine & fuel starts to drip out of the overflow withing a minute or two, have changed float valves with 0% sucess in solving the problem both floats move freely & carbs have been cleaned have crudely adjusted float heights again with 0% sucess what ever is done seems to make no difference at all - now it's a pain in the ar*e connecting then disconnecting every time so here's the question and don't shoot me down if it's idiotic, carbs are a feckin mystery to me can I measure the float height with the carbs off the bike ? Now I've tried the tilt and measure method and just can't s…

Hi guys thanks for opening my thread Im in need of a bit of advice, ive had my bike for a few months now but have never noticed the exhaust bolts being loose till today. The right one tightened down fine but the left one was stripped so just kept turning, the bolt is also slightly longet than the right one. I just wanted to know what you guys recommend, i was gonna try tapping it out to the next size and finding a bolt to fit. But reading some threads online people have mentioned having studs instead of bolts so im not sure which is right, mines a 2007 model. Anyway guys i appreciate any advice and thanks for reading, if nobody advises otherwise then ill go ahead wit…

  17. Hi all, My bike is being annoying Normally it starts fine but the other day it randomly developed problems. Sometimes I turn the ignition and I can't hear the fuel pump priming and no orange light comes on although other days it starts fine. I've just replaced the fuel pump to try and fix it although it hasn't made any difference. I rode it home and then tried to start it once I got back and it was the same problem. I've read of some people saying its the temperature but it really hasn't been that hot or cold recently. I was wandering if it could be the tilt sensor stuck or something? Or temp sensor? idk any help or experiences would be much appreciated! T…

Hello, I not to long ago got my first bike a TZR50 04 I'm still waiting for my licences documents to come before I get on the road so I have taken this time to just work on the bike, it was second hand bought so it needed a little tlc but my question is, is it possble to install a fuel gauge onto the bike, I have orderd a new universal speedo for the bike and it comes with a fuel guage on the speedo but not with a sender unit or anything. Would it be possible to buy something like this and install it into my bike, or do I need to find a part specially made for my bike model. I saw one on eBay and it drove me to ask this question as it would be nice feature to hav…
