Ive noticed my RD350 when stood few days when I start it only runs on one cylinder briefly..then the other cyl starts backfiring and eventually runs. I have previously had a problem with the bike cutting out on uphill run until I cleaned the fuel cap of a lot of crap..then it was ok. I still suspect fuel cap as it closes very tight..this afterrelining the tank. So tried today after she stood awhile to start it with the cap off. Started better on both cylinders. So I suspect the cap too tight causing suction/breather problems into carbs (funny enough the first carb under the tank is the problem child). The cap also makes a significant gas release noise after a ride. Can it…

Hi , please help!! My son has an 04 DTR 125 and has some problems with an intermittent spark. Things renewed, new spark plug, new cap. The side stand has been disconnected, earth & live terminal On the HT coil pack Cleaned up. Bike started and after 30 mins cut out and would not start due to I think no spark. Does anyone know how to check if there is a live feed from CDI unit to HT coil ( orange wire ) one final thing! Is there anything else I need to check. Thanks in advance for any help / posts. Mark

Always wondered after I was told one should always idle a 2stroke carb dry to prevent gunging up the float valve and jets, unless its used often. If fuel is left in there surely it keeps everything lubricated, but once dry that is when float valves etc. start becoming stuck? Same question for 4strokes. Would like to hear opinions on this.

Hoping someone can help me with this even though I'm now without a Yam since selling my XJ600N. I'm sorting a mate's XJ900F since he got it back months after it should have been finished by someone who let him down. I've now done most of the rewiring but I am stuck on the wiring from the ignition pick ups to the CDI (ignition control module). I have a Haynes manual to help but I cannot find the wiring configuration for the aforementioned. What I need to know is which wires go where into the CDI as the wiring has been cut and the multi plug block has been discarded. There is grey, orange and black wires from the pickup which should enter the CDI via a 4 terminal mul…

This year at Squires it was a bit wet to say the least and after my bike running pretty well all day, I got back to camp Packed up my gear (20 mins max) said my goodbyes and was off home well that's what I thought! I didn't even get half a mile & she packed in. at first I thought I'd run out of fuel so I rang Drewpy for help within a few minutes Blackhat & Drew arrived to rescue me but it turned out to be water in the ecu & connections. we managed to get it going again & I headed home only to find my top speed was around 30 mph and over hills was a lot less than that it took me over 3 hours to get to Manchester after doing a Kev (getting lost) when she fi…

hi everyone! I bought a 1974 (I think) gt80 a while ago and I'm restoring her, when I first got it I took it for a spin of course, however the gears are a huge question mark to me... if I hold the clutch in and push the shifter down and hold it down it sometimes goes to first gear... and sometimes it doesn't do anything! I struggle to even find a gear on it to shift into. and when I do it's usually 2nd or 3rd I'm assuming since the engine wants to bogg out. I split the cases and everything looks good, but the shifter arm that pulls/pushes the piece on the synchronizer either catches one gear or it won't go back into neutral ect. anybody know what the problem is?! so confu…

hi all, here with yet another problem I am now on my third engine with this bike :/ as the first one went bang as the big end bearing went then second time with the oil pump packing up unfortunately anyway im having a problem starting the bike even when its warm, everything is spot on ive checked it all over, however it just dosent like to start, i have a feeling that its something to do with the coil, reasons being as its still the original from 1991, so i think it may be breaking down, also i was wondering if any one knows the colour the spark is meant to be, as i have a feeling its not very strong, the spark is coming out as a pinky colour and dosent sound very …

my yamaha gt80 still won't shift, bought a new synchronizer, and sometimes it shifts but sometimes it doesn't... losing my patience with this thing! it must be a common problem with these because I have 2 and neither of them shift properly. anybody have any suggestions? maybe the arm that pushes/pulls the drum? maybe I just take this thing to the scrap yard? :'( also does anyone know if I could possibly get away with dropping a 100 DX engine in it?

I have just bought a 2005 Jog R. It had a slight problem with it revving and sometimes starting. Ive noticed an inline fuel filter but I think this is in the return line back to the tank, is this normal. Plus, it isn't full of fuel, it only had a small amount in the bottom. Also, what does the fuel tap do? As I can't see any way to turn it on or off!! When I get the bike started and rev it, it sounds like it is being starved of fuel.

dear all: i am mounting a 165 ccm big bore kit on a yamaha ybr125, made 2012. question: do i have to modify the injection system, so that it delivers more gasoline in the bigger cylinder? or are there sensors, that do that automatically?

Hey guys, noticed after a ride yesterday that my top radiator hose was hissing and bubbling at the clamp, and also where the coolant line goes to the head ( not the water pump) it seems to be weeping from there. Enough to drop half a radiator worth over night. Unless its also leaking when I ride. Any ideas what it could be? Ps. Oil is not milky

Ok so ive gone through alot of hell getting this to run right First of all it died on me while i was out and about, As soon as i got to the high rpm it just spluttered and popped to a stop. It turns out it was running lean ? Hadnt caused any engine damage but I did a full rebuild on the motor (Had 19000 miles on clock). I had the barrel over sized and new piston, 2 new main bearings 2 seals. The reason i did this because i suspected the crank seal was gone so i just went all out and did the lot. The left hand crank seal was showing no signs of a exterior leak but it was badly perished wohoo the bike ran again but it wouldnt idle unless the idle screw was ful…

Yes, it was totally my fault, I was idiotic and never bothered to check the service manual for torque settings... I changed the gasket on the stator cover (left side of the engine) because there was an oil leak. As I'm tightening the last bolt, snap! The only replacements I can find are part of full engine bolt sets for about £65 and I don't want to replace every bolt in the engine just because I was stupid and broke 1... Does the replacement have to be identical, or will any steel M6 50mm work? It's a 2006 YBR125 Thanks
