Hi, Michael here i am still new to bikes and have recently when through changing my brake pads, however before attempting the front as i loosened it a split in the caliper appeared and it has lost all its compression. i have ordered some quicksteel to attempt patching it in the mean time however, the main reason for the post is this: What can the caliper be replaced with if not the original dt125r ones as it currently has a dt125x caliper on it. (was like this when i brought the bike) The main thing im concerned about is what will fit. =)

Hi Ive recently bought a very low mileage 1989 rxs100 and have only ridden it less than 1/2 a mile but it seemed a bit sluggish. I've found the airbox has been butchered to fit a cone filter and holes drilled all over it. ( looking for a complete 1 if anyone has ) The carb however hasn't been jetted to suit as its still running a standard 120 main. The main issue I've got is I've dropped the gearbox oil and its full of fuel!. I take it the reason will be the right hand crank seal ? I've stripped this out and a new 1 is on its way. I've stripped the left hand casings off and theres no sign of fuel behind the flywheel. Can I take it this side seal is ok. I'm thinking of …

  3. Hi After a lot of tinkering, I realized that my DT175 it came with a carb from a DT100 I am not sure what the effect would be on my bike since I have not been able to ride it properly yet. I am looking for a DT175 carb but all I find on ebay is 1976 and newer. Is it possible to use a 1976 carb on my 1975 bike? According to the VIN number I have a DT175B Thank you for the help Alex

  4. Hi there I've had my 1994 import sr250 for about 2 weeks and changed the oil last night. When I was riding her home twice she lost power and felt like she was coasting! Is this anything to do with oil change? Thanks guys :-)

  5. Hi, my 2008 xt 125 engine recently blew up. I bought a 2006 engine with low mileage to replace it. I didn't realise that the air/fuel pump outlets differ on the 2 models what suggestions/advice does anybody have to make the air pump 'connected'. I have looked at pictures of the 2006 engine as it should be, and it appears the air pipe that connects to the cylinder head on the 2008 model is left unconnected on the 2006 model as the cylinder head has no fixing for it. Cheers Mike

Original post: xt125r bogging running rich. Update on the fault. It turns out that the set up was not overfueling but quite the opposite. A fuel starvation scenario sent me down a different thought route. The carb was ripped out again and the main jet and emulsifier tube removed. The emulsifier tube housing/channel revealed a small hole, linked to the the air intake duct and on closer inspection with a strong lamp, was not letting light through. More dirt was suspected, so the orifice was subject to a squirt with carb cleaner and a small strand of strong wire. Light was eventually detected thus some crud removed. The carb was reassembled and reinstalled and he…

Hi, Spent two days on this so far and running out of ideas. Bike starts and seems to run OK until it starts to warm up. After this period the only way I can get it to rev up is by feathering the throttle, a faster throttle opening leads to bogging, a horrible response in terms of sound. The engine will also die if throttle is opened quickly. Checks so far include: Air filter, carb clean (several times), changed oil and flushed (x4) due to traces of water. Generator coils and spark circuit checked. Even had the head off to check timing, valves, tappets etc. This bike (2008 - 3k miles), seems to be over fuelling. When I take the carb off, there is petrol all over the i…

I recently bought my first motorbike a Yamaha XT125 R 2006 plate. Now ever since I have had this bike it has been dripping fuel from the carb breather pipe. Not a massive amount about 1/4 inch over two days in a normal 1 litre drinks bottle. Now the bike shop we spoke to said it needed a complete carb clean and possibley a new fuel vacuum tap. So I took it in and that is what they did. Well after a 24hr period it started dripping again. I spoke to the shop again and they said take it back and they would restrip it. Which they did and for a few hours it didn't leak so Iwent and filled up and within 24hrs its dripping from the carb breather pipe again. The bike shop seems s…

The manual indicates timing should be checked after an engine overhaul. How likely is it for timing to be out after a top and bottom end overhaul?

i have got a 1999 xj600N and as i was cleaning it yesterday i noticed that the two cylindrical bits on the lower end of the oil inlet and output pipes are starting to look a bit worse for wear ( i have looked in my haynes and cant find out what these bits are called but if you run from the oil cooler via the pipes downwards you reach two joiners on each pipe and these are starting to rot out)i have been to my local yam dealer and im gunna have to fork out 95 quid for each ,presumably it will include the inlet/outlet pipe as well. has anyone any idea where i can get them cheaper or can i either blank it off or replace with hydrolic fittings of some sort? Ideas please. X X

Hello everyone, I have had a 1979 dt 175 for about 10 years now and I love it. It lost compression last year and finally had the guts to remove the cylinder and piston. I thought I was going to find a disaster, but the cylinder and piston are not scratched or damaged at all. The both have never been removed and the rings look shot. I do not have a proper caliper to measure the bore but it has never been modified. It clearly needs new rings but I am not sure which direction to take. I want to have a professional do the machining, but should I move up to a larger piston and have the cylinder bored or should I just have it honed and install slightly larger rings? Is ther…

Hey, new here so sorry if this has come up before (search didn't reveal anything) I'm having some troubles with my YBR 125, when I go to shift from 1st into 2nd the gearbox just gets stuck in Neutral! Very annoying and embarrassing when trying to pull away from a junction etc, and dangerous! I've put the bike on the c/stand and ran through the gears fine, and I have adjusted the gear shifter down both to no avail. I have also just changed the oil which has not helped. It only seems to do this when I am sat on the bike (I can sit there and hold the clutch in and it'll jam at N) Anybody got any ideas here as to what it could be? I've read a few places saying to …

  16. Hi folks, not been on for quite sometime but now I need to bend your ears. Following another successful mot my Draggy is having issues with the sliding switch that controls the headlamp and rear light. The bulb is new and connections are clean and tight, the sliding switch however can be quite tough to slide across. The outcome of this is i have to spend some time finding the balance so the headlamp is on as well as the rear light. As i slide the switch across it seems to swap between having one or the other on until i find the "sweet spot" where they are both on, it will stay like this until I turn it off again. Question is, would i have to replace the whole hand…

Hi, Ok so I replaced the clutch plates in my DT 125R, put it all back together new gasket, oil, new coolant and also a new clutch cable as the old one was frayed. The bike fires up fine ticks over perfect. The clutch mechanism on the engine side lines up with the marking on the casing. The problem is when I put it in gear and let the clutch out it doesn't move just continues to idle and I can do this for every gear and also if the bike is off and I put it in gear there is a tiny bit of resistance but I can push it back and fourth? Thanks in advance for any help.

No fuel getting thru here. When open its not pouring out..only few drops coming out if I shake the tank vigorously. Wondering about removing this filter on here as you can see its damaged(intend to fit inline filters). All my other bikes these in-tank filters have fallen off so I always do inline filters. There`s about 2 litres in the tank..so should I need more fuel in there? I have stripped the petcock and blown out everything with compressed air. The tank has been lined. Surely with 2 litres in, fuel should pour out when on reserve as with my other bikes.
