I have recently changed bikes from an 03-R6 to an 07-R1, I love the new bike and I am getting more confident on it with every ride, However I feel it tips or is too sharp into the corners, I have let some mates try it out and they also can see my point. On the R6 I fitted an Arrow steering damper which proved to be a great asset as it felt solid and smooth, I know the two bikes will ride diffrent and I have taken this into account. What I am asking is has anyone else felt this way and what did they do to sort it ? Is the OE steering damper adjustable ? as there is a screw thing on the side but Im not messing with it until I know what it is, Or maybe the supension needs se…

After an accident needing a new wheel & forks my speedo has started to play about, staionary it reads about 20mph and when riding over 30mph it gives a rough idea of the speed I am doing but takes an age to go back down if i decelerate. But the odometer is still clocking up the correct milage on a route I know the distance of. Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

I have A 1986 fj-1200 I believe the timing is off but my question is would the timing being off cause my bike to run ok for about 20 minutes then die and after sitting for about an hour it will start back up and run for another 20 minutes? Or would this possibly be a completey different problem?

I want to know what oil filter is used by my bike. I would just check the bike but its in storage for the winter. Its a 08 R6S. Its pretty much the same platform and body style as the 03-05 R6. I have looked through the manual and found only the type of oil but nothing on the type or part# of the filter. I want to try and find a bulk sale of filters but need to know the size/code. thanks

I've bought a brand new 2007 WR250F last weekend - running it in gently around the lanes and it's developed very bad clutch drag after about 20 miles. Took it back to the dealer who changed the oil and said it would be fine. However after another gentle 23 miles we're back with very bad clutch drag, i.e can't find neutral with the engine running, also bike creeps when in gear and clutch engaged. Supposed to be racing it on Sunday, any ideas, anyone? I'm desperate! Obviously it'll have to go back to the dealer again (another 3 hour round trip) but he doesn't seem to have a clue!

Morning all Just back from a morning run and the bike started to make a strange mechanical noise in 1st and 2nd gear. Most apparent when I was pulling away from lights etc ie going up the box, didnt make the noise when I was going back down the box. I've let her settle for a wee bit and checked the oil but theres nothing amiss there. Chain and sprockets could probably do with getting replaced, but they arent bad, not sure if that would be the cause of the noise. Noise was a very metalic rattling/clanging sound, crapped meself cause I thought it sounded like the centre stand had come down and was banging along the road. Any ideas, advice, things to check?…

Hi there was wondering if anyone could advise i have just got my self a DT 125 LC 3 the 1986 model. i have had a lot of trouble keeping it running and have nothing left to try apart from the CDI unit, i have got hold of another CDI but it is a different size. the original has 2 plugs and 3 singles and yet the one i have picked up only has 1 plug and 3 singles (green plug missing) yet i was told the Unit was from the same model of bike. would it be safe to try it and would not having the green plug have any impact. i havnt traced it so i dont know wot it dose. would be grateful for advice if anyone can help.

My 1998 FZS600 has developed a painfully annoying vibration that leaves my fingers and feet tingling like mad after 20 miles. This occurs whether the bike is being ridden or stationary and from 1000 to 10000 rpm. The bike tics over ok and pulls all the way to "let me off". I've checked the valve clearances, balanced the carbs and even changed the engine, keeping the original carbs. Although the carbs were balanced is there anything that could be wrong with them that could cause this problem. the engine mountings seem fine. Help, its driving me mad and giving me vibration white finger!!!!

I have a 1980 Enduro DT100. Recently, the old sealed beam headlamp burnt out so I replaced it with another 6V 5 3/4 inch bulb. They were the exact same type so I figured to have no problems. After 3 days of driving it (only in the daytime), I noticed that both the high and low beams were burnt out. I didn't notice this earlier because I hadn't driven at night. The output from the battery and headlamp plug while running is about 18 volts.......any clue why? When the engine is off, the old battery reads 3V. Is there any chance a spike caused this burn out of both high and low beams? What should I do before I put in another new sealed beam? Help, please!

Hi all, I’m new to the site and a proud owner of number of Yamaha’s. And wonder if you can help me, I have had a link to a Yamaha (official? Not sure) site that had all the parts numbers for all the models. It was a US site. Could someone please send me the link to site. Or any site that has Yamaha part numbers for Yamaha SRX 4. Thank you in advance. Athula http://on-twowheels.blogspot.com/

  15. Howdy from New Zealand A mate of mine has a 2006 TTR250 which he purchased new in September 2006. Every since he has had the bike, it has had problems. It was "surging" at "tootling" speed at about quarter throttle. Eventually the shop concluded there was a carb problem - over the past 8 months they have replaced the main jet, drilled out the pilot jet, replaced the pilot jet etc, and it's still no better. My mate has an older model TTR250 with exactly the same carb, so put the old carb on the new bike and it went absolutely fine. Yamaha's pathetic excuse for this problem is that the bikes now have to be tuned to meet stricter emission control…

Hi Got a daft question that i should no the answer to, but slight doubt better to ask. Ok then, putting a XJ600 (pre divi) back together and have just started repairing and fitting the loom, got to the battery and just not sure where the black cable from the top of the starter connects to (i think - terminal on battery). Also the earth strap from rear of engine, it has a smaller black wire coming from it ( i think - terminal on battery and the smaller one to the frame). Would i be right or have i got all confused, any help welcome. Thanks Dave C

My DT400 does not now spark. It had been running, and just stopped. Do you know where I can get a wiring diagram? I think it is a CDI job. I want to try and elliminate each part in turn, starting from the timing sensor in the flywheel. Does anyone have any idea how the sensor works, and how to check it? My fear is that the CDI has died. Can it be tested, or can they be source easily? Thanks
