Hey new here and looking ofr your technical expertise, I just bough a 1999 R6 over the weekend, seems to run and ride fine, just that when I park it up & leave it it slowly leaks some oil or fuel onto the ground, not a great deal but it seems to be a constant leak. It seems to collect in the bottom of the fairing as there is a puddle in there, then finds it way onto the ground. Now is this normall, I know my CBR6 used to have a pipe for excess fluids and drip onto my chain, maybe it's just leaking wrong? or maybe the bike needs a looking at? Anyhow if anyone has any ideas it would be much appriciated.. Cheers Sam..

Hi, I was wondering. I recently purchased a Yamaha XVS 400 Dragstar. But the previous owner couldn't hand me a workshop manual accompagnying the bike. Which kinda sucks. Luckily there's such a thing called ebay, but I only founf workshop manuals for 650's. So my question is, Can i use a workshop manual for a 650? I plan on doing minor repairs yet regularly doing a full maintenance of the bike. If not, does anyone have a spare copy? Thanks!

Hi all, I've just discovered this site today while moping about on the web looking for a solution to my electrical problem on my recently resurrected TX500. I hope that some one on the forum will be able to give advice on what the problem is. The story so far: I bought the bike of ebay in a pile of boxes and over the past 18 months I have happily been working away at it. All of the parts have been reconditioned or renewed and the engine has been rebuilt and was running as sweet as it should but one day it started to misfire and ground to a halt. The situation now is, the bike wont go but if I take the plugs out and given a quick rub with a wire brush they s…

well, i seem to have lost my keys to my recently purchased 1990 TZR 125. I was wondering if, to a complete mechanical virgin like myself, is it difficult to change the ignition barrel and the one in the seat and petrol tank too? I am devistated as i was so proud that it lasted on my 700 mile adventure up and down the country (which is pretty much all the riding i have done on it so far), and now i cant even ride it.

Hi all just bought my first bike yesterday(Sat) its a 1992 XJ600 in red and is bloody mint anyways I have a few questions which hopefully someone can give me some guidance on 1: The bike seems to take an age to warm up before it will happily sit with the choke in, I tend to give up after 5 mins and just go ride it, by the time I get to traffic lights etc its quite happy to just idle away. Is this just the way they are or is there something I should look into? 2: gearbox is quite tricky to get into neutral, on the move it happily goes up and down the box no probs, no false neutrals, no strange noises or any problems at all. It's just when I go to put i…

I have a Yamaha FZS Fazer 600 1999. I have noticed that when started the exhaust downpipe from number two cylinder never warms up. I assume that the combustion in that cylinder is faulty. I have checked the spark plugs, ignition system, valve clearances, carb sync etc and everything is ok. If you have any advise please let me know.

Hello all, I have a FJ 1200 1989 model.Recently the fuel rserve switch stopped working and I ran out of fuel.Does anyone know how to bypass the switch so that I am running on reerve all the time. The fuel gauge still works OK.I know how many Klms I can do on a a tankfull,so am not worried about having a switchable reserve .I just want to be able to use all the fuel in the tank and need to fix the problem simply.Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks. I have a 2007 Yamaha WR450 which has about 25 hours on it, a few months old. I have to have the choke turned on for it to start and run and Idle...no matter how warm it gets or how long i ride it, if i cut the choke off it will cut off, i have tried drainin the gas out and putting in new gas, i have tried turning the idle screw all the way as far as i could and it still will not help, the only way that it will run is with the choke on. i recently changed the OIL and sparkplug and oil filter, just before this started happening, the oil level is fine and there is no oil leaking from the bike. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Trey

Hi to all. I have a pot load of questions about my recently purchased FZR400 3TJ but will list only a couple. It's a smaller wing-mirror friendly alternative to my recently sold (and sadly missed) '89 VFR750FJ. It's got an Aprillia scooter rear seat unit and race bodywork, uprated rear shocker, has been jetted, has a custom made straight through exhaust and a modified airbox with large freeflo filter. It's a quirky tarmac-hugging little thing that has a surprising turn of speed but, alas is not yet quick enough... What else is do-able to it to increase the acceleration that's within the scope of a reasonably brave home mechanic and doesn't involve taking the engin…
