Have owned a 2004 FZ6 faired since new. Have had a running problem, which I have taken back to the main dealer. He has reported back that there's nothing wrong with the bike. twelve months on the problem is still there. The problem The bike start fine, all power is on the bike when required. But! after about 20 minuets later, running the bike at 4000 rpm, at apprx 48 mph 3-4 gear, the bike starts to miss fire / seems to run on 3 cylinders, the bike will not idol and stalls. Leave the bike standing for the time it takes to drink a cuppa, the bikes ok, only for the next 20 minuets. I was out Wednesday for the weekly meet and I was told the bike was smoking a little when …

Hi all, am new here so apologies if this has been asked before. Have just bought an FZ400R ('85) (not the later FZR400R) off eBay, and am now after a manual for it. Already found that doing a google search on the bike brings up very little, although when I do a search on '46x' (the beginning part of the frame number) it does produce more results. Having said that, I still cant find a workshop manual!! Can anyone help?!! Cheers all. Ed

I recently bought a 96 yzf750. it only has 9k miles on it, and after cleaning the carbs it runs and idles well, but the tach keeps going up to 7k on its own...like a code or something. Anyone know what that means? Also, I have to dump the clutch around 4-5k in order to take off, otherwise it just sputters at like 1.5k rpms and then dies when i stop giving it gas. Im assuming thats the exup acting up? When i first turn on the bike, should i be able to hear or see the exup do anything? thank you for your guys time.

Hello people, I am rebuilding a 1978 XS250, all done bar the engine. My problem is dismantling the engine, I have removed the top end down to the cylinder barrels but the block just will not budge. I based it with a rubber hammer, tried using wedges but no joy. I tried leavering it but just managed to damage a couple of cooling fins. Any ideas? Thanks CLP

Hi all, Need a little advise guys. First day out this year on my XJ600 blowing the cobwebs off. Ran fine, great fun Stopped a couple of times, went to a shop, see a mate. The last time starting it to come home and the starter motor seemed to be just whizzing round not engaged with the engine so I had to bump it (not done that with a bike for 27 years) and rode home fine. The manuals I have suggest in the troubleshooting that its possibly the starter clutch. When I hit the button the tacho rises if thats any help but still does not turn over the engine. Anyone know or had the same probs? I really hope its not the starter clutch as its engine out and split casi…

Can anyone tell me the correct length for the shocks for a 1984 XJ550 ? I've seen shocks advertised for this model but they are the same length as the ones I've got - 335mm. The problem is that with center stand down, both wheels are on the ground and the bike isn't too stable. I had one 23 years ago and I'm sure the rear wheel was a good inch off the ground when on the stand. Thanks Steve

I'm accepting delivery this sunday of an 83 Seca 400 and I'm wanting to get a new set of tires for it and from the specs I can find I see the front is 3.00-18 and the rear is a 130\90-18. Now here's my prob...I can find many 130\90-18 rears on the web with a tread pattern that I like but I'll be darned if I can find a matching front in the 3.00-18 size. Is there a metric equivalent to the 3.00-18 (ie: 80\90-18) I could use on the front ? Suggestions on a set of tires suitable for everyday riding are welcome too...been out of the motorcycle loop for so long that I don't really know whats good nowadays. PS: Have not had a street bike since about 88...lol...…

Hi all, I'm new to this site but need some advice. I'm a long term Virago rider but am rebuilding an old BSA that I've had for over 30 yrs. I'm putting a 125 Dragstar fromt end on it and am having a 21" rim built on to the hub. I didn't check the wheel for off-set before I took it apart. Actually it wasn't straight enough to check! Can anyone tell me if a Dragstar 125 front wheel is off-set or central. If it is off-set, how much and which side. Thanks, Rick.

Hi all. Ive just bought a R6 1999. its got minor damage to both sides. I thought id just respray the fairings as ive done a bit of spraying on cars in the past, I went to the dealers who sent me to a body repair shop. They told me its a three part paint that is a pain to get right. Does anyone know of a car paint that matches the 'purple blue metalic' 0564. Mark.

I have a 1998 SRV250 Renaissa, with 33,000km on the clock. I've had 20,000 trouble free kilometres out of the bike (except for replacing a starter motor because the sprag clutch collapsed). The bike has been weeping oil from the gaskets at the base of the barrels, for about the last 3,000km. A freind, who used to be a BMW mechanic, suggested that a re-tension of the head bolts may help. It means removing the motor from the frame and putting the torque wrench on the head bolts. Any idea of the torque setting for these head bolts? Fraser Motorcycles mechanic suggested that this wouldn't work and estimated the cost of replacing the gaskets at between $500 and $600 -…
