Ive searched all the local MC boneyards and have found a few rusty luggage racks that might work but would love to find a new one...my wife wants one that has a sissy bar or back rest mounted for her to lean back on....I need a luggage compartment on the back to carry some of my gear in but all the nice ones I found are accross the pond and shipping would be a b1tch....any help for here in the states?

Would Ignition Coils for a Yamaha XS500 work on a XS360 ?. I've can't find any reliable info on substitute replacement.. It's tough finding new coils. Old Bike Barn have new ones but the secondary is only 7K vs. 9.5K original. Seems like less spark to me..

Hi guys I'm new to this forum as I am new to Yamaha's. Got a query about getting rid of a dam restriction kit from my YZF-R6. Bought it the other week in mint condition but with one minor hitch - a 33bhp restrictor as the previous owner was under 21 years old (lucky git) . Unfortunately I feel its sacralige to have this bike like this, so it must go. Anyone got any ideas on what is in the restriction kit and how to get rid of it. Cheers Robbie

I have a 1999 XTZ600 tenere, it just won't start from cold! I smell that the fuel is through, so the engine is probably flooded. Mechanics have replaced plugs and tunes the carbs, but no joy. I have read that this is a common problem, but I'm not sure what the final fix may be! Anyone got any tips? Service the choke maybe?

My xs250 is running a very sootty plug on one side. Starts first kick with no choke when cold and is a bit sluggish when hot. Hoping this is just a carb problem so will lowering the float do the trick or is it not that simple.

I have an oil leak from the oil filter cover, after about 10km down a motorway, since the filter was "supposedly changed" by a local bike shop. The "O" ring has not been replaced as an xpat living in Spain it is almost like trying to find the holy grail. I tried to get one from the Uk but was informed "Your bike is an IMPORT, no can do" but the ring it's self does look ok and stands proud of the cover. To add to this the long bolt, M6 x 70mm situated at "9 o'clock" was stripped, only catching the first couple of threads on the crank case. There was still another 5mm depth so I fitted a 6M x 75mm bolt which cured the stripped thread problem but I still have an oil leak. …

Greetings: While my '92 XT225 is having an new head, valves and piston replaced (ouch!) I noticed that the rear shock is just a big spring. The mechanic said he'd replace it for free if I brought in the rear Monoshock. The dealer wants almost $300 for one shock! (I'm not really shocked.) Can someone recommend a more economical monoshock for my XT225? I believe many non-Yammy shocks would work fine. The "eye to Clevis bolt hole dimension" is 15" Thanks, Kevin

I have a bit of a conundrum at the moment and im looking for a bit of advice. The outer race of the bearing in the back wheel is not snug in the hub of the wheel so i need to fix it and i have a few options. 1) Go off and locate a 2nd hand rear wheel, it seems the more logical thing to do. 2) Buy a new hub and re-spoke it to the existing rim. 3) Re-machine the hub to take a larger bearing unit. 4) Use some sort of compound (bearing compound or chemical metal) to permanently glue the outer race to the hub. 5) Hands over the ears and ignore the problem. Problems with the above options: 1) Cant find a 2nd hand wheel anywhere ebay, local papers, word of mouth, …

1977 Yamaha XS360D2. I've had the carbs cleaned and adjusted, new plugs and points, valves adjusted and timing set. On the first start of the day it takes a minimum of a dozen kicks to fire it up. I've tried Choke , No choke, even Prime. Doesn't seem to make any difference. After the first start , it starts and runs fine the rest of the day ???.Now I wonder if the local bike service guy knows what he is doing or actually did the work I paid for. I may have have to go talk to him with a tire iron..!.. Any suggestions sure will help..
