I'm new to this site and I'm changing the spark plug wires in my FZR600 and I have got to the point where I need to take the wires out of the coil. I have the coil and the wires completely off the bike but it seems as if the wires are stuck inside the coil. I don't want to yank them out, but there is no access to get inside the coil. If anyone knows anything please let me know!! Thanks in advance!

Hi Peeps, been sorting through my CD's and I've come across parts lists from the SOHC '77 to the DOHC '83 models. I've found an upload site and don't know how long it keeps the file for so, get downloading http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1143...0-1977-pdf.html http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1144...0-1978-pdf.html http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1144...0-1979-pdf.html http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1144...0-1981-pdf.html http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1145...0-1982-pdf.html http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/1145...0-1983-pdf.html

My bike cries! :'( The bike in question is a 1982 XS400 Seca in an apparent great condition. I want to bump up the cond even more. It runs fine, yet, it produces a bad sounding noise. Let me describe: 1. Seems like it is dependent on ambient temperature as it is more likely to happen if it is cold (and it started happening all the time now). The speed at which it starts seems to be lower the lower the temperature. First few times it happened it rained heavily so I assumed it might be dependent on water, but last few times it was just cold. 2. It is not directly rev dependent. It starts around 40-60km/h (depends on air temp) and keeps at it even when I pull the cl…

Back to my hard start when cold poser !!. When I kick the crank a dozen times with choke on, and no start, and I pull the plugs, shouldn't they be wet ?. They are bone dry .. When the plugs are out, I shoot starter fluid in the plug hole , put the plugs back in and it will start easily. So now I look to the petcock, fuel filter and still maybe compression ?..

Does any one else have a Yamaha XS360-2D ?.. The speedometer cable is what I need info on. The one one my 360 has a threaded collar that goes to the speedo. The other end has a push in bushing affair with an o ring. Pushes in and secured by a clip. The Yamaha Parts manuel shows that type of cable as being the Tachometer cable and the speedo cable having a threaded collar fitting on both ends. I need a new speedometer cable but want to make sure I'll get the correct part..

Hi, I'm new to this and trust me, my two finger typing is taking some time! I have just bought a 2006 R6R and love it. The previous owner had a race can fitted and subsequently removed the EXUP cables. Now I have the bike and the original can is back on, I need some advice on re-fitting the EXUP cables. I have re-installed the cables so the valve rotates in an anti clockwise direction when the rpm's increase and then clockwise when they decrease, is this the correct operating direction? Thanks in advance! Martin

I bought a 89 750 Virago with 28500 miles. The rear cyl. runs about 125 psi The front is 95psi one teaspoon of oil brings it up to about115 psi The fool that had this bike before me adjusted the only valve he could. that was the exhaust valve on the front cyl, he set it so tight that the valve was not closing completely, so it will back fire a lot I reset the valve and it runs better but still backfires after it gets hot. I am wondering if the carbon is so much that it is trying to ignite? The plugs are showing a very rich mixture, but I have rebuilt the carbs and put new plugs . My plan is to place fans in front of the engine, plull eve…

Hello folks, I am renovating an old DT 50 (the older version, 1978-9). I'm very much a complete novice with motorcycles but I really fancied the challenge and I'm having a ball...until now. Anyhow - I've taken the bike to bits, cleaned, replaced, blasted, sprayed and disassembled everything and now I'm putting it all back together. That is until I tried to put the rear brake pedal back on. Then I really wished I'd followed my own advice on such matters which is to make copious notes, photos and sketches. Now I haven't the foggiest how it goes back. I can't believe it's got me stumped and I'd be really grateful for a pointer in the right direction. I have t…

I just bought a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim, and I'm looking for a used gas tank for it. Does anyone know whether a XS650 tank will fit? I know the XS tank doesn't hold as much gas as the XJ tank, but I'm having better luck finding XS650 gas tanks.

Hi All - First Post Here. I just picked up a nice aluminum Motorcycle Jack from Sears (Item #950191) unfortunately I don't see enough flat spots under the bike to jack it up on. Granted I haven't actaully tried it yet, but I'd like to know that it's actually possible before I dump the bike trying. Neither the owners manual nor the the Clymer book make any mention of motorcycle jacks. The pads on the jack are 12.5" long, but the V Star tubular frame measures 13" center left to center right. Am I missing something obvious? Did I buy the wrong thing? I suppose I could put the jack on an angle so the pads hit a left and right tube, but then I won't be able to secure the ti…

I have a 1994 Virago XV 535 that I bought as a starter bike. I was in the process of diagnosing a starter problem. As I progressed through the electrical system with my trusty Haynes and Clymer manuals and and a multimeter, I reached a point where I wanted to see if the starter motor was functional and decided to pop it off. At this point, 2.5 Quarts of Oil (Litres, if you prefer!) spill onto my patio. The guy who was helping me is a "Harley" guy who proceeded to announce "Harley's don't do that..." Neither manual suggests this would normally occur when you pop off the starter motor. I am curious if this is a totally normal thing that is not at all noted in t…

My clutch was nearly worn out so I decided to change it - seemed pretty easy but now it is back together I have loads of clutch but will not release fully - ie with clutch pulled it is still trying to drive. I have given it maximum adjustment but to no avail. I've disassembled and reassembled to check all was as I dismantled and nothing bent or twisted and seems ok. I do not know the torque settings for the clutch cover (the bolts with the springs) and they seem to want to keep turning but I'm worried about overdoing it. Any ideas please? Any assistance appreciated.

My Fazer 600 has started playing up when it gets to about 6-7000 revs under acceleration. Its coughing and spluttering and won't get past that rev range. Its only got 9000 miles on it and the only modification that i know of is a viper can. The carbs are balanced, the plugs seem good, air filter clear, etc. Has anyone got any ideas on this or come across similar. Also with the can, its got a removable baffle that when i put in makes the problem even worse to the point that the engine will sometimes cut out after you try and power through the coughing and spluttering bit.!! When its in neutral though it will rev round quite happily though..... odd?

I am a fairly new rider, recently while riding my bike it began to DIE (as in power failure), Luckily I was only 1 block away from my house, I ended up pushing it home (How embarrassing). This is the second time that this has happened to me...it always involves the battery. The 1st time, I went and bought a new battery (lasted for about 9 months before the 2nd time it died) The 2nd time, I simply recharged the battery. It seems like something is draining my battery. Any help/ideas on troubleshooting this problem would be appreciated.
