hello, im new to this site so if ive posted this in the roung place im sorry. I have a Yamaha SR 125cc. the problem ive been racking my brains over should be simple but is not. the bike wont start of the starter butten. bumps as easy as you like. i checked the carb/fuel lines. there clean used carb cleaner to flush the carbs. ive changed the settings on the air screw and the ideal speed screw. when the bike is running it sound perfect. when i check the spark plug its completly cotted in carbon, think black. i clean the SP then put it back in tri again, 5 mins l8r its cotted again. ive been told it could be the oil rings or the valve stem seils. any…

Hi again, I'm having an overheating problem and am looking for advice please. I've flushed through, back-flushed, rad-flushed and changed the head-gasket, but the reservoir tank still bubbles-up and overflows when riding for more than 1/2 hour. I've checked the thermostat on top of the head and that seems to be operating o.k., but the coolant flow diagram in the manual seems to show a by-pass hose AND another thermostat, is that right? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jay.

I have just purchased a 2005 R1 fitted with a Meta Def Com 3 alarm which I would like to remove. I have the certificate from the fitter at the Dealer (NE London). They have it on their computer record but referred me to an alarm engineer who wants to come and remove it himself. I would like to do this myself if possible. I can see the alarm leads in the Haynes manual wiring diagram. I also have the Workshop manual that does not help. It is easy to undo the connectors to the loom and remove the alarm body and wiring from the alarm; I am left with six leads emerging from the loom - all black with two green dots running along each wire. They disappear into the loom…

Hi guys, I've got a Yamaha r6 2009. I was thinking about possibly changing the fairings to another colour. Wasn't quite sure how it would work out with the Tank. Do these fairing kits come with the tank bits as well? or do I have to respray the tank to a matching colour. Highly confused! Does anyone know a reliable place to buy fairing kits from? or replacement fairings? Thanks Shabaz

Me again with another question....my battery runs outta power if i run the bike with the lights on during the day... yeah i know someone is thinking dont run with lights on lol but ur average car driver has enough trouble spotting us!! I only had me side lights on.....now maybe i need a new battery or need to give the whole electrical system a good checking...but from reading a 1987 Superbike mag on the FZ600 they say the battery runs very low after only a short time round town with lights on and the occasional use of twinkers....so the question is; is it possible to uprate the charging system on this bike? or is it just a question of buying a better battery....this o…

Hi Guys, newbie on the forum and I've got a question..... Sometimes, the rear wheel feels like its wandering to the left, independently of the front. This has happened a few times now and happens regardless of speed, wind strength or if I'm coming out of a bend. In fact, it's happened when I'm going in a straight line once or twice. It's not violent or anything, but I'm sure it's not right! The bike has high miles (42k) but has been REALLY well cared for and serviced etc. Any ideas? Cheers, Tim

I picked up a '74 DT 125 a couple months ago in really nice original condition. So here is the issue- it seems to be misfiring at mid-range. Here is what I have tried so far: -Nothing but 91 octane gas -Cleaned the tank, petcock, in line filter (was very clean to begin with). -Adjusted mixture screw back and forth -Tried adjusting the floats +- 1mm around 21mm (didn't make a noticeable difference) -Tried 3 different spark plugs, tried gap settings between .024 to .030mm -Tried Star Tron fuel additive from Del Amo Motorsports (old guy at the parts counter recommended it) -Checked the spark, seemed fine -Checked compression, @ 130 (very good) -Checked air filte…

Hello All, Due to the lack of Rs100 forks avaliable I obtained a set of RXS forks. All seems ok.Mudgaurd position is slightly different. Also the Rs had a long spacer which was clamped at the end of the fork.To stop the wheel moving along the wheel bolt but I cant find it to calculate the size I need with RXS forks. The RXS does not have this as the end of the fork as it is all one part.. Anyone know the dimenstions of the spacer for the RXS or the RS100. If I have the RS100 dimentions I can work out the dimentions needed. Manythanks for reading any suggestions very welcome. Craig

Hi. I have a 98 SR125. It goes OK and doesn't use oil, but it seems quite rattly compared to a modern YBR125 I rode recently. I have checked the cam chain for tension and both valves for clearance, so these aspects are fine. Can anyone comment - is it just rattly because it's an older bike? Thank you,.

Alright i haven't posted on these forums almost all summer this year, but this thread might interest some techs and serious tinkerers. i have been tinkering with my bike (my 1988 FZ-600U) the forever, rode it a few times but persistent problems need to be fixed. Mostly these are with electrical issues and with the carburetors. The electrical fixes are pretty simple - "buy new parts!" But the carbs are a bit trickier, i can't just buy new carbs because Yamaha doesn't have them anymore. And if they did, the greyed-out price in the catalogs is well over $1000USD!!! I can go on buying bits and pieces here and there for things like for example the float needle valves ($65 eac…
