hi, i own a tzr 4fl (same frame etc as the 250 3xv) does any1 know if the early yzf's etc wheels will fit? its the run of the mill 3spokes im hopin to move onto 4.5 rear and 3.5 front. ive measured every thing i can think of but no1 on ebay seems to give measurements back when you ask. i know there is clearance for larger wheels my only query is spindle size etc. so if any1 has got any knowledge of this, it would be helpful or even better if some1 has a pair of old thunderace wheel sitting convenientlyt next to a tape measure (wink wink) it would be handy. Thanks Ryan

Ok Yamaha fiends, please help out if at all poss. Here's the situation: My 'beloved' Yamaha SR125, which has seen me good for a year has recently started giving problems. Firstly, there was the dropped exhaust valve caper. Next, a broken float bowl. Then, another thousand miles of motoring before this: Started burning oil, so I got the barrel checked out and on good advice had a rebore done. That was last weekend. I managed to get everything back in good order or so I thought. Stood fine on tick-over for about 15 mins. I took her out for a spin and this is how she responded: Seemed Absolutely fine at low throttle and in the first gears 1 - 3. When building…

Is fairly well documented that the XJ600/Diversion clutch rattle can be cured by replacing the dowel on the oil pump drive. However, replacing the dowel with a standard Yamaha one does no good because the hole it fits in has worn. Discovered tonight that a gear change roll pin for an Austin Mini (not the BMW one) is a perfect fit, 7/32". They come as an inch long so need to be cut down. Lovely comfortable old dinosaur of a bike but the rattle has really been getting on my tits P

Hi All Have a YZF750R '94 which i love but i hate the sportmax tyres on it! The dilemma is i was going to get corsa III's but am starting uni next week and will be riding 350 miles a week so it works out to about £20 a week on tyres!!! Any one have a sensible suggestion on good handling but good mileage tyres? Dont mind paying the price just not four times a year! Cheers

I Recently aquired a warrior 4 wheeler w/ a 600cc fz/or radian etc. inline 4 air cooled and when I got it it did not have spark. I pulled the stator cover off and cleaned it up a bit and got spark but it would not run w/ out gas sprayed into carbs...so i pulled the carbs and cleaned them which the pilot jets were pretty cruddy and reinstalled. When I went to try and fire it up a few days after I again got no spark. just have no idea where to start. Electrical is not my thing at all. Any help would be very appreciated by this newbie.

Hi Decided to clean my exup valve cause I'm having power problems. The cables were really slack and the alignment was off, but rather than just tightening them and relaligning I decided to strip the valve and clean it properly and lub with copaslip etc. However when I took the cover off the valve plate bolts were so corroded it looks like it has never been cleaned (had the bike 5 months). Consequently the bracket that hangs the cables crumbled. Can't see anyone just selling the valve cover so it looks like I'm going to have to replace the downpipes and valve, the downpipes are very corroded too. Ive heard the bike will run with the valve left fully open, bu…

Hi All, By hook, crook, and otherwise I managed to hang onto my first ever bike. It's a 1978 YZ-80 that I bought brand new when I was 12. After spending 20+ years hiding in the garage I pulled the bike out of hibernation, put some gas/oil in the tank and after about 20 kicks it fired up, beautiful! My 9-year old son is now anxious to try "Dad's old bike" out for himself. It will make a great restoration project. There's some obvious parts the bike needs (tires, chain & sprockets, brake pads, rear swingarm bushing etc.) but need some advice from the group, hence this posting. I put the bike away properly way back when I stored it (drained tank & float …

Hi All Bike: Yamaha DT 125R (2006 reg) After having a bit of an accident, the left hand side of the handle bar was hit and it damaged the clutch switch (The clutch lever is equipped with a clutch switch, which is part of he ignition circuit cut-off system.) The clutch lever it self is fine, the problem is when you put the bike in gear the engine switches off. Seems like the clutch switch (part of he ignition circuit cut-off system) is just a bit of metal next to the left hand grip but i have no idea in what positions it should be. Anyone have any idea how I can fix the clutch switch or how i can disable the clutch switch (part of he ignition circuit cut-of…

Hi, I've had the head off my bike because it didn't run on no. 2 cylinder & coolant was mixing with the oil. The head was fine (no warping) & no valve leaks so I put it back together with a new Yamaha head gasket - everything correctly torqued. Now it doesn't run on no. 4 cylinder & coolant's still in the oil. Anyone know if the heat exchanger is known to leak on these models ? Any suggestions appreciated - thanks.

OK I am at my wits end here. Something is draining my battery and I can figure out what it is. I bought the manual and downloaded the ELECTROSPORT Charging system fault finding flow chart and come up with nothing. I replaced the BATTERY and the STARTER RELAY thinking it was them but nothing. I have tested the Rectifier/Regulator and it seems to test fine however I am only getting about 13.4 volts at idle and about 13.9 volts at about 2500 rpms. Two things that are bothering me is 1. the charging voltage is up there but not quite what the specs say it should be but I don't want to buy a regulator though as I can't bring it back if it doesn't fix the problem ($80)and.…

Hello all, Its been a little while since I last posted here. I've had scaffolding in my garage, so not much room to work on my bike. And I also just started back to university, so it's been a busy time. But I have finally gotten round to trying to fix the ignition problems with my yb100. I have decided to fit new contact points. Although the old ones's dont look bad, I have new ones, so they may as well go on. This is where I have hit a brick wall. When I refitted the magneto, I tried to set the timing using an electric voltimeter (and screwdriver for TDC). But before I even got to setting the points, I have a problem. The contact points don't open, at all. When I set …
