Hi, I baught a 11 month old Stolen / Recovered YBR125 and am having a few problems with it. Firstly the main problem is it has started to cut out in the most inconvenient places (roundabouts and junctions). I have fitted a new genuine Yammy lockset so I doulbt its the barrel switch thats at fault. Its fine around town (most of the time, it ran flawlessly during the 110 mile ride back from Blackburn) Secondly are things like the neutral light switch, side stand cutoff switch and started relay designed to last 1400 miles, all 3 are shot already and I dont know if the warrenty is still valid due to the fact that it has been stolen in the past. Thanks in advance, M…

My Mikuni carburettor is intermittently leaking fuel through the overflow outlets. I have replaced the needle and seat and adjusted the float level several times without a great deal of success. I thought I had a win after adjusting the centre tang to be parallel with the tangs that the floats touch. When I reinstalled no fuel was leaking, took it for a short ride and still all OK after. Left the fuel tap on to see if it would stay that way - it did for an hour, then started leaking slowly. Tried again today and it started leaking as soon as i turned the fuel on. I don't understand why it would change - could understand if I hadn't replaced the needle and seat (w…

okay, my bike is a XT125X, i bought it yesterday and running fine, however, this morning i turned the key and nothing, none of the dash would light up, the neutral light wont light up, all it says is MPH on the dash, which does that anyway, also last night when it was running fine, the battery was showing 1 bar of life left, thats why it wouldnt electric start up, ive tried bumping it, and have tried kicking it up, still nothing. also cleaned the plug it might be an over night solution, becasue when i went to look at the bike it wouldnt run, but the next day kicked up first time, if anyone can shine some light on this problem it would be much apprecieated, thanks in ad…

Hey guys, only new to the forum, but look forward to being an active member. Recently purchased a wr400f 2000model from a mate, who rode it once a year for the past 2 years,. I have the bike home, and have been fiddling a bit and have one last prob to fix till its all done. The bike will start fine with the choke out, and will idle. Although even after a good warm up, doesnt seem to want to idle if the choke is pushed in. if i push it in and try revving it it bogs down. If i start riding and push the choke in it rides beautiful. any suggestions on what to do. I have just drained the tank and filled it with new premium fuel. i am going to replace the plug. I had a f…

I have problems finding parts for my 88 Genesis sometimes. Anyone know any Exup parts which will or wont fit? I am wondering about front disks, front wheel, petrol pump, petrol tank and an engine changeover as mine doesn't seem like it is going to last much longer I was thinking about swapping to the exup engine, don't know how realistic this is though. Cheers everyone

Hi, Just wondered if it is possible to change over the pistons and block from a xs400 on to a xs250 engine? Will it fit through the engine caseing? Would the head off the 250 fit the 400 block or would it have to be changed. Would the dome sphere in the 250 head have to be made bigger to allow for the 400 pistons or will it fit straight on without problem. Are there any other problems that might arise from this conversion. OR Is it best to just get a complete 400 head (easier option I know but have the 250 here already but want that bit more power). Thanks, morgan105

Ok, based on the advice from one of the www.wrenchmonkees.com guys I bought some motocross levers to put on my 81' XS400 I bought a set of ASV F3's and he said those would work, I also bought a master cylinder from a '05 YZ250 which was told would also be fine but I may need to replace the bolt (not sure what that means). I am new to this and I am learning as I go. I currently have stock wheel with a drum brake hub, I would like to convert to disc and need to know basically everything, I found some front fork legs that look like they accommodate disc calipers, can I swap these onto my current fork? Also I would like to keep the spoked wheel look, can I swap out the hub w…

Hi, I'm new to the club but badly in need of some help/advice please. My dtr 125 was running o.k. until the head gasket blew. I've fixed that but now the power valve doesn't seem to come in. I opened up the electrical/gear side of the cable-control unit and that seems to be working o.k. There is a motor fed by 2 lives giving out 11.7v each, but the smaller unit alongside the motor only seems to be getting 4.5v to each of the connectors. The valve itself seems free enough and when the ignition is switched on it turns, but doesn't return when the key is turned off without starting the engine. Could this unit be faulty or is it likely to be thd c.d.i.? I knicked a live when …

hi guys, im after a little advice, i have a yzf750 sp i use for drag racing and a daily commute [ if the weathers nice!]. After 25 hamfisted starts on a very hot day the clutch started to slip and now the biting point of the clutch is right at the top of the lever which would suggest ive worn the original clutch out. I am considering fitting a kevlar clutch but on reading the product information it says the clutch lever has a completly different feel over the stock item, i dont really want the back wheel locking up on me on everyday riding as the biting point is too fierce [on of off]. I wondered if any1 has fitted a kevlar clutch to thieir bike and got on well wit…

Hey everyone. New to Yamaha forum. I have a 79 400 xs thats been sitting for 3 years. I just got back and the tank is varnished and rusted inside. Muriatic? Phosphoric? Vinegar? Coca-Cola? Dont know too much about cleaning carbs. I could use a bit of opinions on that. My right signal works. My Left does not. I hear a click when I go right. No click when it goes left. I switched bulbs. Same thing. Right works. Left nothing. I put volt meter...getting 12v current to the right when switch goes right. No current to the left when switched left. Took apart switch. Sprayed and checked connections. Nothing corroded. All grounds are good. Switch or Flasher? Opinions ar…

Hi all, my bro is struggling to get his FZ6 on the road..everytime he fixes one thing another problem shows up...he started his bike the other day it ran for a few minutes then started choking, back firing...he felt the engine and noticed only one half was warm....turned bike off went in the house to fetch a big hammer when he came back the bike was p*ssing out oil and fuel...well he sorted the fuel problem out (usual FZ6 carb prob) but he cant understand why the oil is coming out of an air pipe?....the pipe in question is connected to the bottom of the airbox and attaches to the engine.. any ideas why oil might be coming out of this pipe?

FZS 1998 has no electric power to gauges etc, the ignition switch is dodgy and I want to replace it, I have ordered a new one Any suggestions on how to remove the old one would be great. Not sure if the switch will solve the main problem no power reaching gauges etc but needs replacing anyhow so good place to start, any suggestions regarding total lose of power would be great, battery appears ok, I have checked some of the circuit and have confusing results.

Hi all, new to the forum, but not to biking. Had a sojurn of around 20 years mind you. Anyway i just got a 93 Sr125 and am in the process of stripping it down, but i'm stuck. The sump plug is seized solid, I've tried pretty much everything (mole grips. heat, etc) but as it was already rounded I've not pushed it too far. Any ideas as to how to remove it? Oh it does remove normally ie, left loose/right tight. DC.
