i have a 1985 dt 125lc which when i kick it over it runs rough for a second the engine then kicks back the wrong way which has now broken something inside that stops the kick start when it returns to its seating position now it is sitting against the caseing.i cannot understand how an engine can suddenly reverse direction any idease guys

Can I transplant the R/R from a 1980 Suzuki GS 550 onto a 1979 Yamaha XS 750 Special? They are both 12 volt systems, and the R/R's both have 5 wires. I realize that the old GS series had a lot of R/R issues, but I think this one works. I just figure, a r/r is an r/r and it shouldn't make a difference. The purpose for doing this would be to solve a charging problem the yamaha has, and because it's the only rectifier I have lying around.

i have a dt125lc that has an intermittent fault which is sometimes it starts and runs fine but other times it starts very lumpy and keeps cutting out then backfires,i have cleaned out the carb but it made no difference when it is just about running it wont rev up then cuts out and backfires,also i am not sure but i had the cover off the left side of engine and the stator wheel spins when its struggling to run then when it cuts out the wheel spins the opposite way and if you still have kick start down it kicks back up any ideas guys

Hi all, Wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what might be going wrong here. I cleaned out and set the carburetor of my yb100 and put it back in. Then tried to get it going. Battery fine, petrol in, oil ok. It wouldn't go when i tried to kick start it tho. I was trying for a good five minutes and nothing. Then I replaced the spark plug, and it started on the second kick! Here's the problem, the first spark plug was new, and not spoiled in any way. It went in shiny, and came out just as clean. When it was running, it was idling high, so I reduced the stop screw down till it was running relatively low, then I did it a wee bit too far and it cut out. Then it would not…

I have an '09 YBR125 and have been trying to look up ways of making it go a little faster.i can get 60mph out of it but if i end up stuck behind a car at 45mph theres never enough accelleration to overtake and where i live you can get stuck behind car for ten miles not really any fun. One of my friends suggested a new CDI but i have no idea where to get one and how much difference it would make any helps?

Please can someone help me here, I keep reading that the bike can do over 400kms on a full tank. I bought mine a week ago, used with 8500kms on it, seems in very good condition however Im only getting about 240kms to a tank, is that very low?? There is no way I get anywhere near the quoted figures and want to know if there is something wrong with the bike and can it be fixed? Hi by the way, my first post, newby to this I had a Jinlun 125-11 before this but had so many problems with it the Yahama seems like a Ferrari to drive compared to it(exaggeration I know but you should have driven the Jinlun!) Please let me know asap! p.s. also having some ignition problems…

Hi all, I am about to service my t/cat including changing the air filter. The replacement air filter seems dry but I am under the impression that it needs to be covered in oil. Does anyone have any advice on this? Many thanks

I'm trying to purchase some paint to re-spray my bike. However, the code i've found is 4TV5 - 070 C thats on the bike sticker and on the Yamaha colour code system the code is 004B BL2. My local paint shop only regonises the BL2 part of the code not the numbers, is that enough to match the colour?? He has quite a few different Yamaha black colours and i want to get the exact shade. Please help Thanks

just got in from taking the heat sheild off the stock exhaust from my r6 and noticed there are cables on it, just curious what there for and where they connect gonna put a Graves on it im guesssing the cables should be dissconected and removed???

Hi, can you help me. I have had my full power Canadian v-max for two months so know very little about it. I started it up yesterday and all was fine, I let it warm up a little then set off, as I accelerated away it cut out momentarily then picked up again, when I put the power down a second time the same happened, it continued to do this more and more frequently until it stopped altogether. It now doesn’t start at all, it turns over but there is no spark, I was wondering if the CDI unit may have gone and if so was there a way to test it? Joe

Hi ppl, My R6 has started to jump in 2nd gear when i go for it, it only happens in 2nd all the others are sound! I'm guessing i'll need and new gearbox or rebuild am i right or anyone else got any ideas? Checked the chain tension and sprockets which are all new they are ok. Thanks guys Paul

Hi there, After 20 ish yrs standing in the garden my hubby and I have just rebuilt an XS250SE for my use. We had it running mot'd and taxed and all was going well until we noticed blue smoke and decided this was due to a valve oil seal not being correctly fitted. So we took the top off and dealt with the issue. but having done this and put it back together we now cannot get it to start. We have checked all the usual things, we have a good spark at the plugs, the timing is as close as we can get it. The tappets are correct, all the wiring appears to be good. Any ideas?
