Did the clutch a year and few thousand Km ago. There was some dripping of oil after repair, but most came from seals on left side. Replaced except the highest one on the main axle behind the flywheel a few months ago when I had to repair the starter motor. Because its sprocket drops into the right crank case, I took this off and put all back with a thin paper gasket (self made) and liquid bond only on outside. I knew it might not seal, but this repair was 1200 Km away from home where I thought to have a good thicker blue gasket extra made in Bangkok the year before. The man who made this was right when he said that I could not keep and use this blue one over time (I don't…

I need your help please - Since a slow speed (30mph ish) spill on either diesel or black ice my battery doesn't want to hold its charge. A reading from a multimeter before charging gives 12.37volts, after charging 13.27, so that's encouraging. The spill might have just been a coincidence but had to have the bike recovered as it just wouldn't turnover - pardon the pun. The battery lasts a couple of pleasure or commuter trips and it needs recharging again Your ideas or thoughts appreciated. Fossie Bear

Firstly to say im a new member, and am experiencing a problem with my virago 125. It has a problem where it runs nice but then will suddenly cut out. Once this happens it will not start again until either the ignition is turned off then on, or the cut out switch is turned off then on again, when either of these two are done it fires straight back up off the button. Im racking my brains so any advice or info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers

So as many/most/all of you chappy owners out there know, the pedals on the LB50 have the ability to lock and the one on the left side of the bike can release and flip forward so they act as pegs...well my locking pin busted...removed the left pedal ordered a new pin(which i will be picking up today) but put the pedal back on the bike temporarily...only thing is that you, for now cannot engage the sprocket to pedal start it...no problem.. however, the thing that i found when i was trying to show a friend what the pedals could do...is that i can no longer flip that left pedal forward..it is seemingly locked in place where it would be to pedal. I did not remove the left ped…

The speedo gearing has gone on my xj600n (97) so Monday I popped it up on the paddock stands took the front wheel off, removed the gearing then found out that it was the wrong one, put it all back together again then came to put it back up the drive and it wouldn't start? The bike turns over, the battery is fine, all lights work, all fuses are fine but no spark? the strange thing is that when in neutral and the ignition is on, every 5 seconds the rev counter goes up yo 2K for 2 seconds then drops back down again? I had the AA out to it this afternoon and he couldn't find anything, so unless I can sort it, I will have to get them to take it to my local Yamaha dealer…

first off hello, i have not been on this website for a while as i have been away with the Army. i got myself a 2001 5jj R1. (carb version) a couple of months ago, off a trusty police man.... i went for a couple of rides and it seemed fine, then on one ride out the engine started to sound like it was running on one cylinder. it then cut out.(all i thought off was that i ran out of fuel) i walked to the petrol station and filled up and the bike started fine and got me home. the thing is my bike will cut out after only doing 30ish miles, from a full tank. if i just wait 15mins after the bike cuts out it will start up fine again and get me home??? yesterday morning wit…

Hi I just registered for the site. I have a real problem. I need to remove the fork legs to have new seals installed. I have removed the four pinch bolts and the tubes are fast in there. I have managed to get them out of the top yoke with plenty of oil and a large hammer and a steel drift but they are really stuck in the bottom yoke. The bike is in near perfect condition and no rust on the parts. I have done this job several times before on other bikes and just cant believe that the tubes don't just slide out. I am now thinking I may have to strip off the top fairing and remove the steering head complete with tubes and take it in to the shop. This would be a …

Hi All, After some advice on the wifes 125 ybr (06), every few months 3-4ish it has trouble starting, we have had new battery, new leads new spark plug and all works fine for a few months. Now its having trouble again the starter goes and makes all the usual 'just about to start' noises (so think the battery is fine) but it doesn't actually start/ignite the engine, I'll try a new spark plug today but it only had a new one & leads about 3 months ago. £100 bill every 3 months is not good. Also tried kick start-nothing. cheers.

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has knowledge of how to remove restrictor kit on my 2005 Fz 600, I passed my test 2 yrs ago so can't wait to get kit removed and feel the extra power. Local garages charge £50 - 60 to remove, so I thought if it wasn't to difficult I would remove myself. Any help would be welcome. Paul

hi guys, im new to the forum and wondered if i could get some help im rebuilding a DT 125 engine (il show project pics later) im replacing all the bearings with new ones, most the new ones are fitted but today i bought the last 2 i needed witch have been hard to find. the bike shop i got them from told me i could remove the seals from the bearings and run them open in my gearbox. now all this is fine but what concerns me is the fact the inner cage that holds the bearings in is a type of plastic. will this be ok to use still? im worried they might wear with grit or contaminents in the oil. the bearings are for the counter balance weight shaft and the primary gea…

Has anyone managed to put a full fairing onto a trx850!!! or know of anyone who has. Been looking around and cant seem to find anything on this, i'm sure someone must have had the same idea and gave it a go. I will be giving this a try at some point, but would like to find out which fairing would be the best fit, and how much of the brackets, clocks, and lights could be kept, or would have to get all this with whatever model fairing was best fit. Any help would be great guys....... Franky

;)For any one who did not read my last post i have bought my first big bike yamaha xj 600 21.000 miles full service history, and a lady owner for 5 years and hardly used, and garaged the whole time, the bike runs just fine but kicks out a lot of white smoke when it gets warm, and smells of fuel..only a bit!!...there is a ticking noise from the front of the engine, yamaha members asked me to see if all four exuast ports got hot, yes they did..and no i did not burn my hands lol i have phoned a local guy to get the carbs balanced but he reckons it will cost £100..is this right? a freind told me it's one hour work for a garage?..yamaha members also told me to video the soun…
