HI ALL, I went to check the oil pump today and found that the marks dont line up due to the cable being too tight, after this got me thinking i checked all the adjusters(the one for the carb, the one that goes into the oil pump and the one at the throttle)and i found they are all set at the absolute minimum with no way to adjust them, the cables are all tight so i assume its not the proper throttle cable for the bike, anyone know the best place to pick up one for a 96 plate rx-s 100?cheers.

Hi there I have as stated a Yamaha ybr 126 56 plate, which now does not start Just before christmas it was becoming increasingly hard to start the bike, I took this down to the cold weather, tucked it up over winter and now want to get her out again now the suns out (I know I am soft) I ran the battery down trying to get it started, and now after charging the battery there is no life in the battery, this may be due to the battery as the levels were low which I topped up, but the lights come on and when I hit the starter button everything dims but no movement in the starter. I got it to kick start before I ran the battery down, and I did get it going briefly bo…

The gear shift lever is badly worn making gear change erratic and jerky, I cannot seem to remove it from the spindle, I release the nut and take out the retaining bolt but the arm will still not come off, I do not want to force it off, is there a knack to it..??

I need some wisdom and figured this was the place! My '06 650 Classic has been garaged all winter and high and dry. I charged the battery and then started her up. But every time I go to close the choke a bit, after the bike seems warm, it shuts down-like it's not getting gas. I checked everything I can think of: air cleaner, etc. and took everything apart looking for mice nests etc. -none of that. It's also making a kind of mechanical "clicking" noise when I turn the key. Almost like you would hear with a car that has a dead battery, but the bike starts. It just won't keep running without the choke wide open. I shot a phone video to get the sound and will send it along t…

The Haynes manual shows the FZR600 3HE cams clearly marked 'In' & 'Ex' but my FZR600R 4JH only has 'E' marked on one of them & I can't make out what the other mark is. The local Yamaha dealer doesn't know ! Anyone know for sure if the attached photo is the exhaust cam pls ? Thanks.

:(Hi I am new to the forum so any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 94 WR250 with an 88 YZ250 engine that is running terrible and has no power. First it has great compression, I have also cleaned the carb thoroughly. It starts second or third kick with choke on but I have to take the choke off as soon as it starts or it will die. Sounds to be too rich but I dont think that is all or the main issue but I do need help there also. I had to swap out the flywheel and magneto coils to be able to use my existing WR electrical CDI so I may also have the timing off a bit. Is there a way to at least check without expensive tools? Only other thing I am wondering is if th…

I was hoping that some of you goodpeaple could help me out with this what feels like not such a little problem. I currently have a XVS125 which was running nicely, then while out a few weeks ago it started to snow quite heavily and at first there was no problem, but then i suddenly started to lose power and speed, when i pulled it into a lay-by and let it return to tick over it just died a death on me. I called out the mechanic's who did the check for a spark and he found the the rear pot had a good spark while the front pot was weak and intermitan, since i got iut home and left it to dry out i have checked and replaced both plugs and have i believe a decent spark on …

I was wondering if any of you good people could help me out with a problem... I recently purchased a 125 xvs dragstar and am having some issues with the battery/starting. The bike will run fine for a few days and then out of nowhere it just wont start, it seems as though the battery is dead but rather than making the usual "struggling to tick over sound," when i press the ignition it makes a buzzing noise and nothing happens. Once I recharge the battery it works fine for a few days to a week and then it will happen again? The battery is only a month old so I don't think it should be loosing charge.... Although it is 5a which seem a bit small (even for a 125)to me? a…

I just picked this my new 2009 Venture yesterday, it has been triked out by Hannigan and this evening when I went out to start it my audio system came on, radio playing, etc. (The system worked well yesterday) The problem is my audio control is not giving me a display and seems to be not working, (i.e. I can't change the station, turn it down, turn it off, etc) but the radio continues to play on. The manual is of no help, it tells me all about the operation of the audio systems, but does not tell me what to do if the control mechanism does not work. I guess my question is this to others who own the bike, is this a common problem is there a reset somewhere is th…

Hi, I bought a winter hack, a lil ol' dt50 on an 04 plate. The problem is that when I try and give it some, it just dies!!!! Its fine up to half revs and detests hills (which is crap for a crosser lol!) I dont know much about the bike, I have been told it has a de-restricted exhaust fitted, the guy thinks its an 88 mm main jet (but he cant remember!) What size should be in there as standard and what size is recommended? Also, does anyone have an 'idiots guide' as I dont know how to change jets :-) One final (stupid) question....my mate tried to tell me its a 2-stroke, but I didnt think it would be as its a 2004 model???? Sorry for the long thread, hope some one can help m…

Hi all i had to take an alarm (meta 351a) off of a 600 thunder cat reg 1999 on friday and have a problem with the bike now. I have been fitting car alarms as my job for the last 10 years and have done a few bikes so i know what to look for when deinstalling an alarm. I traced the wires to where the factory alarm wiring was (black wires with silver bands)i then found the 2 indicator wires, the live supply, the ignition supply and the earth and was left with 2 wires, 1 pair i tested and found to be the starter button cut and the other 2 wires 1 went from the side stand and the other went to an ecu with a mitsubishi logo on, I rejoined the starter wires and the other 2 wi…

Ideas wanted please, my dt seems to tick over too high and whatever adjustments are made at the carb make no difference. It has a new throttle cable, running a standard airbox and I'm sure there's no air leaks. thanks

hi ive got a 600 thundercat 1997 and it wont start, once its bumbed started it runs like a dream, but getting it started is my problem, ive done the usual its been to the garage and they said they fixed the kill switch on the handle bars, work for about week then started playing up again i have a sneaky suspision that its the wire connecting the kill switch on the side stand to the starter circiut relay but cant trace the wire without seperating the whole loom anyone got any ideas on how i can test this????

  19. Started by parky,

I'm nearing the end of an LC2 rebuild and have everything running and sorted apart from the ignition cut out. On checking it looks like I have a later F model CDI unit which has no Black/White wire going to it. This just happens to be the switched wire from the cut out and ignition switch on the loom. I tested the B/W wire and hey presto it earths when the switches are operated. The question is how do I get this to kill the sparks on the CDI with no B/W wire?? Suggestions (other than a new CDI unit) will be gratefully recieved. Chris

Trying to establish the colours of the Tacho pulse and speedo pulse wires at the speedo head in an effort to fit a digi gear indicator. Tried the local Yamaha dealer who tells me that the wiring diagram they hold on micrfiche is so small that the different colours cannot be identified. (Even magnified). Anybody fitted one of these to an XJ6 or can give any pointers?
