Hi, I've been thinking about getting a 170cc athena bore kit for a 89 tzr125. The kit is designed for the 96 plus bike, but i'm not convinced the cylinders are different from the old and new bike. I've been checking part numbers and the only difference is the 3 letter model prefix at the start of the part number. Has anybody tryed this already or have any info regarding it? (The kit comes with a new head, so thats not a issue. But the crankcases have different part no.s and revision codes:S)

I am having problems with the kick on my bike, a xs500 as you might figured out already : ) After I replaced my clutch and gotten everything back together I noticed that my kick didnt spring back, so I took of the crank case cover and managed to get right into hell. Replacing the clutch, the gear lever axle and the clutch basket took a hour, now I was going to spend much more time in the abyss of the crank case. First the ignition fell apart, so I had to strip that, next the kick spring cover didnt align up so when I had putten all together and kicked a small accident happened. The big cogwheel behind the clutch basket chewed the plate on the cover to pieces... But the …

Hi, I am the second owner of a 1969 Yamaha DT1B. The previous owner converted it into a dirt only bike, and removed all of the electrical components, including the 2 lighting coils in the magneto. I am in the process of restoring this bike back to original, including all of the electrical components. I have purchased the 2 new lighting coils, and my question is: Does anyone have information that describes or shows how to properly wire the coils together, so the 2 lighting coils and source coil all work properly? I haven't had any luck locating this information online, or at a Yamaha dealer. Any help would be great!

Hey all. Need opinions. Bike has been off road while ive been unemployed. Just had full engine rebuild, but still few niggles to iron out. Battery was fully charged on sat & put back in bike, bike put back in garage & not touched. Todays its as flat as a pancake, not even a light or horn. Any ideas how to find the voltage drain or what it could be? Thanks Vic

  12. Asking for my friend who rebuilt a 85 Ninja 600r, He rebuilt an engine new gaskets/piston rings etc with help from a beginner mechanic ... Engine looks sealed tight. Finally got the engine on the bike after months. and engine turns over, but doesnt start. Quick test showed no compression (maybe 10 max he said). I think the mechanic said might be cam chain timing opening valves at weird times so compression doesnt go well... Is this true? what else could it be? and how to solve if it is the cam chain timing ... any steps to fix correctly (his manual should have it i guess)... (im sure he'll ask his mechanic boss but just wanted to get some other opinions as well)

Howdy All, I bought a '99 SR 125 a couple of weeks back and have been tinkering around with it ever since. I'm not sure that this is a problem - perhaps it's just the bike - but there seems to be a bit of a flat spot in second gear. When I first get into second it picks up quite quickly, then flattens out for a second or so, until finally picking up again. I wondered if this sounded unusual, or whether other SR 125 owners experienced a similar phenomenon? Cheers, Adam

hi i have had my bike a little while, had no problems til the thread got knackered on the head then it decided to crack, replaced it with a standard 125 head and piston, now when i try to start it, it will try and try then backfire and try some more but wont start. it was working fine before even though the head was wrong and it had piston slap, the spark is sparking petrol flowing and 2 stroke lubricating, i cant see why it wont start as all i have done is replace the broken head and pistons, please please help if you can as i love this bike and dont wont to blow it up which was on my mind after trying for 8 hours to get it working
