Ello, I hope to have my r125 by the end of May, I dont plan on buying a brand new one, but I do want to stick with it for a few years. So Im thinking about having it custom painted... Im a chrome fan... I know chrome spray costs alot, but I was wondering, what should I expect to pay for an - all-fairings paintjob? I will design the job myself, being a bluddy art student () but Im just wondeirng what to expect to pay. I just want something simple... originaly and most likely, I will have the majority of it painted white. Knowing me ill end up pushing it, and would try for a chrome job... I know how to keep design sophisticated and not cheesy (heh my ide…

  2. Excuse the ignorance. I havent used my bike for a couple of years. It has just been out in the garden doing nothing. I know shameful! You see I was learning on a 250, and passed on everything EXCEPT turning around in the road!!! 4 times!!! Even more shameful!! So I want to get up and going again, though this time, I aim to just get the CBT and use the 124. Can I still do that and pass after a couple of years, whatever? So first thing is to charge the battery, I can then get a mechanic to check it over etc. later. So, how do i get the battery out? Cheers Mik

Hi all, New to the site but after some help. I dropped my bike recently causing severe damage to the fairing - I've heard it described as the top fairing or nose fairing??? I know a replacement wont come cheap but does anyone know of a good dealer who could help me out with this without it costing the earth? I'm after a black fairing. I live in the Plymouth area but the internet is a wonderful thing! Hope you can assist. Cheers Taff

Hi, First of all i will apologise for my amature knowledge of scooters but we have to start somewhere. I have just recently purchased a Yamaha MBK Nitro 100cc 2 stroke. It has new carb, piston, airfilter, a racing exhaust, new drive belt and i am not sure if the rollers are new but i think they are 12 grams. Theres not a problem starting her. Starts first time! Kick and electric. When pulling away she is REALLY slow until she gets into the second gear then she pulls away nicely I need help to try and resolve this problem as it is doing my head in and obviously going to be p*ssing other motorists on the road especial ones behind me. Could the reason be t…

Hello I just picked up a 1981 xs400 for my wife. Kinda a project, putting the hard tail kit and all that good stuff on her. Well today when I took off the battery and the battery box I noticed the regulator wasent plugged up and there is no plug that matches it anywhere. The person or should I say kid I bought it from pretty much stripped all the wires except the bare to make it run. When I got it tail light and head light not hooked up and now I know why. Because if it is it wont be charged long. There is no fuse box or anything no blinkers, horn nothing. Is this something I can wire back in to get her to charge? Thanks.

In the fall I purchased a 1993 Seca II. It wasn't running, due to sitting for three years, but I got it cheap and figured I'd take the chance. I just got around to taking apart and cleaning the carbs and plugs, and after two days, I've got her "running." After putting it all back together and starting it up, it ran and I was happy as hell. I ran it on choke for a few minutes and when I put it on half choke or regular idle, it started leaking gas pretty fast. Underneath the carbs are these rubber gaskets with screw clamps on them which are called "Joint carb 4" on the diagram. They connect the carb to the engine joint. These are where the gas seems to be leaking from on…

My XJ600 is blasting around the Cotswolds very nicely so I thought I'd give Tim at Motorvation in Leckhampton (near Cheltenham) a big thank you for his help. The bike was a bit of a basket when I brought it to him over Christmas and he got everything spinning nicely for a very reasonable price - and he didn't laugh at it once! If you're in the area you wont go wrong here. His business park is half way up Leckhampton Hill on the right. Check him out, nice chap, great workshop. Off for a blast about. Cheers! CRG.

Folks, About to restart a 1983 XS250RK DOHC engine after 20 years rest. I will pull the plugs and turn over gently first. Q.Does this model have a wear problem? Oil was changed every 3000km, oil filter every 6000. Had it since 1985. 45000km on the clock now. It always showed aluminium 'slime'/fine filings around the filter base, on changing. Not a comforting find. Usually means something is wearing badly. Cams do not have bearing shells.Wondered if it suffered from low oil pressure to the head. Any experienced bike mechanics out there have some opinions? Thanks.

I got new seals and dust covers for my 1975 XS650 forks and the manual I have does not indicate that there is pressure on the Cap NUT. I don't want it to fly through the roof if I remove the cap so I wonder if anyone can give me some advice.

Hi All After months (bought last year as a no-runner) rebuilding my DT250MX (1980) and with the sun finally out, I thought now would be a good time to try and start it up! So fresh petrol battery charged sort of, kicked it over after a few kicks it burst in to life, straight to 8000 rpm and stayed there, flick the throttle and nothing happened. So took carb off checked rubbers for leaks and adjusted float height (16mm) put it back on and same problem, any and all ideas welcome. Cheers sandy

I was wondering if anyone out there can help me. I was wondering what the stock HP is on my 2006 V Star 1100 Custom. Just looking for a baseline so that I can keep track of componentry. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I am in the States... some bikes have different HP when sold to different countries for certain purposes. Thanks in advance!

I have a very low mileage '06 V-Star 1100. Bought it last week with only 517 miles on it. It has a Kuryakyn hypercharger installed. I noticed tonight that there is oil leaking out of the bottom of the hypercharger. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? What would be causing that, and what do I need to do to take care of it. Dealership where I bought the bike sells all used bikes "as-is", so I have no warranty with them.
