  4. Being a newbie at this forum i would like to say Hi and greetings from Denmark to all of you I have a question regarding the BS32's fitted to my 1U5 XS250. I recently removed and dismantled the carburettors on the bike for a cleaning, and i have a suspicion that the clips on the needles are not sitting in the right groove. In the Haynes manual it says that the needle position on the 250 is 4... But does anyone know if this is 4 counted from the top or the bottom ?? The needles has 5 grooves in them and the e-clips are now sitting in the second groove from the top. Thanks in Advance.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys thanks for all the help. I have a slight problem when the bike is in netural or have the clutch in the bike revs fine, but when I ride it seems as thoutgh the bike is missing, but not all the time and some time the reves drop and if you open the throttle they pick up again if you rev it a few times. I think it is a feuling problem so I took off the carb too see if any dirt got in and check the jets when I blew on them they didnt seem blocked ____________________

Hi again peeps, I've been a "fix it yourself" kinda guy since 1964. I've had a variety of bikes from British to Japanese, with German and Italian in the mix for good measure. I must say I have found this forum MOST HELPFUL I have been trying to re-solder the wires onto the contact plate inside the starter switch. Two of the wires are still attached but I cannot see the colours on the blown up copy of the excellent colour diagram (found through this forum thanks ) Does anyone know which colour wires go to which terminals ? There are 4 wires connected to 2 terminals. The terminal nearest the actual button has a Blue/Black on the bottom and a Brown on the …

Anybody know the best place to go to get a cylinder head re-bored with new piston? Is it best to go to a local engineers / yam dealership (£££££?) or is there a reasonable company over the internet that I can send it to? What is the going rate for the work? What about a Cylinder Re-sleeving Service - any experience with that? I see there is a service for this on e-bay for £185? Worth it? The cylinder I have was reasonably new, but has suffered damage through oil starvation (2-stroke). Defo not past max on max oversize or anything like that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hello , I'm pretty new to this but have posted once before , which was a great success and i appreciated it allot, so here i go again ..... I just got my TZR 50 back on the road today, However after about an hour of running fine , it lost all power and wouldnt rev above about 6000rpm , this slowly got worse , no matter what gear she was in it just wouldnt rev above 3000 rpm just before pulling in home . There is plenty of compression in the cylinder and the plug has a good spark. After coming home and leaving the bike to "cool" down it would again rev up to about 6000rpm but no higher ( was reving right up to 10000 rpm before ) Its annoying that t…

Silly/simple question but I just wanted to make sure I put back my xs400 exactly as it was ... There was a ground wire with a circle ended terminal, which was placed where the left side of the battery box is screwed in. When i took it apart, the battery box screws had metal washers. I was just curious on where exactly those washers went, as i forgot. I forget if the washer on the left side was placed on bottom after the ground (maybe to help ensure good contact with ground wire), or on top to go along with top of the bolt screw (i guess both sides have same setup with washers but forget). So basically just curious on the order to put it back together. A. put the …

hi all iv been looking at the rear suspension setup on me dragster bobber and wouldnt mind lowering the rear shocks ( finding it hard to find new smaller shocks!! ) and came up with the idea of using the rear wheal spindle as a hook up point for the rear shocks (if you get what i mean.) im thinking of making a new spindle out of some studding then put a steal tube over to get it to the right thickness sort of like a bush, if i make the new one longer then il be able to mount the shocks to it, but i need to know if it would be safe to do this? in theory it would all work fine as the spindle just holds the wheel to the swingarm but saying that there is allot of pulling powe…

  13. Hi, I am writing from Bangladesh. I am having some trouble with my 2500+ KM old Yamaha YZF R15. I have also taken my bike to the local Yamaha Dealership/Service Center. However, they could not pinpoint the problem. Therefore, I am seeking for some opinion/insight from your end. Below goes the symptoms I face with my bike: a. Idle RPM is wrong. It fell to the range of 1200-1400. Had it adjusted back to 1300-1500, but, still during the first 5-7 minutes it fluctuates a bit. b. Bike stalls while decelerating, pulling in the clutch..no matter if i downshift at the same time or not. c. This happens mostly in case of high speed runs, if i pull in the clutch and release…

Oye! I'm going to be replacing the caps when they arrive. I purchased NGK 5k resistance. Was wondering if anyone had any advice on removing the old and replacing them with the new. Are the wire's just screwed into the cap, sort of like when using electrical caps to join two wires together?

  15. 300 miles in my bike overheats and cuts out, I let it cool down and it restarts great and I get it home. Following day I start riding it the 8 miles to the workshop to get it looked at and it completely dies and won't restart. Local workshop has took it apart today and has told me something similar to the piston has smahed a hole in something, like a bullet hole which as a result has damaged other parts and will require new parts and an engine rebuild (debris is in the lower engine) The parts I can remember he said I need are as follows: Con rod shaft Piston rings Engine rebuild - £180 flat fee Bearings Re-bore Tailpipe to end pipe rubber (this is missing…

Bought an early DT125R 1989 about a year ago as previous owner said that it cut out once on a journey and he hadn't looked at in 5 years. Hmmmmm..... Anyway, decided to restore this beauty back to its original glory as well as get me my bike license. Good intentions. This bike has been a labour of love & cost me a fortune! Smokie engine so replaced the worn old engine with a de-restricted mint one. However, after the engine warms up and is put through paces, it cuts out again. so replaced HT lead. Still cut out. The bike starts and idles fine, but when its ridden for a few miles, the engine bogs down ( you can hear and feel it going flat) and cuts out. As if when i…

Hi all, my son has got a 1986 DT 50 MX. He was out for a spin when the engine started loosing power and died on him, he noticed that he had no 2 stroke oil left in the tank(numpty) and pushed the bike home. I have had a look at it topped up with oil, bled it through but the bike wont start. Looking on futher got a good spark from the plug but after kicking for a while there seems to be no fuel going to the engine. I have stripped the carb and reassembled it. No blockages and fuel runs into it ok. Tried to bump it and still the plug is dry. Any help would be great. Thanks Dave. Yes he is a plonker.

  20. Hi guys, got a technical question for you.... I've got a 33BHP restricted 650 Dragstar, and I've been thinking of putting after market pipes on it to get rid of that standard whisper it makes with the factory pipes and get it more umph. Spoke to someone today about it, and they said because it's 33BHP restricted, I should wait until I can unrestrict it before changing the pipes because "it'll mess with it". I've been looking at some pipes on eBay previous to this, and messaged the guy asking if I need to re-jet the carbs to put them on, and he said he didn't and no problems, so probably no need. Will this change because my bike is restricted to 33BHP? And why? Ca…
