Hi there, Ive got a 87-88 Fzr 1000 import that i am currently trying to re-build into a street fighter. the problem im having is getting it to start! we have replaced the solinoid, the battery, checked all fuzes, the starter switch and no luck! all the lights and electrical parts work such as horn and dash lights but no action when i press the starter switch part from the oil light on the dast comes on! tried bumping and nothing! Please can somone help as we have no idea! Many thanks

Ugh, bike is a 94 xj600/seca/diversion/whatever. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and it was perfect, put about 200 miles on it since buying. Went out to start it yesterday before work and it will not idle for shit! I pull the choke and it will idle ok, around 2,500 or so, but as soon as I turn the choke off it dies. Try to start it and nothing. In the rare event I can even get it to start without choke it will idle super rough around 600 rpms and sputter until it dies. Even if I let it warm up beforehand. Hi guys im glad i found this site was readin a few topics and then joined i blew my head gasket on my dt and replaced it i stripped the whole bike down and rebuilt it but when i start it it just revs what could that be the slide in the carb that doesnt close because it is the wrong way or could it be something els and what spark plug should i use and when i tried to start it again i wont start i started it a few time while reving high and turned it off but it wont start again

Hi all, Maybe a quick introduction. Im new to both motorcycles and computers so this is going to be interesting! A few months back was handed the key to a 1972 yamaha ct 175 which an old guy rescued from being thrown out and stored under his home for 10 yrs. (actually cost me a case of beer...) Thought this would make a nice project and have good memories of a dt175 from about 20 yrs ago which my brother had and i got to ride a couple of times. Problem is i cant get it to fire. Have tried a few things over the last few months from cleaning the carbie, changing plugs, checked timing(static), changed air filter etc. My best guess is that the spark is too we…

ok so i went to work on my perfectly running fzr1000 exup got a bit board at work so i decided to wash my bike finished work five hours later got on the bike and only three cylinders kickin in,goes down the shops and gets some red x still only three cylinders can anyone help

Hii im new to the forum errmm wel i hav two problems, 1 my headlight doesnt work, is it pose to work off of the battery or only wen bike is runnin? and 2 the battery drains wivin half an hour of charging, is this beause theres a shot sumwher thats drainin it or that the battery is kknackerd ? thanks, awaitin peoples replys

Hi Folks, Being new to this forum, I see that a lot of very good people a working on bikes all over the world. Hence, I need HELP! I have a Yamaha TDR125 3SH (Italia?) Frame No. 001583 3SH, engine No. 001611 3SH. It's probably a UK import from 1990. I got the bike in several boxes probably a year ago, and have been doing my best to get the bike back on its wheels. So far all is good. I have it all wired up, but when is use the kickstart, I get no spark at the plug. The indicator lights are working and the switch for the side stand works as is the oil level switch. Any ideas are welcome at this stage. I have tried a new spark plug and have tried…

Has anyone tried or does anyone know if it is possible to overbore an xs500 by 7mm and use the 80mm pistons say from an xs-1 overbore kit to change the overall size of the xs500 from 498ccm to 598ccm. with the DOHC's and some aftermarket intake and exhaust this might be kind of fun. Hi, Help please, My 89 ypvs has started vibrating through the handlebars grips, fingers are tingling after a day out, I cant see anything out of the ordinary, the tyres are good, as are the head bearings and forks, l just cant figure out what is the cause.

The bike generally runs fine & smooth when accelerating & decelerating , but when travelling in traffic and sticking to a speed limit of 30 or 40 miles per hour the revs seem to fluctuate very slightly ,so you get this uneven sort of power delivery , could it be fuel a problem ? Has ayone got any ideas please

Apologies for the newbie post, tho i feel I'll be back here often! Got a 2001 SR125, with a jumpy speedo. Works fine to 50mph, then jumps around above and below said speed 'til it gets some rest. Checked speedometer, and cable, greased the latter and no problems with it. Found the speedo drive is knackered, teeth are worn down, needs a dentist. Bought a second-hander from "startright.co.uk", but its input is 2-prongs instead of the 3-prong on my front wheel, and doesn't even have a toothed wheel, so, incompatible. Does anyone know a good 2nd hand place where I can get a 3-prong'er, or a 2-prong driver on the wheel-side? Many thanks! James

Hay guys, so I recently bought this Yammy CT-1 (from '72 I believe), seller said it used to run, but died cause o' no spark. Stripped it down, and I'm down to the stator... any way to check if it works or not? He also included a coil... I have NO idea here it bolts or where it connects to the stator (coil has only two wires coming out of it - one for the spark plug, and one loose black connector... to ??) If anyone needs pics of anything specific, just ask! THANKS~

Hello All, Thanks in part to everyone on this forum my 1980 XS400 is running strong. Now that I have the mechanical issues figured out I need to work on the electrical system. The biggest problem is that after riding the bike for only about 30 minutes the batter begins to die and it becomes hard to start with the electric start. I am fairly confident the issue lies in the alternator. When I put the engine at 2000 rpm and measure the voltage across the battery terminals I typically see it jump to about 12.8 volts, but never higher. To me, this implies that the alternator is not performing properly. What steps should I take to troubleshoot the alternator? …

need some advise ... my other half was beaten off his 1200 bandit (not his fault a car pulled out of a junction) he is claiming off the other partys insurance. the bike has been looked at by the insurance blokes but on looking at the exhaust which is dented they have peeled off the sticker that coveres the NOT in NOT FOR ROAD USE stamp does that mean he isnt going to get any pay out? the bike was bought from the dealer with the can on it and it is not declared on his insurance.he is really worried that hes gunna have a knackered foot and no bike and no money to show for it! advse please!!!

Hya folks, another query for the guru's My 1982 (Import 1st registered in UK 1988) is in need of new fork seals. Problem is, I cant find the sizes in any of the parts manuals which I have ? Does anyone have the sizes ? If not, where I could find out ? I have had the vernier caliper on the stanchion and as far as I can be, I'm sure they measure 32mm. I have seen various seals for sale on Ebay but none of this size ! 33mm,42mm & some with no sizes listed at all ! just a listing for all SR's 1980 to 1994 ? Has anyone got a definitive answer ? I have a Virago cruiser to help with arthritis in the hip but would like to extend the foot controls a few inches further forward as I'm told reprofiling of the seat backwards is not an option. Anyone have an idea if such an extension kit exists and if so where available?

Can any one tell me a part No. or make/model for the 4 pole plug & socket used to connect the O2 sensor to the loom on a XVS1300? I want to build the part for the sensor mod but cant find the connectors (825 ohmn resistor in the ground wire, white one) Thanks...
