Hi guys, New to this forum...my name is Jesse, I own an automotive shop in B.C., canada. Love this group, I own a few Yamaha's and this has been a great place to browse around and read up on all sorts of topics. Anyways, my question is this...does anybody know what the compression numbers should be on a DT175C? I've recently acquired one and can't find the numbers anywhere Thanks in advance for the help.

Electrics isn't my favorite subject, so after doing some reading i think that the coils on this electric motor are open circuit. Although this doesn't seem right to me because i thought that a coil needed a circuit for the electricity to pass through and create the magnetic field . Can anyone tell me if this is correct and the windings are only connected at one end? Or if not, then where the other end connects too?

Hi, Which oil should i buy? I need some 2 stroke oil and some engine oil for a 93 DT50. Also, my gearbox is pretty clunky and sometimes seems stiff and doesnt go into neutral very well. Could this be due to bad/no gearbox oil? How do i check the gearbox oil? Thanks in advance

hi, Ive got a dt50 with a broken tail light. The stop light is fine but they are both the same bulb. I was looking on ebay for a new one and saw the 24 LED ones (6v as my bike is a 1993), and just wondered if they are worth the £4 extra? Has anybody got any of these, what do you think? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/24-led-red-stop-and-tail-light-bulb-6v-/150486906751?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2309b7f77f my bike: But ive now repainted the forks and fitted new gaitors. Also just bought some chrome mirrors Cheers, Ryan.

I have just recently purchased a Yamaha MBK Nitro (Same as Aerox) 100cc 2 stroke. It has new carb, piston, airfilter, a racing exhaust, new drive belt and i am not sure if the rollers are new but i think they are 12 grams. Theres not a problem starting her. Starts first time! Kick and electric. When pulling away she is REALLY slow until she gets into the second gear then she pulls away nicely It is at about 3000 rpm vibrations start and pulling away is difficult. I need help to try and resolve this problem as it is doing my head in and obviously going to be p*ssing other motorists on the road especial ones behind me. Could the reason be that the new pi…

I'm another new forum member. I left my Aerox 100 standing during the Christmas period. When I tried to start it in 2 weeks time - it started only for about 10 sec and then cut off! I decided to do the usual thing as before - took the spark plug out wiped it off, it started- the fuel tank was empty, so I went to the garage to put some fuel. Up to the brim... I left it running while I washed all the salt accumulated on the bike the last 2 winter months. Next morning it started after 2 min kick starting it. It run a bit rough and lumpy. After work started and I left it idling for about 2 min. When I went to set off, I opened the THROTTLE and it cut off. It's bee…

hey, I'm pretty new to motorcycles, I bought a 1981 xs400 about 2 months ago, Since then have done some minor work to it (replaced fuse box, painted gas tank and side panels, re upholster seat) but nothing major. The day i bought it i rode it back from where i bought it(about 65 miles) and had no problems, Since then i ride it to work each day except rainy days. About three weeks ago the battery died but i just started using the kick start and it worked fine. Then About two weeks ago i took the seat off to start reupholstering the seat and repainting the gas tank, i did it off and on after work and such which is what took so long. Anyways, after finishing the tank and rem…

My '82 seca 650 starts fine, charges fine, and runs like a champ for the first 4 miles or so, then starts to stutter / stammer / fall down and then seems like it's running on 2 cylinders. After it comes out of it's hesitation mode, it seems to run fine. Can anyone troubleshoot this problem for me? Is it the coils, maybe? Any help is appreciated....

I am afraid that I only have a Haynes manual which does not describe the area that I am looking at on my daughters bike. It is the 1982 electric start version and there appears to be a breather tube running from a location under the transmission cover, adjacent to the starter motor to below and outside the cover, approx 6cm forward of the drain plug.. Firstly, what is the pipe (is it a breather for the transmission case) Secondly, what may be the reason for the transmission fluid constantly leaking from the pipe when the bike is shut down? - I am certain that the leak is from the pipe and no adjacent gaskets or seals.

I wanted to just test and see if my turn signal flasher unit on my 78 XS400 is getting the power it needs. I was reading about voltage drop testing ... How can I voltage drop test this device? ... Do you have to cut into the wire going into it and out of it to measure it, or can you somehow do it without cutting into the wires (i assume so)? Thanks for any advice

I just finished getting an 81 DT175 running. After it sat overnight, I noticed a little gas running out of the carb's overflow tube. (a 1" drip area on the floor, not much) I replaced the floatbowl needle. Could it be a faulty needle or do I need to check the floatbowl level? Also, how do you clean the white plastic fenders. They are stained, and I do not want to damage the surface. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi all. Took the battery off my 91 FZR 600 today to charge it after having problems getting it to run. I had to fill it up as it was empty, the dealer who sold me the bike in March put a new battery on it. I've also noticed that when the bike's running with the lights off, the rev counter behaves itself while with the lights on, the rev counter is erratic. There was a little corrosion around the + terminal as well which I've cleaned and copper greased. Could these problems be caused by a faulty rectifier? TIA Steve
