Hi Folks, Just bought ourselves this XJ400. I knew when I bout it that it was a Japanese import but also thought that I would be able to pick up parts for it as it was a common model. Seems I was wrong. Very little listing of it. Does anyone know where to get parts? Or who can give a bit more insight in to similar models that will fit? Most searches come up with the XJ 400 being a twin. We are especially after an exhaust system.

hi was out riding yesterday and i saw some horses so i pulled the clutch in to sort of coast past them not to scare them as soon as i got back on the throttle the bike popped from the exhaust and hesitated it stopped then further up the road only about 300 yds it did it again but stalled i thought it had just flooded so we left it tried bumping it etc cleaned the plug the usual stuff but i never got it started havent tried it this morning but will do soon just wondered if any of you guys knew what the problem could be cheers webi

i am attempting to fit the correct twin cable throttle to my bike ive fitted the lowest cable to the carb the upper one doesnt seem to have enough slack on the inner cable to enable it to sit in the groove what am i doing wrong?

Just got a 83 virago xv500 and it has no spark, the wires are hot all the time going to the coil..New plugs and everything else has juice....Any ideas??

My tzr had a full engine rebuild a few months ago and has been running fine up until recently. An oil leak developed around a month ago and while trying to find time to fix the leak i have been topping up the 2 stroke as required. Around 2 weeks ago the bike suddenly started Stuttering at around 7000-8000rpm and from 9000-10000rpm. This was tolerable at first but has became gradually worse to the point where the bike is borderline unrideable. Any suggestions on the cause and how to rectify the problem would be much appreciated. Hi There, I was riding my Yamaha TW125 at about 50 miles per hour when the engine suddenly lost power and cut out. I have checked the fuses, fuel and spark plug. All the electrics works and the spark is fine but the bike shows no sign of life at all. The starter motor is turning over but the engine is not firing at all. Any clues???

The clutch lever for my 1999 xj600N is a bit bent and i find it really hard to reach when i change gear. i thougt it was because i had girly hands but even my mates reckon it shouldnt be that far out. i bit the bullet and bought a new lever but it is still the same distance away. everything is as standard on the bike as far as i know looking at the manual...is this a common problem? does anyone have any suggestions how to remedy this?

This is my first as hava only just purchased my Yamaaha xt125r. As its my first bike and my experience of bikes is somewhat little, I am still getting to grips with it. It has been running fine up until now however, today when i took the bike out, the petrol light started blinking so i decided to fill up. I continued on my journey only to find the bike slightly stuttering, when i stopped i realised that petrol was dripping out of a small tube coming from the engine. On my way home the petrol light came on again! Can anyone help me??

Ok here is the problem! I have this bike it's an radian 600 i bought everything new for it. the problem is it will start cold and run perfect and once it has been running for a bit the bike will not start, i loose spark for some reason, i will wait till the next day and it will start again. This is driving me nuts. Any sugestions.

Dear All, In an ongoing quest to get my bike on the road and to sit my CBT - I cannot seem to get my "Daisy" to tick-over properly. She often seems to have an erratic tick-over - even when warm. My Dad and I work on the bike - and I am asking the question. The Idle Screw is in good condition - but there are a few flat spots on the diameter after the point on the front. Would this lead to the problems I am having adjusting the idle speed. With the Idle screw wound in full the bike revs at about 2000 rpm when winding it out it just seems to suddenly drop down to stall. Sometimes just wiggling the screw causes it to alter the speed. I cant seem to find a …

My 96 YZF600R has a ticking sound coming from the engine. It's loudest when the bike hits 4000rpm through 4500-5000 and when decelerating using the engine as a brake. It seems to quiet after 5000rpm, but it may just be the engine rev is drowning it out. The bike runs great, and pulls hard. I just don't want this to become a big problem later. It has ~20000 miles. Any ideas what it might be? Solutions? Thanks

Hey Guys, I was taking my spark plug out to read what color it was after having it running for a few minutes ... and when i pull the plug out, I see some smoke lightly come out for next minute or so... just a light white smoke gently streaming out. But I never seen anything ever come out of the plug hole when I took out my plugs to read them (and Ive done this about a 100 times). Just curious what it could mean ... I probably still have some SeaFoam left in the gas if you think it could be SeaFoam 'burning' off hehe. -Arian

Hi all - just having a problem with my xt125. The bike normaly starts right up with no problems, was using it the day before yesterday and it started and ran fine. But today i tried to start it on its side stand and the starter motor just 'clicked', as if the engine was seized. I tried pushing on the kick-start with my hand, and the engine would still not turn over. (The bike was in neutral - just to rule that out). I got the bike off its side stand and moved it back and forth, eventually it fired right up. This has happened to me once before, earlier this week when went to take the bike for its MOT. I have recently bought a 1997 RXS 100. It was running fine when I got it and then it started having trouble with the engine, which I think is to do with flooding or perhaps a clogged spark plug (one of neighbours who has a bike told me this) he said he'd come round and help me take out the spark plug to clean it and so yesterday I looked in my toolkit to see if I had a spanner which would fit the spark plug and in the process attempted to remove the black cap on the spark plug (I don't know what this is called but I assume it is called the spark plug cap?) which attaches to the ignition coil. not knowing how to do this I simply pulled it off and I think I have damaged the…

This bike is in excellent condition. Has had a complete tune up (plug,points and cond.,filters,fluids)and runs fine, except that it always stalls after the first few minutes of running. It will sometimes restart with the choke on or will only start after a spray of starting fluid in the cylinder. After that it will run and restart all day without problems. The stalling has no bearing on the amount of warmup time or temperatures. Any suggestions please?

Please help me. I got a bad tank of gas. Took it for repair. Got a new fuel filter, spark plugs and cleaned the carb. Now the bike will only start with the choke on. I ran it for 5 minutes, turned the choke off and the bike off. Tried to start it with no choke and it will not start. Also, when I start with the choke on, when I turn the choke off, the bike dies. Before all this......It would really backfire upon downshifting and holding the clutch in. Someone had put Vance and Hines pipes on it before I bought it from the used bike dealer. What do you think it going on?? 2007 Yamaha with 4200 miles.

hi getting ac from stator connectors changed r/r still not charging battery wont change when revved stays 12.5 ish on voltmeter rectifier getting voltage as it gets hot noticed yellow fuse melted is it a easy fix cheers ian
