I have a 2001 aerox, it had a the pm tuning 70 cc kit, pm tuning full circle crank, 21 mm carb, and a few other things. The other day i was just riding down the road and it snapped a brand new drive belt any ideas why ? all i can think of is inperfections in the belt, or simply it couldnt cope with the power of the 70 kit so i bought my self a hebo belt and it has now ruined my variator, melted every roller, there was no warning for this happening just a sudden loss of power whist doing this it hqas rounded all the splines in variator and made the hole more of an oval, the variator is older than all the parts but it was a dopler one and it had just had new rollers any i…

hi there i have an aerox 50 and it jusr wont run properly its getting through a spark plug every 2-3 weeks and keeps breaking down on me it has had practically a full engine re-build and it still isn't running properly =/ i have been told a few things that it may be such as that the carb is set up wrong, the jet has worn out (so i've ordered a new one from my local yamaha specialist) or that the carb has done its time and now needs changing but i dont know what size carb it has. So does anybody have any usggestions on what the problems and solutions may be?

Hi Guys, I had to admit defeat with my latest project and ask on here for help. I bought a DT125R 2002 model with a siezed top end, luckily the previous owner had sleeved it so it was a quick rebore and piston to match, top end gasket kit and away i thought it would go, however when i kick the bike up, it takes a while to start, then when it does go it sounds very boggy and hasn't got the "ting ting" like a 2 stroke should have and as soon as i touch the throttle it dies. I'm a competent 2 stroke mechanic, i've eliminated all the usual suspects. Replaced the carb Cleaned the carb New plug Cleaned the airbox Fresh fuel etc..etc.. I noticed on this model, the car…

I have recently aquired a SR125 1993 & have a problem with it, sometimes it seems asthough it will lose power & just sputter & backfire when given some throttle, although will idle fine, its as if something is sticking, then after a while it clears itself & runs fine for a while then it will happen again, we have taken the carb apart & that is clean with all jets clean, replaced the fuel tap & pipe & spark plug. But still no joy. Should I now consider taking the head off & checking valves etc. I have taken a photo of the removed spark plug, as a complete newbie please be gentle. thanks http://www.flickr.com/photos/52004648@N02/4790885422/

  8. This is my first post and I appreciate, in advance, all the help! So I have a 77 Chappy LB80. The complaint is that it will cut out intermittently at idle, when taking off in drive (at any degree of throttle), or will cut out at speed when using full throttle. If I am lucky it will only bog and then accelerate (this is when I am already at speed) when using full throttle. So far I have rebuilt the carburetor (gaskets, float needle, float adjustment, and cleaning), replaced the valve and filter gaskets in the petcock, cleaned the fuel lines petcock and gas tank (several times due to fuel contamination), and replaced the vacuum line going from the petcock to the …

My son (lets blame someone else...) filled our Yamaha YBR125 (2008) up and put the petrol filler cap back on incorrectly, in that there is an arrow on the cap that is supposed to point forward. Instead the arrow points at about 8 o'clock. The result is that now we cannot get the cap off with the key. They key turns but the cap does not come off. Is it a matter of brute force and ignorance or has anyone any advice?

Hi there, I am a complete newbie to this. I have had a look through some other posts but nothing quite matches my issue. I have had my Yamaha SR125 (Y reg) in the garage for a couple of weeks and got it out to poodle off to work this morning. It took ages to start. Almost as if it thought it wasn't in Neutral or if the stand is down. i.e.it turned but didn't even fire. Anyway, I bumbed it about a bit and took it in and out of neutral and eventually (like only about 5mins) it started as always. So, I rode the 2miles to work. All good. It was revving quite a lot though. But I wanted to give it some welly anyway to 'wake it up'. I got to work and parked. Stall…

  11. So I just got a 1982 Yamaha Chappy, the 50cc one I believe, but it had been sitting in the back of a garage for many years and it no longer has a key for the ignition. So I hop on ebay and start looking but every new switch I find has 5 wires not four like the one that is on my bike. What is the different and will this work on my bike? If you need more info I can post it. Also I am not exactly sure what all its going to need to get it running so a kind of check list would be nice. I know it'll need a battery, gas, new spark plug, and a lot of wires. Most of them got eaten. Anything else? Thanks!

Hello, My 1980 Yamaha XS400 has a vacuum activated petcock. The vacuum line connects the petcock to the intake manifold. The vacuum line keeps undoing itself when I run the engine. I keep the bike stationary and idle the engine and over time (about 15 seconds) the vacuum line on the petcock end completely removes itself from the petcock nipple. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this? If it helps, my intake boots are cracked and there is probably not a god seal (I have new ones coming in the mail). Thanks, Adam

  13. So my first question of my xs400 engine disassemble is that when i was taking off the oil pan, it seemed like previous person tightened the oil pan way too tight. the screws mostly made a snap sound right when i got them to loosen up, the kinda sound as if I was tightened it too much and screw breaks inside (but Im pretty sure I was untightening counterclockwise as they did thread out easily right after I got it 'loose')... Anyway, 3 of the 6 screws broke off in the hole ( and the other 3 looked like they were about to break in the middle of the screw). the oil pan doesnt come off, i guess maybe cause the screws inside are holding the pan to the engine still maybe (i…

Hi, newbie here. Got a '93 Divvy 3 months ago. Lovin' it but rear tyre is so old school skinny (130) Is there an 18" Yam rear wheel out there that would fit AND wear up to a 200mm tyre? There's room,I measured it - just need a wheel suggestion. Anyone? Cheers, B B McGraw

TZR 50 2 Stroke 50cc Iv just got some new forks after an accident involving gravel on the road . While the bike was in the Garage I ran Redex through the system to clean it out ( loads of black crap came out the exhaust ). However the bike will no longer start under the starter motor ( used to be fine before ) and needs bump starting ..... the engine runs for a few seconds before dying completely and needs bumping again ( Still has a good 3-4 L in the tank ) I really cant figure out what is wrong and was looking forward to being back on the road again Any help appreciated Many Thanks Jordan Baxter [email protected]

Does anyone know where I can get some bar end weights that are heavy stainless steel? All the ones I can find online seem to be aluminium and rubber mounted, which seems to defeat the purpose. I have a 1998 XJ600N and the weights have been replaced with Motrax DHB crash bobbins and I am getting a lot of right hand vibration, causing pins and needles. The only heavyweight ones I have found only seem to fit certain of the faster Yamahas. Thanks
