My Virago 535 now struggles to go above 55mph recently - although there is still at least a third of the throttle left going to full throttle makes no difference - if anything the motor feels flat on full throttle and winding it back it seems more responsive. Can anyone help re what causing this please?

hello can anyone show me a website where i can get my hands on some mini 12volt switches to use for some custom switchgear for my xvs 125 bobber? the idea is to replace the big bulky switchgear for something minimalistic, so im hiding all the wiers in the bars and making it look like it has no switches at all! but im having trouble finding the switches i need they need to be able to handle the electrics but be as small as possible. maplin was no help and e-bay was rubbish . cheers. .Paul.

Ok, have an 1981 XS400 special II, new battery, new plugs...starter motor won't turn much. When I kick it, it'll roll normally, but the electric start makes a razzing noise, even when jumped with a pack. Held the kick out and hit the start button, it moves about an inch and stops. Time for a new starter?? Or are they fairly easy to rebuild for a novice? Or should I have the starter professionally rebuilt??

Good evening to you all, I have just joined the club to hopefully gain some much needed knowledge about my YP 250 Majesty, the bike is a 1998 and up till last week was a sound bike, and wrapped around Last Friday on my way home from London my drive belt snapped and disintigrated, it took all the fins off the front pulley, I have replaced the belt but now the bike struggles to pull away, it seems like the bike is in top gear rather than the lower gearing, I know that there are no gears so to speak but that is the way it seems, Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be, the bike was running spot on before the belt snapped, Help Please! Cheers Puddsy

on the '89 xj600 pr-divvy is there more than 1 type of regulator/rectifier that will fit and work ? the 1 fitted to mine has no fins its the 1 thats oblong filled with black resin and bolted to a alloy plate under the left side panel and has a 4 pin plug 3 white and 1 red cables. Battery went flat a few weeks ago so i recharged and a few days later went flat again mmmm so got the meter out and put it across the battery and it gives 14v at tickover but put the lights on or touch any other electical switch horn/brake lights and it dives to 11.5v, switch lights off and it takes 4-5 mins to slowly creep back up above 12v. i disconnected the plug at the rectifier and metered…

Bike Model: 2006 DT125R SM OK since I have bough the bike I haven't got a chance to ride it, been working everyday etc. So it's just been sitting covered out the back of the house. A good thing too, as I noticed it is leaking oil, just a small amount over the period of 3 days so far. The oil is black, so I'm assuming it's 2 stroke / engine oil thats leaking somewhere. I'm off again on thursday so will try and see where it is coming from. Q1. Are there any common oil leak problems with the DT125? Q2. Am I right in assuming that the 2 stroke oil is used as engine oil as well as being used to mix with the fuel? Also is it possible to drain the 2 stroke oil? I wan…

I picked up a 1999 YZF600 Thundercat at the weekend but I need to tweek the suspension, rather than dampening the bumps it just wanted to bounce the wheels off the road so I presume its just a bit stiff and needs softening up. Is this an easy thing to do? If so, what tools would I need? Also please bear in mind that I do not have a garage!!

Hi All, My 2002 FZS600 (foxeye)has started to get a small noise from the top end which i thought was the valves, I had a mechanic come and listen but he said it sounded like it was the cam chain and that i probable need a new tensioner. The bike has only done approx 27000 miles on a general 60 mile round commute, is this normal for the tension to need replacing at this milage and also when should i condider getting the cam chain changed. Finally does anyone know where i can get one from as other than yamaha? and is it a big job to change the tensioner? Cheers Stu

The indicator switch on my XVS125 is really stiff when I try to turn off the indicators and I always have to check the indicator light under the speedo that the indicators are turned off. Do I need to take the switch apart to clean it or is there any other way to deal with the problem? If I need to take it apart, please could someone tell me how to do it? There is nothing about it in the manual. Thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone Have just became a member on this site after buying a FZR Genesis 600. I've not long passed my test but have been into bikes for years. The bike is a bit rough so have decided to 'rat' it. I'm not keen on the drop bars and would like to fit some strait ones (do away with the fairing) can anyone suggest what bars, yokes would fit (its a F reg) if you could also comment on how easy it is to do would be much appreciated. Sorry if i have upset any traditionalist with changing the look of a FZR.

Hi New member, 1st post, seeking advice!! I have a '91 TDM 850 (but guess this could apply to any bike). Bike is running rich and I need to sort that. Got new exhaust downpipes and after getting the old ones off, the outlet ports are extremely sooty. Other than taking the head off and cleaning whole thing out, any advice on best way to clean these up a bit before I fit new pipes? Any ideas, tips greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peter
