My DT175 has a hard time staying at a constant idle. I checked to see if the cable was caught anywhere. It doesn't change when I move the bars back and forth. The throttle slide has a indention where it hits the throttle adjuster. Could this be causing the problem? Also it takes a looong time to warm up. It dies at idle until it is good and warmed up. No problem starting. Is this common with the dt175? Thanks

Hi again folks, after long and sometimes "painful" hours getting this little Yam ready for the road, I booked it in for an M.O.T. this afternoon. Having only had the bike in first gear to ride it round the garden, imagine my dismay to find, that as I set off from my drive on the way to the test station, (in the pouring rain naturally) I could only select first gear !! OK, I know, I should have tried selecting ALL the gears before this but I had no reason to suspect a dodgy gearbox as the previous owner had regailed me with tales of derring do and trips from Lowestoft to Arcnamurnum? point ! & Lands End & John o Groats ! He also used it every day for work,…

Hi, new member here. My current project is very much Yamaha related, although it's a special. It all started with a YPVS350LC engine that has been slightly tuned. Had it sitting around for a while and finally decided to find a new home for it. To make a long story short, I decided to put it into a TZR-250 3MA frame, which it went into without too much fuss. The search for more modern bodywork lead me to the YZF-R125 as it it both modern and slim. Again, with a bit of fitting work it went on pretty easily. There is still loads to do and you can see the progress here: Build blog However, I do have a request for help. I am using the original clocks and speedo…

Ok, so I let the Oil get too low... Now I need a new/replacement Exhaust Valve and Tappet - anyone got one or where I could get one cheaper than the £60 they want off ebay? The Tappet has Mushroomed and the top of the Valve Stem is so badly damaged the split collects are proving difficult to remove... Cylinder head is currently off and waiting for parts... Emmi

Hi Guys. Wonder if you can help me out? Bought an XV750, as mentioned in previous posts, and it conked out on the way home after 30 miles. Green flag obliged and I cleaned out the concrete-like blockages from all of the jets, bowl etc and managed to run it intermittently sometimes on one cylinder. Forked out £160 to have the carbs rejetted, cleaned etc and it ran fine for a few miles then started chugging. Checked the plugs and they were choked up with carbon preventing sparking. Cleaned and started resetting pilot jets and running in between until I had them turned out 3 and a half turns. Still fouling! Did that paper test thingy on the remote Mixture Control Valve. No v…

As title, but I want to know was the old plug looking alright. I know you can tell a lot from how the spark plug looks.. So I took a few pictures. Also I don't have a torque wrench so just tightened it by hand and then put a half turn on it with a normal wrench. Hows that old plug looking?

The 5A fuse for the YPVS keeps blowing on my RD350 YPVS FII. The Fuse blows once its placed in the fuse carrier even without the engine starting but ignition on. I suspect overcharging of the battery as my battery dried up once before. Can anybody offer help on this? Cheers

Hi again ive just redone the top end on my dt50. I did all new barrel, rings, piston, pin and circlips. I also did the studs and gaskets. I used my old head gasket that didnt seem too bad and made a base basket out of a cereal box. Not ideal i know, but somebody sent me the wrong gaskets for my bike and so i couldnt help being eager once id got my piston kit and went ahead fitting it anyway Anyway, i realised that my auto oil system wasnt working and so i disconnected it all and pre-mixed. I mixed 100ml with around 5 litres of petrol. Now, when i kick it it doesnt start. I have cleaned the carb, lubed the throttle slide inside the carb and blew through everythi…

Hi, I came to check the oil level on my 400 virago yesterday. Only to find the filler cap doesn't have a dipstick attached, and I cannot see a viewing window. I was just wondering if anyone could point the obvious out of how I check the level Thank you

Hey everyone, this is my first post and I'm hoping someone here can help. I blew the ignition fuse on the motorway then replaced it but ever since my tach has been jumping to 8K then to 0 then back to normal RPM. I know this code states it's a problem with the fuel sensor however the fuel sensor is fine. I have a feeling whatever cause the fuse to blow is also causing the tach code. I have the service manual which had aided me in testing a lot of items but I'm getting stumped. I haven't tested the connectors while they are plugged in but it would seem strange if that was the problem. I'm thinking there's a short, a loose grounding wire or ???. I haven't ridden the …

My Vstar950 has done about 15,000 miles; very reliable I ride it every day. Just recently I have noticed that the idle speed seems high sometimes. It goes to around 2,000 rpm instead of the usual 1,000. It was particularly bad last weekend I went for a ride over the mountains (9,000 feet) it was also a very hot day... whenever I stopped it took several minutes for the idle speed to return to normal. I checked the throttle cable adjustment - I don't think anything is sticking - could there be something wrong with the fuel injectors? There's virtually no information on line about these bikes that I have found, and I am not about to take it to a dealer... Any hel…

Hi... I have purchased an XT125R (2005-07 vintage) in bits and need help assembling... I brought a brand new frame and the picked up the engine, lom and elctrics.... I brought the manual but it assumes that you know where the bits go as you have removed it to repair/replace.... I am looking for an XT125 R owner who is willing to take a few digi pics of where the elctrics (relay, coil, regulator, etc) are fitted to the bike... if you can help can you send me a PM.... I am willing to provide a small financial reward as the bike is for my sone who is nearing 17 and getting keen to ride... Thanks one and all Mark
