Hi all, just got my little baby. The manual (disk) says to keep the bike level whilst checking the oil level.....easier said than done on your own and without a centre stand! Do I `wood block up` the side stand, taking obvious care not to drop it to the right, or is there a safer way to do it? many thanks, mick.

Wiring Diagram required for a 1977/78 DT250 1R7, the regulator has 1 wire, and the main switch has 9 wires,I think the bike is UK spec frame no is 1R7 100803. The diagram that i was given on a link for a 1978 DT250E is not the same, (only has 7 wires on the main switch). Can anyone help. Many thanks Mickj

So, I took the pads out of the R6 earlier, to grease up the slide pin and piston faces etc before winter as I use it year round. The front pads are looking quite a bit worn and battered now, what pads do people recommend? I don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of cash, and the bike is only used on the road.

I've bought a 2001 XJ600N with 11k. When I went to pick it up, the bike jerked & creeped when I put it in gear. Seller did mention that the clutch cable needed replacing, so after attempting further adjustments he offered to replace it. Unfortunately the new cable didn't sort it. A mechanic-friend of the seller opened the clutch & replaced the collapsed thrust bearing. When I finally got to pick th bike up, I had to adjust the clutch again as the bike jerked & stalled. On the ride home gear changes got harder & harder, but I made it. Now I can't get it out of neutral! Adjusting the cable doesn't make a difference, so it looks like something internal. Befor…

Hi, help needed. I'm wondering if any one knows the length (end to end) of the kickstart shaft. I've heard there are two different lengths. Mine is about 116 mm, but is too short and fouls the rear brake lever. Any advice appreciated. Cheers

I got all of my parts in from MikesXS, Vintage Connections, and ebay. Electrical: Started on the burned up wiring harness. Replaced every charred wire, and connector. Connected the fuse block off the ebay SECA harness I bought with an 8 pin connector. This way when it breaks (it's brittle) I can buy a new one from MikesXS, and just plug it in. Went to pods so I rearranged most of the wiring so the connectors are all easily access the plugs for almost everything behind the left side cover. Carbs: As mentioned went with pods (Emgo). Went from 135 main to 137.5, and from 42.5 pilot to 45. Replaced the float valve needles with ones from ebay, but had to remove the cl…

So i'm stupid, sorry. What's the process for removing these type of fork caps. Everywhere I've looked seems to refer to screw caps. It's on a 95 SR250 Yam - the manual I have is for the 80's variety so no help there. Basically there's a dust cap on top of the fork tube then there's a flat cap inside the tube and o-rings (apparently). Well I can see one on the left side that isn't sealed properly. I want to get them out, replace the oil - and not f-ck up my forks. An idiot guide for an idiot would be great. Also any special tools I'll need - not going to replace the fork seals as they seem fine, no seepage. Cheers

I've recently started work on my 45000 mile 350ypvs, I'd like to use it as it is for the odd run out now and again. I'm after a bit of advice regarding the suspension.I have fitted a fazer rear shock to improve the rear suspension and would lke to improve the damping on the front as it's like a pogo even with fresh 15w oil. Is there a mod that can be done to improve the damping without spending too much money or fitting a different front end?. cheers ziggy

Hi All I'm a newbie here. Been meaning to get a bike for years and finally took the plunge this summer (at the age of 36!) and got myself an '05 DT125re. Riding round the streets of London and dying to get out into the country! Unfortunately it's developed a problem i can't fathom out and can't get it to the garage without paying for a van so if any of you with knowledgable heads can help i'd be most grateful. After a weekend left out in the rain I struggled to start the bike and had to bump it. Got it started and rode it 100 yards before it stalled. I had no more problems starting now but it dies as soon as i put it into gear. Thought it might be the clutch but …

Hi, Broke down this morning on the M25, so need some help. I have a 1989 XJ600, as I was going down the motorway I had a couple of miss fires, then about 5 miles later the engine cut out and I lost all electrical power. Got to the hard shoulder and checked the fuses and all ok. After a couple of minutes the neutral came back on and the bike started, started up again and got 300 yards down the road and it happened again. Had to be recovered by the AA. Hope someone can point me in the right direction as to whats wrong. As I say fuses look alright, just need someone to give me a clue before I rip the bike apart tomorrow. Gary

Hi, firstly i must say i`m a bit of a bike novice so apologies if i sound a little thick! I have recently done my CBT and bought a YBR 125, it`s an 08 model and has very low mileage, and has been recently serviced. I had been using it every day for a couple of weeks now, with no problem at all. However two days ago i noticed it started to stall when sat idle. This has since developed into the bike stalling pretty much all the time, even when i`m in motion and giving it throttle, to the point that i can not use it at the moment. It sometimes will not even start and just turns over, then when it eventually fires up it will tick over for a small time before starting to st…

Hello everyone, I'm new to the Yamaha Owner's Club because I've just bought my 'new' Yamaha ;-) Well, it's not 'New', it's a 1991 model, but it's my new baby Please can anyone advise me on where to find parts for it? Apparently it's a pre-diversion. I've searched fleabay and eveything on there seems to be for the diversion or newer. I urgently need a Coil and a CDI unit, were the same ones fitted to any other model? I hope so because it would widen my options a little. Is there anywhere that specialises in pattern parts for old Yams? Or anyone with a head full of usefull info I could pester? Thank you
