Hey all... I'm a newbie here...apologies if I'm posting a question that's been asked and answered...didnt see one though... I recently aquired a '93 FZR 1000, hadn't run in approx a year, had previously run. I drained carbs, drained gas tank, replaced fuel filter, replaced spark plugs, charged battery, tested fuel pump...fuel is getting to the carbs. Oil level is all good. Put fresh gas in the tank (with a little Sea Foam). Starter cranks over, real fast for that matter...but just won't fire the engine...not even a little sputter. Tried with air filter on and off, and with air intake on and off...no difference. Have also tried with choke in every position, and with…

Hello All, This is my first post here, hopefully of many, because I have absolutely no clue what's wrong with my bike. It's got no spark. I checked the ignition coils, spark plugs, and all the switches are working fine. It initially died when I was riding down the road. I wasn't doing anything special, I was at about 5000RPM and it just suddenly cut out, like as though I had hit the kill switch. I couldn't get it restarted and haven't been able to get it started again. Ignition coils are good, step up coil is good, I don't know what else to check. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi everyone, I was doing a bit of greenlaning earlier and on the way back on a main road, i hear a Bang, loud enough to hear over by DEP exhaust and my helmet. Then it sputtered out to nothing and lost all power so i had to walk it back. It has compression and it does run for about 2 seconds before cutting out again. I have read up about it and have an idea on what it might be, but what do you guys think. Thanks G

I'm pretty good with engines etc, but the rerouting of wiring and all that other stuff in the current fairing has me concerned? any pointers?

Hi. New to the forum, was kinda hoping this wouldn't be my first kind of post but needs must. Just bought an XVS 650 with 66k miles on the clock. Been riding it lately and noticed a clunking noise from the rear hub. Mainly hear it when coasting as the pipes are too loud to hear anything when driving. Anyone had similar with these bikes and should I be worried? I'm thinking it could possibly be bearings or drive shaft splines? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Auzz

Hello, been a while since i've been on. got a 1995 Virago 1100. and the fuel pump acted like it went on it so i replaced it and now it does the same thing. here's the problem. first time i turn the key on in the morning the pump primes just fine but after riding the bike for a little while(few miles) the pump slows down till it's almost not pumping at all. i know with a test light i have power to the pump haven't gotten around to checking the voltage to the pump. my shop manual said this thing has a fuel pump controler. do these controlers fail ever? cause this coming sunday i want to take this bike for a 500 mile ride. thank you for any help!

Its been a while since Ive been on here. Ill try to explain this the best I can. Its gonna be a long one. I have been riding my XJ 600 diversion on a 98 plate around for a couple of months now and its been fine up until tuesday this week. I was riding it home from work in the rain and I noticed that it felt sluggish pulling off, but i put this down to the crap british summer and thought no more of it. That was until the next day. It was on its centre stand with the engine running to warm the bike up before I set off for work, and I noticed petrol dripping, on looking further I noticed that the petrol was coming from the overflow pipe on the top of the futhest left carb …

Last year I bought what was described as a "very good condition" 1988 model of the xv250 route 66 rare american import. It was sat in the garage for the good part of last 10 years unused before the owners decided to clear some space. It misfired a few times initially but nothing to raise any serious suspicions - started and ran fine. Approx 4!! month in after running like a clock the problems started - while going 60 or so mph- very specific to this case - the bike would choke as i would open the throttle. Had it serviced - they removed a bucket full of rust from the fuel system - turned out that the bottom of the tank corroded. Then it would run fine for a week or so …

ok so i was out off road, in very wet conditions, on the DT125R a couple weekends ago when it got a wee bit spluttery. I also noticed at the time that the bike had gotten far more smokey than it had been and smelled heavily of fuel/2T. There was also what looked like frothy oily water coming from the crankcase breather. After a couple of drier rides, the bike was running fine again, although still smelled strongly, and was still smoking strongly. The bike was taken home and left for a couple of days, when i went to start it it fired first kick, and settled to idle nicely, although was still smoky. I ran it up the road and seemed a bit hesitant at anything …

I was waitng at the lights today and a PC came over and tapped me on the shoulder.. 'ello, ello...your bikes a bit too noisy!! Eh?, I couldn't hear him...my bikes a bit noisy! my helmet helps drown most of it! Anyway, he was alright about it, but he said I ought to get it a bit quieter! So once i got it home I set about having a look...and listen. With my helmet off, clearly it is a bit on the loud side..... However, it doesn't help that the rubber joining the rear can is a bit perished and loose. Plus there's a small hole in the bend by the engine...have to get the welder out! I also discovered the wool inside the rear can is a bit flakey and …
