  1. Hi all, First post on here and hoping for some help. I purchased a DT125R 2001 Reg off a friend a few months ago and have finally got it insured and on the road. Love the bike however, it seems to be a tad slow, tops out at about 50-55 in the red line of 5th gear. I have 2 questions.... Surely it should go faster than this? And should it not have 6 gears instead of 5? The bikes power valve is set up standard with the keyhole lining up correctly. It has a DEP end can, but standard expansion pipe. It has no reed switch in the speedo but i think this has just been unplugged, not sure if this is the issue as the bike seems to rev well passed 12k and the reed…

  2. I had a bit of spare time, and a few bits lying around so i thought id make my own performance air filter. I simply begrudge spending £90-100+ for a JR, K&N or BMC one, beside, i dont have that amount of money! So with a few bits i had lying around, i decided to make my own. Even if i made a hash of it, all id do is buy a new air filter from yamaha. and heres how i did it.     OK. I just got my first bike. Its a virago xv1100. I have a few queastions 1) guy i got it from said its a 1987 frame but a 1997 engine. This is the numbers on the engine. 1te-003563 where do i find out info on the motor to see what year and full specs on it? 2) I dont have a instrument Panel and all i have is just speedometer. Bought the bike like that. I want to buy a Tachometer but the one from yamaha for my bike runs 400 bucks. Thats outragout. I noticed all the tachometers i see on ebay ony have 2 wires. I know you guys have probably had this enough, a quick Google search brings up plenty of hits relating to people's problems with the gearbox on this thing, but i refuse to believe that a bike that's so well built everywhere else would have a gearbox as bad as it seems right now, and nor do i discount that it is also quite likely rider error (only been riding it two months) basically, my gearbox is getting stubborn, however hard i press the stick, it won't like going from 1st, through neutral, into 2nd. >> I don't have a problem getting it INTO neutral<< the bike seems to like neutral (guess its lazy like me ), recently, the gearbox has been sticking in ne…

    Hi, Seem to have an issue with NEUTRAL. Whenever I am in first and go to second, 7 times out of 10 it keeps going to neutral. This doesn't tend to happen if revs are high. Not sure why this is happening, as I fully engage the clutch and knock the gear lever FULLY up. On the flip side, I struggle to put her into neutral when the bike is stopped. Any ideas?

    As some of you may know from my previous thread and other mentions the speedo on my bike has packed in. The speedo is digital and I have just realised it has my overall milage stored on it. What am I going to do now when my insurance etc ask for my milage? Is it going to make things a very complicated for me for example if I decide to sell the bike?

    I just bought a DT175B (1975) and got it running. The bike does not idle below 3000 rpm and the choke has to be on for it to run. It is also burning a lot of oil. I suspect leaking crankcase seals. Has anyone done this replacement? Could you give me the steps necessary? Also is there a service manual available? Thanks for your help. Oscar

  9. I had bought a 1970 DT1E 250 a few years back and it has sat in my garage since I finally have the time to work on it. The Motor has not run since the late 80's, my thoughts were to remove the old motor and put on something newer, that would have more parts readily available. Any ideas or suggestions as to what motor might fit on this frame? Having to weld motor mounds is not out of the question… I am new to this stuff and seek assistance, please and thank you -Adam

    Afternoon folks My son rides an SR125, 1992 model. He has owned it for about a year now and it seems relatively incident free, with the exception of the CDI Unit. I had to replace this unit about six months ago, after a lot of head scratching and testing of parts I bit the bullet and replaced the CDI. ..Problem solved! A couple of weeks ago he started complaining the bike wasnt running right and had no power. I took it a run and sure enough the bike would struggle under load (the engine, not me). There was also an occasional clatter from the top end. Valve clearances and cam chain checked and adjusted. Plug, cap and lead replaced to no avail. He purchased another CDI fr…

    HI all, if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated. I bought a TZR 125 yesterday, it sounds nice, smells nice, corners nice however, is doesn't accelerate nicely. If I pull off in first gear and give it some, it reaches 6k and I believe that's where the powerband kicks in, when I shift into second, to try and keep the power going, the bike starts to judder and jump as if there isn't enough rev's on (this is the same irrespective of what gear), is it something I'm doing wrong with my shifting or could the engine be lean/rich, I haven't had a chance to check the sparks yet and I'm going to get the chain properly tensioned again later this evening as it is quite…

    I've extended my mirrors, and I think I may have CROSSED THREADED the bolt. Am I correct in saying the RHS mirror, is physically attached the break fluid level clamp? If so, anyone know how much a replacement would be? Cheers. Steve.

    I have a motoplat electronic ignition on my 76 dt 250 I have pushed it up n down the garden n can't get a spark I can't kick it over as I don't have kickstart mechanism anyone know how I can check to see if its the coil or the electronic part that replaced the points thanks

    Hi everyone! I bought my Yamaha XVS Dragstar 125 yesterday. I tried to start it, it made the starting sound as I pressed the start button, but wouldn't start because there was no fuel. Today when I put fuel in, I tried to start it again, but as I pressed the start button... well, nothing, no reaction, like someone cut the cable! Everything else works like the lights etc. I recharged the battery and tried again... still nothing, no reaction. Then I took the tank off, checked all the cables, cleaned the plugs and everything looks fine!   17. so yet again, my xj has decided that tis going to dump all its oil on the pavement underneath it. its getting beyond a joke, im having to top it up every week pretty much. I've taken the airbox out, cleaned it and put in a new filter, changed the oil filter, done several full oil changes and cleaned all the breather pipes and oil hoses and dinna kain what else to do. Bike sits in the bike shed at work, and the security guards having a go at me saying the bike might have to be kept off site if it keeps leaking. anyone got any more suggestions before i ram a bolt up the breather to block the Son of a btich.     Hi! I have TDR 125 2000 and I want to derestrict it. I know for the exaust and inlet manifold restrictions but there is an one electric restriction which retarts revs when they reach 8k. I heard that there is one wire which needs to be grounded, but I can't find it. Can anyone please help! Thanks!

    Hello everyone, I'm regretful that my first post has to be in the technical forum but I really need to get this fixed, so thanks for your time. I am also new to motorcycles and have a very limited knowledge that I hope to improve, so bear with me. Anyway down to the problem, a few days ago I go to start my 09 YBR 125 (fuel injection model) as normal, when I push the ignition switch nothing happens.
