Hi Can anyone tell me if the genuine Yamaha rear hugger for the XJ6FA is a replacement for or an addition to the existing guard fitted as standard? Thanks JP

Hi all. My son has been having a cold start problem with his aerox 50. It will in initially start on the electric start & then imediately die, after that it takes 10-20 kickstarts to get it going. Once running it is fine, with no problems. It also has an small intermittant fuel leak, out of the hose from the bottom of the carb. Due to lack of time, I have not carried out any work on it, instead trusting the main dealer to sort it out. It has just come back from them for the 4th time, & is still not fixed!!! I have lost all faith in them and now will try & look at it myself. I intend to strip the carb & clean it, which I don't think has been done by the…

Whilst using the throttle I'm experiencing some "bogging" after fitting the new throttle cable so I guess I need to adjust the carb in some way. It ticks over normally but struggles when the throttle is applied. I think it's the left-hand screw but not 100% sure. (crap picture courtesy of Apple iPhone)

So I have accumalated a number of DT125R barrels all of which would need a re bore before use. I have used a local engineering shop called Boretech Engineering who do a stunning job. However they are expensive. They charge 54 for the bore, 66 for a mitaka piston kit and somewhere just short of a tenner for a small end bearing. All up it comes in at 130. I can get a mitake piston kit through ebay for 45 quid delivered and small end bearing is about 5 quid so I'm thinking about going elsewhere for a rebore. I have a friend who works at an engineering place and says he should be able to do the re bore so I have a few questions. If the piston size is 56.00mm…

Ive just got a new rear brake caliper and tried fitting it today. It is definitely the right caliper for my model of bike. The problem is whilst I am bleeding it, it isn't developing any pressure to press the pads against the disk. The caliper seems to be all working fine. I tried bleeding it continuously for hours today and still no joy. Does anyone have an idea on what the cause is? Thanks.

Hi there. After spending a month of working on my TZR after work I still can't get it working. I'll start from the beginning. On the way to work in the morning I was just doing 40 mph ( not revving the nuts out of it. ) and after I changed into 6th it just seemed to loose all power. I knew the engine was gunna die so I pulled in the clutch just incase the rear locked up. So I pulled to the side and just had a quick scan over it. It wasn't too hot, everything looked still attached and as if it should be working. I tried starting with the battery with no luck so resorted to bump starting, again with no luck. But it made no noise lick as if it wanted to start. There wa…

Hi guys, So our 2nd car blew up and I decided to return to a bike. Finances being what they are I shopped around and found an XS250 for $400. Plate says it is an 82' and my mechanic say it is an RK, but is has the weird fishtale behind the seat and I thought this was off the SE. Anyway enough rambling. The bike allegedly only sat idle for 6 months but was started every few weeks to keep it fresh. Snapped clutch cable replaced. Pod filters fitted (Airbox was missing any couldn't source a new one without selling my soul), new fuel/oil filter, new plugs, new lights, new battery and general tiddy up. A can of liqui moly 4t fuel system cleaner and then I took it to th…

Hey guys. I actually do not own a bike, but I did recently buy a set of '99 R1 carbs to install on my '72 Datsun 510 as a fun project. Still reading? Alright, good deal . I started disassembling and cleaning the carbs and started noticing some weird stuff: just some discrepancies between what I was seeing on my carbs and what my research had indicated. Here's the carbs and manifold: The needles are hollow, don't have any discernable taper, and are perforated. It may be hard to tell from the pics, but the needle has a bunch of holes along the entire length. Then, there is no spring on top of the needle, so the needles kind of rattle around. …

Yesterday my new set of brake pads came from eBay. So my friend who is a competent mechanic started to put them on. Everything went fine until we put the calliper back on and the piston in the calliper stopped working. I think it is seized because the pads were down to the metal. Completely my fault because I didn't realise. It has seized, I'm hoping it will free its self after a few days. Do you think it will? Also my new tyre came which cost me £80 (Pirelli Sport Demon). I went to the tyre place and he said I had to take the wheel off myself, so I did. It said on the tyre and in the Haynes manual that my tyre was tubeless, so I stabbed the hell out of it to get it of…

Can anyone help me identifie the terminals at the voltage regulator on a dt 50 1991 I am restoring one back to be road legal, the previous owner felt the need to cut out all the lighting wireing. I have followed the factory wireing schematic rewired the entire bike(signals head/tail,horn) all is working. The problem is that the schematic does not show where the feed from the stator( 2 wires I white and 1 yellow/red striped) would be located..or where the positive and negitive termnals.. on the v/r... it's brand new and if i hook it up wrong it will blow. If anyone knows someone with one and can get a look under the gas tank where the V/R is mounted and tell me …
