Hi there. I bought this Tzr 250, its a 3ma with deul carbs and a kick start! The bike is in bad shape1 looks like a couple of teenagers messed it up! lol Sarted it up first time, and went for a powerfull ride! IT FELT like the fastets thing on earth, then caught up to slow car, slamed on the brakes, and tried to over take but the bike had no more power. i stopped next to the road and played with the throttle and then the power came back. spun off like crazy again, but when ever slaged off it does the same thing, almost like a flat spot! took the tank off at home and found that the previous guy replaced the normal coil with two car coils connected straight on the spark…

I need an expert. ive got a yzf 750 with a miss fire.Runs okay for a bit them misses when warm. Ive changed plugs, coils, plug caps, air filter and rubbers, fuel tap diaphram, exup valve. I have ultrasonicly cleaned the carbs. The only part of the ignition system I have not changed is the pickup coil and the ecu but I cant keep throwing money at it. I have stripped and checked the loom and all seems okay. Just to rub salt in the wounds I have also put a new battery, chain and sprockets and downpipes on it too. I dont know what to try next, can someone please help before it gets broken for parts. cheers alan

  4. Hi I was on my way to work this morning and heard vibration noise ( not unusual for my bike ) and decided to tap the dash thinking it was that. with that the key jumped out of the ignition and as i was doing 100km/h on the freeway the wind held it to my chest luckily. the engine was still running and the key position was on the on position. I pulled over put the key back in and turned the engine off. put the key back to the on position again and it was locked in like it should be. Wierd..........Was lucky the wind held it to my chest as it was pitch black and busy freeway. i would of never found the key if it had dropped. On another note....... I want to do a few sa…

  6. Hey People! So. Crashed by YBR125 on Sunday. My own stupid fault and i am in turmoil about it. Took the bike to my dealer (Keys Motorcycles) on Monday after asking if they could look at it (presuming they meant that day) It is now Thursday and they have still yet to give me a sodding estimate. Only that its "not going to be a straight forward repair" Ive been told that i need to go down there on Saturday to tell them what i want/dont want fixing on the bike, even though when i dropped the bike off on Monday i said i wanted the BARE MINIMUM done to get it back on the road. Anyway, my actual question is... As the dealers are taking the royal piss with j…

  7. Hello Guys, How's everyone? So before being able to ride my bike next week I decided that I will change the brake pads on my bike - well, wasn't I in for a treat. I mentioned in a post a while back that my caliper was stuck on my disk. Well I got it off and was welcomed with my brake pads crumbling off and what looks like nearly 20 years of crap (at this point I decided to redo my whole brake section.) After struggling with getting the pin out, pads off and piston out due to corrosion - I decided that I should consult you guys too see what is best. Obviously it needs a bloody good clean, (good, cheap methods? WD40? Boil?) and I need new seals (It was missing o…

  9. My bike was running great untill this week. This is going to be a long one sorry. It started on friday, I took my bike to work for the first time. But in order for me to get to work I have to go up a very steep incline. The bike was going great, but just as I was coming to the top of the incline the bike started spluttering and then eventualy cut out. I waited about 20 seconds, and the bike started again with no prblem at all. It got me the rest of the way no problem. But on the way home coming up the otherside of the incline, the same thing happened again. When I got home i took the carb apart and found a little bit of dirt in there, but i also discovered the float …

Hi guys Have just done my CBT on a YBR 125 and really like the bike, I was thinking of getting a Varadero 125 as i'm a tall rider, but if I could get the YBR 125 to work, that would be great. So the problem I noticed during my CBT, because my arms are not the longest in the world, I found to get comfortable I had to sit against the tank, but because I have really long legs, it ment that my feet were at an odd angle and found that it was uncomfortable and had to shift around a bit to operate the rear brake and change gear. But if I sat back on the seat, then my feet were fine, but I was at a bit of a stretch in the arms. Is this something I can adjust on the bi…

Cheers

Hi, as you may know I bought an RXS100 this week without knowing much about bikes. I have a Haynes manual know and getting to grips with things I should have looked at before I bought it. like the air filter, took the right panel off and knew it was going to be bad, looks like someone has cut a hole in the "air tight" air cleaner box. also there is no filter in there at all. (is this the root cause of my carb overflow issue?) So the air cleaner box is totally empty. Can I get a new filter element? the one I've seen on yambits doesn't look anything like the one in the manual, and can I get a replacement cover? please help J

  15. I recently acquired a 2005 VStar 1100. I've owned many, many bikes in my long life but I have never had one with footboards. I am finding it cumbersome to operate the foot brake and gear shift with this footboard in the way and thought I would like to change to footpegs. Has anyone done this?

  16. Hi, I am getting dirt in my carburettor which is causing the bike to run badly, and sometimes when I turn the bike off fuel poors out of the over flows until I tap the carburettor firmly and it stops. I took the carburettor apart and there were a few little bits of dirt which I cleaned out and presumed as the cause. Bike was fine for a few weeks but now is doing it again. In the Haynes manual it mentions a metal mesh fuel filter type thing but as the manual switches from model to model I am unsure if this is meant to be in my model or not. Does anyone know if there is meant to be a mesh fuel filter on my bike? Or could there be another cause for my problem? Any help gr…

  17. Hi all, Quick question... I have added hard saddle bags to the bike which have built in LED indicators. I had thought that I could wire them up to the original stock indicators. In terms of electrical wiring... is this possible and or recommended? Potential benefits: Should be simple to wire up? Don't need to tap in to any wires? Potential Problems: Will this them dim the brightness of the indicators if they are sharing the same circuit? Could this overload the indicator relay? Will this cause an increased draw of current through the existing wiring, and will this wiring be able to cope we increased load? Any other potential problems? Thanks, …

Noticed this a couple of weeks ago, a small spot of oil under the bike where it's parked. Recently had the oil changed so I wondered if the drain plug had not been screwed back on properly, but having checked I don't think that's the case. The sump under the bike is a bit oily to the touch so I'm thinking some seal / gasket? The bike is due its MOT this month so it's going for a service anyway, but oil leaks ring alarm bells. It's service history shows it's had the sump seal changed once a year from 2005 to 2008. Time for another one I guess?

Recieved a new coil today, advert on Ebay it said its for a DTR apparently, but its different from the standard coil, as it has 2 male spade terminals on it instead of one, it did come with an earth lead, with a female connector one end and a ring connector for earth, the other end of the wire. But its got me headscratching as to which wire goes where, obviously the orange wire from the CDI goes to one spade end, no idea which one mind, as the plastic insulators that the spade end is set in, are both the same colour, as for the earth wire, does this go on the other spade end? and if so, which spade? or does it get earthed by the bolt bracket as same as a standard coil? I'…
